Hare Polish Dauphine of Decadence Nail Lacquer ($10.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “mixture of gold glitter in several sizes of hex & square glitter, with a sprinkling of pale mint green hexes as a subtle accent [with] striking gold shimmer [in a clear base].” It is a mix of multi-sized bits and pieces of gold glitter, from hexagon to square to circular-shaped. Decadence is a very apt word to use in the name of this shade, because it’s right-on (and when I initially swatched it, I thought, “Opulence,” so I was on the right track!).

As it is designed to be used as a top coat, I layered one coat over Color Club Beyond, and then to show the look of the glitter itself, so you can think about other base colors to use it over, I applied two coats alone on my thumb nail. What I liked most about this was the small gold shimmer and glitter that helped to fill in the “background,” in a way. The smaller particles were very easy to spread across the nail without worrying about too much in one place. This top coat does need a little pulling and tugging to get some of the larger glitter pieces into place to ensure there are no parts of the nail that look bare. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it dried down fairly quickly. I typically get a week of wear out of Hare’s formula with minor tip wear but no chipping. Hare will be restocking their shop soon with the spring collection!

I like the golden dust look to this polish. It’s very pretty! I think it would look amazing over a paler polish too, but the effect stands out nicely against your dark background too. Glitters are so much better when they are mixed with different sized particles. It seems to help in avoiding the dreaded clumpy ball of glitter thing that happens upon application with the larger glitter polishes.

Hmmm. I thought this looked gorgeous in the bottle, because I saw gold/chartreuse, with the specks of pale sage green, but I was disappointed to see it applied. I wonder how it would look over white.

Loving the royal French reference πŸ˜€ , also loving the polish overall. ItΒ΄s gorgeous and does have the royal gold feel to it, I would adore this layered on top of an opaque gold nail polish πŸ™‚ .
