Adept Plain Jane, Ninhydrin, Kodanne Palette Swatches
Adept Cosmetics has three eyeshadow palettes that just became available for pre-order for the last time (shipping December/January). I don’t know that I’ll have reviews before the pre-order closes, but I wanted to get photos/swatches up before the palettes are gone for good. Plain Jane is showing as sold out even though the pre-order went live yesterday 🙁
A brief overview: the shimmers are very smooth, emollient eyeshadows with minimal fallout, good adhesion, and can be applied with a dry brush; the more sparkly the shimmer, the better it worked with a fingertip for higher coverage and a more even base layer of product. The mattes were disappointing–thinner, drier, and harder to blend out and had to be built up in coverage.
Each palette contains an assortment of duochromes and multichromes (and two have matte shades), so you’ll want to click/tap a shade to explore more swatches at different angles and under lower lighting conditions to see the different shifts. The brand has tweaked shades over time, so my Plain Jane is an earlier version (arrived in April this year), and ACI10 and AC12 are different now. Similarly, ACI23 in Ninhydrin is different in the version available for pre-order.
Oh, wow! Ninhydrin as in fingerprints? This is the same Adept that does the heavy storage empty palettes, right? The swatches look lovely and hardly Plain Jane. Good warning to get a move on.
Thank you for these. I’m glad you have more indie stuff!
so sad that these are being discontinued. it seems to be difficult for indie brands to maintain the same pigments over a period of time as I’ve seen many brands change several shades from restock to restock. I had really wanted the plain jane 😭
They are doing another plain Jane re-stock I really recommend it. It’s worth it I’m a palette lover and I have each palette a back up.
Oh, good!
Ninhydrin is such a nice colour story. Kodanne would have been lovely too, if not for that matte fucsia, is like a punch in an eyes near the other colours (and indeed fucsia matte shades make ne look as if I got a punch straight in my eye 😅)
I could be mistaken, but I feel like Adept has said they’re restocking these palettes “for the last time” for like, the last three restocks they’ve done. If it’s true this time, then dang, because I wanted to pick up Plain Jane eventually but was never able to. But if it’s not and they do end up coming back, I’m not sure if I’ll be keeping an eye out anyway, because I get the impression that they take advantage of FOMO for their marketing and I’m not into that.
Oh, Christine, I’m so happy you’re reviewing these palettes!! I just ordered the Plain Jane, anniversary edition (with the two new shades), and I’m looking forward to playing with it in December. I hope you’re able to order the tweaked shades because they look freaking stunning! Although seeing the shades laid out in your reliable swatches may just have put Kodanne on my list… 🙈
These look like some really intriguing and high quality palettes! I am drawn to Ninhydrin and Kodane. Can hardly wait to read your reviews and see the eye looks you come up with using these!
Glad to see swatches of the Adept palettes.I own the old Plain Jane and Kodanne palettes and really enjoy wearing them! I pre-ordered Ninydrin and I’m looking forward to getting it. The shipping times are very long because it’s an Indie brand and they make small batches at a time. I enjoy wearing the vivid multi- chromes and high pigmented shadows.
Interesting color stories !
My jaw literally dropped as I saw this! Thank you for your amazing work, Christine! 🙂 I don’t know what we would do without you…
I’m so glad you’re reviewing these. I have a huge palette collection and my adept palettes are among my prized possessions. I had to buy them all on pre-order but when I received them it was well worth it. Pictures don’t do their shimmers justice in my opinion.
These look really nice combined with your three palettes. It’s fun to use some of the plain Jane duochromes with coordinated mattes
Wow – these are looking good! I think a few of our readers here have purchased some of these and I have looked them up. The swatches, in the main, look quite pigmented and I’d be interested to see how they review.
So excited Adept swatches are coming to Temptalia!!
None of these color stories speak to me (I’m just about done with eyeshadow palettes, you guys), but a serious question – are these repackaged “private label” cosmetics? Because they look that way to me. No shade to companies that are resellers of private label, but I want to know up front.
Well, of course they are singing to me, with Plain Jane being a namesake I would have thought I’d stop there, but no, the one that REALLY caught my eye Ninhydrin!!! I think this would work beautifully with your x Sydney Grace palettes, as these seem more like toppers or light shimmers.
