Tom Ford Lumiere D'Hiver Eye Color Quad Review & Swatches
Lumiere d'Hiver
Tom Ford Beauty Lumiere D’hiver Eye Color Quad ($90.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a new, limited edition offering for the holiday season that featured two matte eyeshadows and two shimmery eyeshadows. I did not feel that any of the eyeshadows performed that well; for the price point, obviously a massive miss!

I have to respectfully disagree with your rating for this quad. I got it recently, and used it just last week. I thought it performed very nicely. There was some fallout from the sparkly shadows during application, but none that I could tell during wear (I do my eyes first anyway, so that helps).
I applied the light matte shadow over my entire lid area (first quad with a matte shadow light enough for me to use a a base), and then the matte brown for my transition/crease and outer corners. I think it worked really well for this BECAUSE it can be sheered out. It can also be built up in order to deepen where desired.
The sparkly shadows worked well and looked quite beautiful on the mid and inner lid areas. I enjoy TF sparkly shades as they are very forgiving, and don’t emphasize texture on the lids. I find them to be very flattering.
Overall, I’m glad I got this quad.
Well, you give me a little hope that maybe if I check it out in person, I will like it more than I thought. I really wanted a cool toned shimmery shade that laid down giving that wet look and didn’t emphasize my old eye texture. We all have different preferences and I know that Christine reviews products against the claims made by the brand and then using a very specific algorithm so while her review may be 100% accurate, my preferences might make the thinness of the formula, just perfect. I don’t mind building color but I was surprised that it pulled much warmer than I thought because the majority of YT’ers that I follow are like me, preferring a cool toned palette and they were all raving about it. For me, besides the obvious drawbacks, I have to ask if I want to pay $90 for four shades of which one is pretty much just a base. I am still pondering that question but I will check it out in Denver since nothing else has been wowing me. Thank you for sharing your experience with the palette. That is why a beauty community like this is so helpful.
After seeing the preview swatches, I just KNEW it in my gut that it was going to be a really crappy, lousy quad that is Dollar Tree level of quality!
Well, that was easy. Check Tom Ford off my list of possible holiday palettes. Not only do the colors not look anything like I expected them to, they are terrible to boot. I wonder what the YT community are talking about as they were raving about this palette and the gorgeous silver color that applied so beautifully and left a wet look silver on the lid. They are either scared to be honest and taken off the PR list, their expectations are really low, they are color blind or all three.
I didn’t think that this was one of Tom’s best when I saw the swatches the other day and unfortunately, it’s turned out to be true. Very disappointing. Shade 2 is a complete surprise as it looks quite cool toned in the pan and yet turns out to be a very warm colour, No wonder you re-tested the swatch Christine.
TF has repeatedly reformulated their pressed powder shadows, this being the most recent, but the quality has never really been great. I wish they would admit defeat, scrap them altogether and focus on the wet/dry and creme formulas that consumers love.
#3: drag out Nars Thistle. And done.
This has a nice, icy, winter vibe to it but, oh my gosh – to charge the prices he does (or the company does) for such mediocre product….I think we could all actually do much better with Covergirl!!!
