Dark Energy

Terra Moons Dark Energy Duochrome Eyeshadow ($8.00 for 0.05 oz.) has a blackened purple base with blue and purple shimmer that gave it a soft, metallic sheen. The texture was denser, slightly thicker than most of the brand’s eyeshadows, but it was incredibly pigmented where a little went a long way. The denser, creamier consistency helped the product adhere evenly to bare skin and have longer wear, as it lasted for nine hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

$8.50/0.05 oz. - $170.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "blendable" and "pigmented" with "a bit of kick up" when used due to being "pressed by hand." Some shades come with "additional information" such as being sheerer on the brand's website (for that particular shade) or to use a "glitter primer" due to the finish.

I found that some matte shades were more noticeably powdery than others, but whether there was just a little bit of powderiness or more noticeable powderiness really depended on a shade. The neon shades were the most powdery and hardest to work with on their own; some had more specific tips/guidance on how to work with them, which I felt was great for disclosure, but it could get hard to remember what shade needs to be applied in such and such fashion since it really did vary a lot shade by shade. The darker and less neon matte shades tended to perform the best for me--more pigmentation, better blendability, and were easier to work with and were more consistent.

Most shades--matte and more shimmery--were pigmented, easy to blend, and applied well to bare skin. They lasted between seven and eight hours with most closer to eight hours before fading (more of the mattes) or creasing (some of the more intense metallics).

Siren

Terra Moons Siren Duochrome Eyeshadow ($8.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a light-medium green with warm, olive undertones and lighter flecks of bluish-green sparkle throughout. It was supposed to have “blue and reddish reflects,” but I found hard to see them. It didn’t have much shift to my eye–just a sparkling, metallic green.

The texture was smooth to the touch, moderately dense but more loosely-pressed, so it was best used with a lighter hand and a moderately dense brush to pick up product. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented and stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours but had light fallout over time.

Star Sign

Terra Moons Star Sign Duochrome Eyeshadow ($8.00 for 0.05 oz.) has a pale, sky blue base with fine sparkle that shifted from cool lavender to greenish-gold paired with a high-shine, metallic finish. It had opaque color coverage that applied well to bare skin and diffused nicely along the edges without sheering out too readily.

The texture was smooth to the touch, dense but not thick or overly stiff in the pan, so it was easy to work with. There were signs of fading present after eight and a half hours of wear.

OK. I was tempted so I made an order today. I included Siren and Star Sign but I left out Dark Energy (such a beautiful color but it matches some of my Sydney Grace shades). I have to be honest, I wasn’t much interested in Terra Moons before because most of what had been hyped from their collections was the super colorful shifting Multichromes which I’m not that crazy about. (I guess I’m a bit of a plain Jane that way). Terra Moons does have some lovely shimmers and duo chromes that fit right into my esthetics and I even found some “intriguing” shades to add to my order (namely Illusion, Hot Spiced Cider, and The Kiss of a Mermaid). I’m excited to try these out and already started a wishlist for when they have a big sale ( I really liked a lot of the shades from their Chameleon collection namely Midnight Winter, Veil Nebula, Helix Nebula, Inertia, Reign of Terra, Artemis, Moon Tide, UFO) and look forward to snatching these up if they are around in a Black Friday sale.

Dark Energy is basically my favorite color of eyeshadow ever. Alas, in my older age those kinds of gorgeous deep blues/teals/purples look awful on my skin now. *sigh*
