Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new this week for me! 🙂

Weekend plans: Hoping to sit down and write some overdue reviews on Saturday! My parents come over on Sunday, so seeing and hanging out with family for the afternoon!

Are there any (non-beauty) Black Friday sales you’re excited for? I’ve been eyeing some jewelry, but my big purchase was some more earrings from Three Moons.

Things I miss from the East Valley: RAIN! But, I sure am glad that these little cuties got to play in the rarely occurring wet stuff from the sky!🌧️

Purchases/rediscoveries: No beauty purchases, but I did order another set of PJs and 2 midi length straight down 90’s style skirts for winter meetings.
Rediscovered a plummy PMG Labs lip balm that has good coverage, I cannot see the label well, but I know it has “Vixen” in the shade name!

Weekend plans: Other than my Zoom meeting tomorrow morning, provided that I wake up on time, nothing much? And after the CRAZY business of the last couple weekends, that’s a relief!

Are there any (non-beauty) Black Friday sales you’re excited for? Not this year, but then again, I have purchased a LOT of stuff this month! Including a new coffee mug that I bought at Home Goods with two black cats and Cattitude written on it, a cushy soft kitchen rug for the entire sink, stove and food preparation area, and some more clothing. If I had it in my budget, I would get a faux leather recliner, though!

Weekend Plans: I am getting things done around the house in preparation for leaving on Monday to go to Seattle for Thanksgiving. I am going to be bringing my grandkittie home with me again. She has taken to peeing on my daughter’s roommates bed. She had started about a year ago and we took her to the vet and they found that her thyroid was low and started her on thyroid medication but just about two weeks ago she has started it again. Needless to say, the roommate is not happy and doesn’t want Sophie living there anymore. I am bringing her home and taking her to the vet in hopes that maybe her thyroid level is off and she needs a medication adjustment. I understand my daughter’s roommate’s feeling but I am also upset for my daughter as there have been a lot of times when Sophie has had to live with me while Aislinn was in college and when she lived in Missoula after college. Her roommate there had a cat and she and Sophie did not get along. The girl swore she didn’t have anyone that could take care of her cat so Sophie came home with me for a year. This was a big reason why my daughter did not want a roommate but when her childhood friend begged to let her move up and live with her, Aislinn relented. Aislinn is going to be devastated if Sophie has to leave. It would be almost a year before Sophie would be able to move back as my daughter has decided that when the lease renews next October, she will not be living with her current roommate. So, she may have to go without Sophie for another year. Sophie is 12 which is not that old for a cat but who knows, there may be something more serious going on.
I am also taking my mother to a holiday craft show at our little town grange. It is hard to find things to keep her busy and so when something is going on, I try to take her. It gets her out of the house. My brother has been busy lately dealing with a friend who is an alcoholic and after many, many years of not drinking, fell off the wagon about 2 months ago. My brother got him into treatment and he got out and immediately started drinking again. My brother can’t bring himself to distance himself from his friend but his friend is not ready to get help. That means that my mom doesn’t have my brother around to keep her entertained. I am going to be in Seattle for a week and then at this point, I think Aislinn will come home for Christmas and we will decide then whether Sophie is going home with her or staying with me.

Black Friday: Frankly, I never go into black Friday with any kind of a plan! I sort of let whatever happens happen. I get a ton of promotional emails because I purchase so much online. I keep my postal carrier very busy and I have a permanent box from the post office on my porch for packages. When you live in a very small town in the middle of nowhere, you rely a lot on internet shopping. I average about 100 emails a day and most are advertisements or promotions. Some I don’t even open but this time of year, I usually go through those that come that I have purchased from before and would likely purchase again and see what is on offer. I did want to pick up an orchid rug which I have had my eye on for awhile. Sadly, it is out of stock and will not be restocked so I have been watching that store to see what they will have that might work for me. I am also looking for an air fryer. I am having a hard time deciding on what brand. My brother thinks that I should get the big Emeril Lagasse one that can roast an entire turkey, but do I need something that big? Also, whenever I am looking to purchase an appliance, I read the reviews and for some reason, there can be a thousand good review and the one bad review keeps me from buying!

It does sound like Sophie does have some thyroid problems, such an issue for you, Aislinn and her room mate. Cats are funny creatures. My best girlfriend was babysitting her daughter’s cat when her son returned home to live with his cat. They loathed each other and had to be kept separated most of the time. Of course it was my friend that had to deal with all of this – just like you.
Your mum will enjoy the craft show and it will be a positive outing for her. Very sad about your brother’s friend – you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink – an Aussie expression that I think is apt here.
We’ve been thinking about purchasing an air fyer too – but not a big one. I just keep thinking do I need one more thing to clutter up my cupboards? My DIL has one and she loves it – and even Olivia can use it too. So maybe a smaller one would suffice for when Aislinn and you are together. How often would you need to roast an entire turkey?
Enjoy your weekend Deborah.

