I DO! I DO – I often mention MAC’s Extra Dimension blushes as favourites (ditto the eyeshadows) and wish MAC would release more colours. I just love them. I also have a real partiality for their Mineralize blush finish and, again, wish there were more shades to choose from in the cooler colour family (that’s the other thing – the preponderance of warm toned, peach and coral blushes – which so many really love – just do not work for me at all, no matter how much I try….they just don’t look natural on me at all and basically clash with my skin tone).
I agree with you Christine, Mac Extra Dimension Blushes. I wish Mac would release more shades.
I always want to try these, but I never even think to buy MAC stuff when I am shopping for makeup.
I still really love Illamasqua’s blushes, and I think that after all of these years they still have the best formula I’ve tried. When they pulled out of the US market it really set the brand way back in terms of getting any traction here.
Milani baked blushes.
They are so good.
Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush. When it came out, most people were complaining about the size and that it’s sheer. Since then, I don’t hear many people talking about it, period.
Same! I would own every single MAC EDSF blush if I could. To mirror what everyone else is saying, I too hope they’d have more colors come out. They last a long time and just look amazing. I think MAC products don’t have the new and exciting factor that other brands have, but their blushes are by far my favorite (even their normal finishes and the Mineralize finish).
I can remember when ALL the vlogs, blogs and influencer sites were all singing the high praises of Nars blush formula, and recently: crickets. Unless Nars releases a face palette? Thing is, their blush formulas, both baked geleé and powder are almost always phenomenal!
Oh, and not just MAC ED finish, but it sure seems as if everyone dropped all MAC blush formulas off their radar! I believe that only your site gives any of MAC’s blushes any attention at all!
Nancy. I totally agree! I never see anyone covering MAC anything, oh maybe if it LE, but if Christina didn’t swatch the oldies but goodies we’d be left with nothing. And a fine nod to Christina to show and swatch all the Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks. Those lipsticks are home runs and I see no one talking about them. Hail Christina!
Clinique Cheek Pop and MAC Extra Dimensions !
Unfortunately, I think these are being discontinued. I went back to repurchase Berry Pop and I can’t find it anywhere and the counters have just one or two shades….online also. I did find a match that was close enough….YSL Couture Blush in Fuchsia Stiletto. It’s lovely.
The Cheek Pop blushes are still at Sephora and Ulta in the US. I know they no longer carry certain colors. Doesn’t seem they are discontinuing the line. I certainly hope not. I do have a back up of Nude Pop just in case. Luckily they take forever to hit pan on!
Totally agree! The Skin Finishes have that gelee type feel to me and can be sheer or built. I think they are lovely. I guess I ‘get’ that few mention MAC and that there are and is a new ‘darling’ brand (sigh) all the time I think there’s enough room for MAC and to just be going over and over say Pillow Talk this n that is really not what the world of makeup is about imo.
I am not really a ‘blush’ person in the same way I am a lipstick or eyeshadow person in that I don’t own a variety of blushes. Having said that, I have read about MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish blushes here on this blog and they always looked pretty good. I do think that when a brand brings out something like this and it is so popular, they should extend the shade range (with the same formula) to make it more user friendly to a wider variety of skintones. Just like I would like to see Maybelline extend their “For Me’ lipstick range to include more shades.
As we do have a MAC makeup store in a nearby shopping centre, the next time I am looking for a blush, I shall check these out.
I love my MAC blush palette that I created from the pro store.. my faves.. fluer power, melba, sunbasque.. I have several others can’t remember the names.. I love the extra dimension ones and I wear them I don’t care what they say about not being able to wear shimmer at a certain age! I bought the new cushion formula as well. I really love my MAC products and they are just staples.. I am definitely buying the MAC blushes when they are 50% off at the Ulta sale.. I have to figure out which ones I want! Really the only other blushes I have purchased are the NARS liquid orgasm ( I LOVE) that one used it up 2 times- I have the PMG blushes and I tried 2 of the Patrick Ta’s.. those are not the ones I reach for honestly
I recently bought Sunbasque. I’ve been wearing it all summer. I’ve tried other blushes but MAC has just been the blush brand for me. I have the most from them!!
I was unaware of the formula used in these blushes but I’m going to have a look now. As another commenter mentioned there don’t seem to be many cool tones. The peaches and corals are clown like on my skin.
100% agree. MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish Blushes are sooo underrated. If I to recommend 1 product from MAC it’s would be these blushes.
could not agree more with you christine!!! mac extra dimension are such a lovely formula and it seems no one ever mentions them. i keep hoping mac will start releasing smaller ed blush palettes (like quads) in varying levels of depths (light, medium, dark) and in different color families (reds, plums, bronzes, oranges..) with different undertones (cooler, warmer, neutral). i would literally go bonkers over that!!
I like a nice neutral to warm, lighter toned purple blush. Yes, purple. It is a nice change from pink, red, peach, etc.
Great topic! And oh, so many! MAC Blondie, MAC Pink Cult and esp. Pink Tea! I have yet to find a replacement for those! Chanel Pink Cloud…Milani has dropped shades that were so wonderful! Nars Gaiety! WHY would they drop that? For those of us paler ‘Winters,’ it’s so hard to find shades that truly work. I find that most shades are on the warm side, telling me that most people have warm skin tones. I WISH I had a peachy skin tone, but I don’t. I am a true Winter and as I get older, my skin tone is only getting more chilly. If anyone can give me a rec esp. for Pink Tea, I’d be thrilled. I know that Blondie is warm, but it was so pale and provided some ‘fake warmth.’ Pink Tea was absolutely perfect. I wish MAC would repromote even under a different shade name. When I was young I could get away with warm blushes, if they were very light, as Benefit Dandelion. It has to be a light pale very cool blush and some neutral light pinks. If anyone has recs I’d be grateful and TIA.
