What products do you reach for when you want a grungier look?

Natasha Denona Metropolis, Sydney Grace Autumn’s Reign, or Pat McGrath Decadence palettes all give me that vibe. I’m more likely to use either Marc Jacobs Flesh & Fantasy (really goes with everything) or Fenty’s Afternoon Snack/Mo’ Honey highlighter for cheeks. For a really light look, a beige from the Pat McGrath LuxeTrance range or for something more pearly, Urban Decay Rebel Vice Lipstick.

I’ve got 2 MAC MESs that work for a smoky, grungy eye – Golden Gaze or Gilt By Association. Both give a look that is grungy without leaving me looking like I’ve been punched in both eyes! On my lips, I’d put either Smashbox Infrared or MAC Red Dwarf lipstick. But to be honest, at my age (ahem!), I don’t often go for a “grunge” look.

Melt Cosmetics’s Gemini! Or simply Rott smudged around on my lid and waterline (kohl-style) and topped with a cream whitish/silver highlight. I remember brown, silver, and a greasy wet look being very popular in the 90s for grunge.

For me it would be a grey smoked look (MAC Print eyeshadow comes first in mind), with a winged line (maybe the Physician’s Formula Eye Booster or something similar). With cheeks I would choose something subtle, like MAC Harmony or Sculpt to chisel those cheekbones. Lipstick option would depend on occasion; although MAC Diva or Cyber would come to mind first, for a casual grunge look I would go for a nude with cold undertones.

I don’t usually go for grungier looks and as I am getting older, I find I reach for more mid tone shades. But if I want a really colourful eye, I use PMG’s Sublime Mini, Lapis Luxury, Pixi Beauty Reflex Light and Huda’s Smokey Obsessions.

UD Glide-on Eye Pencil in Perversion and black mascara. Neutral, non-shimmery blush such as MAC Pink Cult or .Tarte Exposed.

I usually like red or reddish tones for grungy eye looks. Usually I’ll use Notoriously Morbid Autumn Flower or MPZ Everything Looks Better on a Meat Hook as one-and-done all around the eyes. If I get fancier, I’ll use the PML Bronze Seduction Palette or ABH Modern Renaissance. For non-red looks, I love the Musee Beauty Van Gogh Palette and UD Naked Smokey. Also, the green Kaleidos Futurism Palette, Meeshalou Cosmetics Witchcraft Palette, Karity Cosmetics Come As You Are Palette, Sydney Grace Autumn’s Reign, and ColourPop Smoke Show and Baroque.

For lips I love UD 1993, KVD Piaf, NYX Stone Fox, MAC Halsey, and vampy liquid shades from Black Moon Cosmetics. I also frequently go for an olive or grayish green.