Thank you Genevieve. Mom did enjoy the craft festival and she wants to have a booth next year and sell her scarves that she knits. I am hoping she will have forgotten that idea within a week or two. She actually picked up her house a little the other day which is amazing considering her level of hoarding.

Aw, poor Sophie. I hope you can find out why she’s peeing on the bed. Navigating roommates can be such a PITA, even if they’re good friends and their concerns are legit.

Cat urine scent sticks around so long, too. Washing the bedding in and shampooing the mattress with pet smell deodorizer and then white vinegar can help get that smell out.

Jack has been peeing on the couch since coming home from surgery. He has PTSD from moving around and being homeless before we took him in.

I hope you have a great visit with your daughter regardless,

Thank you for the suggestions, Rachel. Yes, cats are such an unknown in that they don’t follow any rhyme or reason! Luckily, she does well when she is home with me but she misses her “mommie” even so. When I have her home, I call my daughter and put her on speaker and Sophie comes over and head butts the phone and purrs and looks like she can’t figure out where Aislinn is1 Time will tell what will happen. I will see the vet and go from there. If it is just a medication adjustment then that will be easy.

Purchases: Nothing Rediscoveries: again, that wonderful MUFE Nudes You Need palette and, strangely, ABH Rosette eyeshadow. I am really liking it on the outer 2/3 of my mobile lids. Also Sephora Hong Kong By Night lippie (I know Genevieve will approve!) – it is pretty long lasting and when it fades, it leaves an even tint behind and, generally, it’s just really nice.

Weekend plans: the gym (I think I’ll give it a miss today because I’m still really sore from training sessions this week but I will go tomorrow). Today, I also want to make dinner for a friend who just got back from Spain only to suffer a rupture Baker’s Cyst followed by a torn meniscus and her husband has just had surgery for prostate cancer so they really are the Walking Wounded. I’m going to make some comfort food and take it over to them – meatloaf, mashed potatoes, some maple glazed carrots…. I also want to get to the library because a ton of books and DVDs I’ve had on hold have come in.

Non makeup Black Friday sales I’m excited about: Nothing at all.

The puppies are gorgeous and it would be a full time job looking after them too! You would want to play with them all day long.

Recent Purchases: A couple of weeks ago I bought the L’Oreal True Match Serum foundation in the lightest shade, It’s a very lighweight foundation, very easy to apply, blends smoothly and offers a light cover. I do quite like it for a warm day.
I also purchased some skin care products for my twin sister: A Boots No. 7 Day and a Night restore cream.

Rediscoveries: Quite an oldie now, but still a goodie – a Dior 3 Colours in Khaki – an antique gold, an olive green and an olive brown shade.

Weekend Plans This is my birthday weekend and I have been celebrating since last Thursday – I went out for lunch with my two best girlfriends and it was great to catch up with them.
On Friday night I went out for dinner with my twin sister and her partner at a favourite restaurant. She is much better now and we had a fabulous time.
Saturday I went shopping to look for some summer clothes and luckily enough, found a couple of summery tops. Usually I don’t find anything in the colours I like, but the Black Friday sales have started early in some of the major dept. stores and the tops were 40% off.
Sunday, my eldest son is taking me out for a Sunday lunch at a country town in the mountains, which has a lot of niche stores that I like to browse in.
Monday – which is my actual birthday, I am going out for dinner with the family at hotel restaurant that has a great playroom for the kids and an excellent menu. So all in all, I am a very happy girl!

Non Beauty Black Friday Sales: Yes, a pair of summer sandals in white that I am after and probably some Christmas presents for the family.

RECENT PURCHASES: None
REDISCOVERIES: Lurella Silent Night Palette.

WEEKEND PLANS: LOL I’m pretty late for this one. Yesterday I went to stitch circle. Other than that, Thanksgiving prep and housework, and chauffeuring the kids around. My husband took M-W off to help with holiday prep.

ARE THERE ANY (NON-BEAUTY) BLACK FRIDAY SALES YOU’RE EXCITED FOR?
I haven’t been paying attention to sales lately.

Oh, and cat update: Jack got his stitches out on Monday. He kept pulling the scabs off one area of the wound afterwards, but he has left it alone the last couple days. It still seems to be healing nicely.

He is freaking Houdini at getting the cone off, so we’re keeping an eye on the wound, and I apply a light coat of antibiotic ointment on it.
