How pigmented do you prefer your blushes?
Semi-sheer to medium, somewhat buildable, but I prefer something that isn’t sooo pigmented that the faintest touch of the brush yields opaque coverage!

Definitely sheer, but buildable. I find they blend with the skin better and look softer. Pat McGrath, Gucci are my two favourite powder formulas and Natasha Denona if going to a cream/powder hybrid.
Exactly what you said is how I like mine.
Sheer buildable color, not too pigmented.
I personally don’t like a strong blush color (I prefer the barely there natural soft flush look), I prefer to be able to build up color… but I don’t like a not pigmented blush. I want pigment from the first touch, to be able to swipe once and get my blush fix on a quick morning; I just want to control the ‘strength’ of the color on the days I want to apply 2-3 layers of blush to get more color.
Enough to give me a flush, but no “clown cheeks”! For dark, bright shades, I fully appreciate a gently buildable formula. For more “natural” or medium depth shades, my skin has enough color to it to handle a fuller impact pigmentation.
I agree, sheer to semi-sheer with some ability to build up. I have natural redness (rosy cheeks in positive spin lol) so I really just want a bit of color to add glow or pull together a makeup look.
I have a very light skin, so I don’t like blushes that are super pigmented. I prefer ones that are sheer to medium and buildable. If not, then I want them easy to sheer out.
I love intense pigmentation in a product, especially blushes! I really appreciate the level of control and precision I can get, and I feel it’s a better value for my money as well as avoiding cake-face. Phytosurgence is one of my favorites in this regard! I can sheer it out or create a much more dramatic flush without needing to add more and more product to achieve a similar effect.
I like them medium at most. I have a lot of pink/redness in my cheeks and I find that if I have to blend out a blush too much and buff it, that brings out the tendency for my cheeks to look flushed (almost making blush unnecessary, except it’s not). The MAC Extra Dimension blushes are nigh on perfect as are many of MAC’s Mineralize blushes from the past.
Sheer to semi-sheer. I put on blush with a very light hand so it looks more like a natural flush.
Sheer to light pigment. I don’t like heavy blush and I am pretty heavy handed. I have never been able to get a pigmented blush to blend out or become sheer with a light hand or stippling brush. I just need less pigment.
I must agree with you Christine
Sheer to medium, absolutely and buildable. Mostly I use my blushes in a very sheer layer.
Like you Christine, I prefer my blushes to be reasonably pigmented, but not so much that I end up looking like a clown from the meerest touch. With my porcelain complexion, that is easy to do.
I agree with your choice completely. Really sheer formulas make want to keep applying and then wind up looking a little dry (I am a powder blush diehard) but highly pigmented-opaque varieties are a little tricky on my fair skin tone.
I want to love cream blushes, but I keep going back to my tried & true MAC powder blushes because they always seem to get the pigment right! Just like you, I prefer semi-sheer buildable up to medium coverage. I’m a lighter skin tone… many blushes build quickly & can easily get over-powering if I’m not careful! And just as important as coverage is the finish… matte, satin, shimmer or glitter. I’m 47 and I still like a little shine & glow on my cheeks from time to time. But I don’t like the look of chunky shimmers & glitters on my cheeks.
I’m pretty flexible with pigmentation levels-if it’s too bright, I can always run a little more foundation or (very rarely) a powder over it-but I generally don’t like anything too sheer.
