Afterpay Day Sale 2020 | Beauty Sales + Codes (August 2020)

I’m not overly familiar with Afterpay as a customer/user of it, but it is a way to split payments instead of paying for everything all at once.  You’ll just need to make sure that 1) you’re still within your budget and on track to meet your financial goals, and 2) that you pay on time (just like a credit card!!).  Per Afterpay, though, it appears most of the Afterpay Day deals available come with this fine print: “discounts apply with any method of payment” (emphasis added) — so today, August 20th, through tomorrow, August 21st, there are some deals that everyone can take advantage of…

Keep me posted, though, because on my end, I received codes from brands that didn’t come with any fine print and did see a few come through saying Afterpay payment was required…

Here are relevant deals:

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I will try to see if I can find out more about this! I was able to see the discount reflected in my cart – did you see the discount and then it went away or did you not see a discount at all?

This was the fine print per Afterpay for MAC:

*Discounts apply with any method of payment. Additional exclusions and exceptions may apply, see merchant website for more details. You must be over 18, a resident of the U.S. and meet additional eligibility criteria to qualify. Please visit https://www.afterpay.com/purchase-payment-agreement for complete terms.

Melissa, did you have any of the new Powder Kiss collection in your cart? While the older Powder Kiss lipsticks do get the discount, the eyeshadows and liquid lipcolor appear to be excluded. Maybe the new collections are excluded?

Okay, it was the issue with the new collection! Darn it. HA. So it seems to exclude the new Powder Kiss Collection. BUT that collection is at Ulta and they’re doing an Afterpay Deal too. 🙂

This is such a strange thing, to name a day after your company and then offer discounts for that?? lol Commercialism at its finest? I guess as a consumer its nice to have the discount lol

I feel conflicted about Afterpay and the other companies that finance split payments (Klarma I think is the name of another). It feels predatory and just another way to take advantage of people who don’t have much discretionary income for fun things like makeup. Things like this make me feel like it’s always part of the bigger problems in the world…. “Struggling to pay bills? No, silly, employers would never PAY you a livable or thriving wage so you could meet your needs, but we’re happy to split the payments!” I know makeup is not the same as a bill by a long shot, but it just kind of feels like American culture has such a toxic relationship with debt and what one can actually afford. Of course, on the complete other hand, if you don’t NEED the Afterpay service, it’s nice to get a discount. Like I said… conflicted feelings!
