What's your favorite genre of perfume?
I definitely like resinous, boozy, and woody scents (some sort of mix of those) followed by spice, smoke, and some sweetness (but not overly gourmand sweetness).

Given that walking past someone wearing perfume can cause me to break into an epic sneezing fit that leaves me with an itchy, puffy face at best or with a migraine at worst, my favorite perfume is no perfume. I’m not even asthmatic, just allergic. It kind of blows my mind that people still wear perfume in public knowing that it triggers asthma attacks.
The hermes les jardins line is my fave. Wish it came in smaller sizes!
I definitely enjoy more gourmand sweet scents. If amber is mixed in there, too, I’m in heaven.
I know we’re not supposed to use gender to describe things anymore…but masculine is my vibe. The kind of really manly “dude just rolled up in to town on a horse smelling of leather, hay, patchouli, tobacco, and depth.”
I don’t do florals. I don’t do candy. I don’t care for amber. I like just enough sweetness to soften what can get a little harsh when you try to do a deep masculine.
Old style chypres and orientals.
Most of the year I go for dark florals, spicy with a fruit undertone, or wood/leather/tobacco. In the summer I like more tart/juicy fruit or “beachy” ozone/salt air.
It runs the gamut! If I want something a little bit smoky (more like incense?), with woodsy, resunous, spicy notes, I go for Avon x Christian LaCroix Absynthe. If I want something gourmand, but not sickly sweet, I go for YSL Black Opium Nuit Blanche. And I have NO idea how to class Tom Ford Black Orchid! I suppose it’s a sophisticated floral and spice?
Surprisingly even to me, I’m into sweet gourmand fragrances. The odd thing is that on me every fragrance chanced scent completely, and every sweet fragrance smells less sweet. One would assume I should smell like a cake shop, but on me sweet scents almost get a fresh vibe.
I’m into almost every gourmand note, but anything vanilla is my go-to. I also love coffee, caramel and cacao notes; I love almonds, honey and coconut notes, but only in specific combinations (for example I despise the Sol de Janeiro scents, although on paper I should love them); a touch of pear, cherry blossom, peony or freesia is always welcomed.
I really love a lot of scents but if I had to choose one category of scent it would be the florals and the smokes. I use to work with a surgeon who smoked a pipe and his favorite tobacco was a chocolate. The combination of chocolate and tobacco smoke is like my ideal scent.
I like a wide variety of scents – absolutely nothing too sweet. I am not sure how to classify the scents I love – my all time favourite for decades has been Clinique’s Aronmatics.
I do like spicier, woody scents too.
Ormonde Jayne and Guerlain are my go to. Love unique, non mainstream perfumes that are old style classic. Nothing better than leather, old paper, smoke and jasmine blended together:) with a touch of oud.

YSL – Mon paris, Juliette has a gun – Mmmm…, Altaia – Purple land being my favourite perfumes I’ve found so far.
I bought the Replica – By the fireplace, and I LOVE the smokey, sultry smell of it, just not on myself. Same as YSL Black Opium and Libre. In the bottles, and other people, smells amazing.
Take what you can from my favorite fragrances. They are Chloe, Chanel No.22, Givenchy’s L’Interdite, and YSL Mon Paris, and My Happy Cocoa and Cashmere.
My tastes run the gamut as well. Love seeing what everyone like here. Looking at my collection, I think it’s safe to say I like rich, almost oriental, woodsy scents too and I also love tea based scents. In the autumn I like to wear my Tea for Two (L’Artisan), Chergui or Santal Majascule (Serge Lutens), or big oud scents. In the spring I gravitate toward my Parfums et Rosine, Eleventh Hour or Pulp (Byredo), and my anytime fragrance for a long time now is my Frederic Mall L’eau H’Diver (honeyed iris). Salt based fragrances smell TERRIBLE on me which is too bad because I love to smell them in the bottle. 🙂
I like the floral, fruity, and gourmand genres best. In any genre, I tend to prefer a good balance of sweet and spicy, but I’ll sometimes go against this preference if I’m in the mood to mix things up.
Oh, this is hard to answer.
Oriental, vanilla, spice, some flowers.
My favourites through the years are Shalimar, YSL Paris, Opium (the original one) Black Opium, Chanel no 5, I used to like the lips and nose one from Salvador Dalí, one from Lalique, I can’t recall the name, one from Sonia Rykiel, the bottle was shaped like a short sleeved sweater and the box was orangey, Givenchy Organza and Hot Couture. A very long time ago I liked an Alain Delon scent.
Now maybe some of the ones I love/loved aren’t in the families I mentioned, but I have a hard time describing scents.
Vanilla. Vanilla with sandalwood or tonka or bourbon. Dior Addict = perfection in a bottle. 🤍
Masculine leaning unisex woody scents for me with warm spices/oud/leather/tobacco/incense for winter and with aromatics/fresh spices/some fruits for summer.
