China Glaze Hologlam Collection for Spring 2013

3…2…1…Blast off! Take your summer manicure out of this world with China Glaze® Hologlam, an all new12-piece collection of shimmering holographic nail lacquers. China Glaze® established itself as the leader in holographic nail lacquer with the 2007 OMG! collection, one of the most popular collections in the brands’ history. Fueled by that success and back by popular demand, China Glaze® Hologlam uses reflective, holographic particles to capture light and transform nails into amazing, ever-changing visual effects. With a strong linear finish whether indoor or shining bright in the sun, China Glaze® Hologlam bends and changes, creating an illuminated three-dimensional, traveling color effect across the nail.

I’m trying to figure out id these “texturize” on their own when you apply them?

I hope my Sally’s get these as i want Don’t Be A Luna-Tic, Cosmic Dust and potentially Not In This Galaxy.

You’ve never used a linear holographic nail polish before, have you? They aren’t textured at all. Apply like any other nail polish, but the REAL magic comes out when they dry. They have this effect called a linear holographic, which creates a line of rainbow down the nail when you turn your nails. They look great with a top coat to show their true magic and give them a real shine. Look up the China Glaze OMG collection for swatches! In the mean time, you can get Revvvolution and Fashion Addict by Color Club, two great linear holographic polishes that need one coat though I do two. I got mine from Bed, Bath & Beyond.

The color club holos cost more too. Maybe whatever pigment makes the holo effect is more expensive? OR…they’re smart business people and know that people will pay more for a holo effect polish. If they can make more money, they’d be dumb not to.

Roxana Avatar

RIGHT? I was SO amazed by that price. I know their original hologram polishes became cult favorites, but I’m a little bummed they’re capitalizing on that by charging double here. A little disheartening.

Yellowlantern Avatar

I don’t know how they justify it, but like another comment said other companies that put out holos bump up the price too.

Sucks since I was hoping ChG’s holos would be more affordable than other brands’ out there. I want to try a holo polish and see if I like the look, but I’m not going to pay those prices to try it.

Quinctia Avatar

I hope for CG’s sake that they’re at least as nice as the Layla holos, or else that MSRP is just not going to work out for them.

I’ll probably grab them, just because I love a good holo polish. But I feel like their timing is a bit off. Holo’s tend to lean toward the chome-finish, and for me, spring is more creamy pastels and light shimmers. Of course, they’re no rules when it comes to polish though. That’s the most wonderful thing about about nail polish – you can rock black nails all summer if it’s your thing 🙂
I’m personally most excited about Zoya’s Summer Pixie Dusts – ohhh, so beautiful!

If these really are anything like the OMG collection, I’ll buy! I still can’t find Color Club’s Worth the Risqué at Bed, Bath & Beyond and I don’t want to pay for Glitter Gal.

I’m dying over here, can NOT wait till April! I remember when I read about a new holo collection coming out and I couldn’t control my excitement sense I never got my hands on the original OMG collection. But my heart dropped when noticing the price, 14 for polish is crazy! I might have to find these on site at cheaper price for these bad boys

Sue Avatar

No, these are not textured. In fact, they’re not even linear holos. I’ve seen swatches online and am very disappointed in them. They have a holo look but it isn’t strong or linear. Color Club’s Halo Hues are much better & stronger (not affiliated with Color Club, just sayin’).

Cannot wait for these! The OMG’s quickly became cult favorites and collector’s items. I still have and cherish mine – wearing DV8 today.

They may cost a bit more, but I think they are worth it. Also my Sally’s card will at least give me a little relief from the full price.

rachel Avatar

picked up two of these today, galactic gray and strap on your moonboots…sooo disappointed!! the galactic gray is kinda cool i guess, but the other one had nearly zero holo effect. in fact from what ive seen of all of these shades, none have nearly enough holo effect to justify charging twice of what ChG normally goes for. the blue one is going back for sure, and i was so looking forward to this collection…boooo! if youre looking for cheaper holos than layla, nfu oh, etc., color clubs holo effects are MUCH stronger than this crap ChG just put out.

Andrea Avatar

That really sucks.

I’ve not seen it for anything over $10. Sally’s has it for $10, and if you have their card, it’s $1 off.

Of course, they’re out already…

An alternative many people don’t know about and is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous is Makeup Store’s versions. If you aren’t lucky enough to have one close by, you can order them. But they are linear and beautiful, and are part of their normal collection.
