Does your skincare routine change from summer to fall?
My routine is still so pared down and simple right now… not because I *want* a minimal routine but because I am still struggling to DO my full routine regularly. 🙁

I do, but as my routine has become more minimal, there are fewer things to change. As soon as the home heating goes on, it’s time to get out the humidifier. As for products, I switch cleansers to one for normal to dry whereas it’s normal to oily in spring/summer. I am more diligent about topping my tretinoin with moisturizer at night and I switch to a moisturizing sunscreen during the day.
No, where I live the weather doesn’t enough between seasons to make skincare changes necessary.
It sure does. Like Lesley, we also use a humidifier in our bedroom (and another in our family room/kitchen, where we spend the most time). I use richer moisturizers and if I’m going to be out in the cold (I live in The Great White North) I will use a cream that doesn’t contain water (it can freeze on the skin in freezing cold and do damage). I will often use some quite heavy moisturizers at night – things like Ombra Melkfett (no longer available, sadly) or that Egyptian Magic cream – really occlusive type “balms”. I tend to use less sudsy, “squeaky clean” type cleansers and will often opt for a balm that I can wipe off with a warm face cloth. I use sunscreen all year ’round but I’m more fanatical about it in spring and summer than I am in the cooler months.
No, my skin needs don’t change with the seasons.
Everything pretty much stays the same no matter what season we happen to be in. With one exception: once I’m fully into long sleeves and jeans, I no longer bother wearing sunscreen during daytime except on my face and neck.
Yes. I live in a place with hot, humid summers. In fall, it expands from “cleanse-then-maybe-serum” to an actual routine.
.For my face, no. I get eczema, so I tend to use more body lotion as temperatures go down and we use more indoor heating.
I am prone to getting eczema as well Rachel and I find that I need more body creams in winter too as my legs and arms get really dry. I find CeraVe’s moisturing cream (in the big economical tub) to work quite well. Such a pain!
Yes, my skincare changes depending on climate. I have combination acne-prone sensitive skin, which means I need to adjust for skin prone to both oiliness and dryness. If I’m in a hot and humid environment, I wear and reapply sweat-resistant sunscreen (usually a chemical/mineral UV filter mix) and use the lightest/breathable moisturizers/serums with humectants. I use Vanicream cleanser in the PM and Paula’s Choice Pore Cleanser in the AM. If I’m in a hot and dry climate, I try to use less humectants and look for a lightweight moisturizing sunscreen to alternate with the sweat-resistant one. If I have dryness, I’ll use a more moisturizing cleanser like Hada Labo Gokujyun Face Wash in the during a shower. In fall, if the activity I’m doing or the environment I’m in isn’t as sweat-inducing, then I worry less about sweat-resistance in my sunscreen. As the environment gets drier, I will either apply a second layer of moisturizer over my dry areas or include a balm/ointment in my routine. I will use a thicker sunscreen as it gets colder and dryer.
Not skin care exactly, but I don’t use my MAC setting spray when there’s low humidity.
Your poor hands Christine! It must be so difficult for you.
The only thing that changes for me from summer to winter and vice versa is my use of sunscreen. The other day I took Harry out to a playground, we were meeting my best friend and her granddaughter there and it was quite sunny. So for the first time in quite awhile I used sunscreen on my face and on my arms, neck and chest. That’s the only difference between the two contrasting seasons in terms of my skincare routine.
