New Product Alert! Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadows

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow
Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow

Like all our Eyeshadows, each Moondust shade comes in our new compact with the cool pop-out feature. Pop these shadows out of their compacts and into one of our customizable Build Your Own Palettes to create the ultimate travel-friendly collection. To make Moondust Eyeshadows easier to spot in your makeup bag or palette, the compacts are pale silver (instead of gunmetal like our iconic shadows).

Super-secret new technology at our lab gives Moondust an amazing effect not found in traditional pressed-powder shadows. It feels like a cream but goes on like a powder to create a smooth, brilliantly reflective look. The result? Sexy, twinkling sparkle with a ton of depth and movement. (And a LOT of questions about what you’re wearing!) The colors are like nothing else out there. Our staff is already going nuts over Zodiac, an amazing smoky black with a blue-green shift and a sparkly 3-D effect.

Urban Decay launches Moondust Eyeshadow, a dazzling innovation in eyeshadow with a superrefined and incredibly sophisticated feel. Forget EVERYTHING you know about glitter eyeshadow. Moondust is like NO OTHER shadow. There’s not a speck of chunky “teen glitter” to be found in these babies. Microfine bits of iridescent sparkle collide with intense, dreamy hues and lush 3-D metallics—for an effect that’s out of this world. And while some traditional sparkly shadows tend to look cheap, Moondust has a really luxe, upscale vibe and a gorgeous, diamond-like effect.

Moondust Eyeshadow is infused with a delicate, microfine sparkle and gorgeous 3-D pearls—for a glistening, iridescent effect and amazing flashes of multidimensional sparkle. We recommend applying Moondust with your fingers. For extra intense color payout, try it wet.

I wonder how these will compare to the LORAC 3D shadows from a few years back. A part of me hopes they are a completely different product, but part of me hopes I can do without them, LOL.

I’ve never bought a single pan eye shadow from UD but Zodiac might change my mind!! My eyes just about popped out when I saw that shade!!!

Kadie Lee Avatar

I’m so wary about these kind of products and I’m definitely wondering how the fallout/color payoff is going to be. Definitely waiting for a couple reviews before purchasing.

“There’s not a speck of chunky “teen glitter” to be found in these babies…And while some traditional sparkly shadows tend to look cheap Moondust has a really luxe, upscale vibe…”

With a defensive blurb like this they must know seven ways to Sunday what many people think of glitter eyeshadows. Interested to see if they can actually pull the luxe, upscale vibe they claim to have in these new eyeshadows.

Gracie Avatar

I wouldn’t characterize that description as defensive, as UD is actually inferring that their previously released glitter-containing shadows might have been viewed by some as cheap-looking or best suited to teens. They are being proactive by addressing these concerns right in the press release. Defensive would be if their commentary maintained that these concerns regarding their older glitter shadows were without merit.

The names and the shades are the same as Stardust, so I wonder how different these really are. They look super-pretty in the pan, prettier than the Stardust shadows, but I will reserve any excitement until reviews start rolling in.

Quinctia Avatar

While I was sad to see the Stardust shadows go (in a way, I mean, it let me get a bunch of them for cheap), I hope these are even better. I never quite got why the Stardust ones were supposed to be worth more. And they never ever seemed to pop one of the shades in a palette to get anyone hooked on the formula.

Didn’t they already have these in the square packaging? I always ask for brands to make their permanent products better instead of concentrating on limited collections (ahem…MAC), but I’d much rather them fix their problem with their palettes (excess packaging–no refills) instead of reformulating a whole line of glitter shadows. Beggars can’t be choosers I guess, and some of those colors look beautiful! I will wait to buy until I see you review a few, though.

IF (and that is a big IF) they really live up to the claim with regard to the glitter, then I can see really wanting a few of these, especially Diamond Dog, Intergalactic and the green one (it doesn’t sound like the description of Stargazer, though it if is, I will probably pass as lime green isn’t really my thing.

Malia Avatar

Ok they must have kept some of the same names but the photos do look better than the old ones, especially stargazer, looking forward to swatches!

mar Avatar

Look very pretty in the pan but will reserve comment until I see swatches although the idea of the duotone is intriguing I was much more excited about Laced & Desperation. I already saw the Desperation liner & feel in love immediately.

Alison Avatar

Ha! That press release sure contains a lot of hyperbole to live up to. They’ve also got some nerve to describe other glitter products as containing ‘chunky ‘teen glitter” given the performance of their own glitter shadow range which is infamous for its chunky glittery fallout. In fact, just because I find this press release so annoying I’m not even going to check out this range when it’s released!!

Starfish Avatar

lol I kind of agree. Some of their most beautiful colors are ruined by chunky silver glitter thrown in. Most of them don’t even need the glitter and it ends up all over my cheeks anyway. Hmmph.

Kelly B. Avatar

Agree too. I’m tired of beautiful colors being ruined by chunky glitter and fallout that lasts longer than the shadow. I stopped wearing all UD glitter as I feel like my pores ooze it for days no matter how much I wash my face. I’ve also found my eyelids are red and literally painful for a couple of days after wearing a UD glitter shadow (with primer of course). Sadly, I avoid many of their palettes for those reasons…and I’m a palette person for the value and ability to explore colors I can’t buy at full price. I wish UD would replace all glitter in palettes with shimmer. Then people can buy glitter shadows separately or just make a glitter only palette. I’m probably alone in this wish.

The press release was annoying to me also but in all fairness I find many press releases contain overstated BS.

Sabriel Avatar

I like the square packaging they used for the Stardust eyeshadows. You can open it by squeezing the sides, and it’s wicked-cool.

I’m sure that if I did a google search I’d find a bunch of people *complaining* about it… but I liked it. I’m sad that they didn’t use it again.

Zodiac has my attention.

Heather Avatar

one of the problems with the old case style is it had a tendance to pop open in you bag. Glitter everywhere and my poor shadow half destroyed. 🙁 All mine rattle around in my purse taped shut LOL

Zainab Avatar

I get the feeling these will be like L’Oreal infallible shadows. I have a couple of those and they’re glittery without ‘glitter’.

Carrie Avatar

Very pretty, but given their past glitter shades, I’ll wait to see your reviews before biting. I hope they are work as well as they are pretty!

angie Avatar

These look so much lke the L’oreal products (at 1/3 the price to boot), I’ll stick with L’Oreal. I can’t get UD eyeshadow to stick to my eyes for ANYTHING! at least the cheap L’oreal does. (And with UDPP LOL)

Precious Avatar

Ooh, they all look so pretty! I’m really hoping they live up to Urban Decay’s claims and perform well because I’m interested in Stargazer and Zodiac. 😀
