Good thing we follow Winston on Insta, don’t miss any of the cuteness! 🙂

Recent Purchases/discoveries:
I’ve been sitting on samples of FAB First Aid moisturizing primer and finally opened one. I really enjoy it. I mix it with my RMS Master Radiance Base Cream and it really radiates a glow under foundation.

Weekend Plans:
Dogs + Beach (rinse and repeat), getting together (with distance) with our good neighbours in their courtyard for afternoon cocktails. As of this week my hubby and I both have our first vaccinations–we were the last of our friends, so it’s a relief. Garden store, which we were supposed to do last weekend.

Looking Forward to:
I’m actually feeling a bit more positive this week about how quickly we “might” get back to normal.
I may be able to attend a twice cancelled international work trip late this fall. If so I’m looking forward to dusting off my suitcase and trying to recall all my mad carry-on-only packing skills I seem to have forgotten. 🙂

Recent Purchases: Nothing lately!

Rediscoveries: I’ve had some fun this week combining my special single shadows with the palettes in my collection. Also, using a beauty sponge for complexion products; it had been a hot minute because I switched to brushes for my bb creams.

Weekend plans: Outside time with my son: he loves to go to a nearby creek to throw sticks into the water; cleaning some, some yard work.

What are you looking forward to this year?: I got a random call from my cousin that lives in Colorado (that I don’t talk to very often) telling me he was planning a family reunion on Lake Michigan at the beginning of August and he wanted me to be there. So, spur of the moment, my husband and I booked an AirBnB in the same area as the reunion for a mini vacation. I’m very excited, not only for the family time, but to be SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE MY HOUSE AND ON THE BEACH. It will be glorious.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchase yet, but I need to do some restocks soon from MAC and Paula’s Choice.

Weekend plans: A long hike on Saturday, enjoying the slightly colder weather which allows me not to suffer from the hot sun. 😅 Otherwise just the regular long phone call with mom, chores, groceries, shopping.
On Sunday morning I will get my second vaccine shot, so I plan to keep it low key after that, preparing for any side effects (although I had none from the first dose).

What are you looking forward to this year?: I truly hope that at least towards the end of the year I will get a chance to visit my family back in Europe. Or at least have my brother come for a visit in the US, since it’s way easier for him to travel… my mom and grandparents definitely can’t make the trip.
I also look forward to work from the office. Even after more than 1 year, I still hate working from home.
I also look forward for a vacation, traveling and visiting cities and national parks.

Winston’s such a good little helper!

Purchases and rediscoveries: Nothing really this week.

Weekend plans: Weather is going to be really nice, so probably yard work and some walks. We’ll get some takeout for dinner one night. Otherwise no big plans.

What I’m looking forward to this year: Being able to see friends and hang out together on a regular basis again!

Nancy T Avatar

He’s just too funny! Love ya, Winston! 💕

Purchases/rediscoveries: Went with a friend to Bath and Body Works and took advantage of their BOGO sale. Two body sprays in Sunshine Mimosa, and a free bottle of Japanese Cherry Blossom.

Weekend Plans: Nothing out of the ordinary. My regular Zoom meeting. Pop in a load of laundry. Go for a relaxing, mentally refreshing swim. And I’m still missing my daughter and her son Elijah so very much. No amount of distraction eases it for long.

What do you look forward to this year? Getting all my ducks in a row so that I can move back east to a more temperate climate and some old friends. I just hope that I can stop procrastinating, and get to the task at hand. It just feels so monumental. And permanent. Hate to admit it, but I actually feel rather frightened and daunted by the whole shebang.

Genevieve Avatar

I can truly understand the deep pain you feel at being separated from your daughter and Elijah so much, I would feel the same way if I couldn’t see my sons and grandchildren.
It is tough to move so far east, but you have been dreaming about this for a long, long time. Perhaps if you found the location of the place you want to move to and an apartment that is suitable for you, then it would make the whole process easier because then you will have a focus and it will feel less daunting. Go for it Nancy, because you just really dislike where you are living now.

RECENT PURCHASES:. Moira Beauty Signature Ombre Blush in Morning Sunshine,Tender Rose, Bella Pink, Soft Berry, Ruby Flush, and Glow Getter Hydrating Lip Oil in Berry Berry. (Mother’s Day sale, 25 percent off).

WEEKEND PLANS: I have a virtual meeting for my younger son’s work program. We’re refinancing the house, so making things accessible for the appraisal and general housekeeping.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR?: Being able to travel now that my household is vaccinated. Hubby and I have a 30th wedding anniversary trip to Oahu scheduled for Fall.

Genevieve Avatar

I hope that your youngest son is able to return to his workplace soon, now that he is vaccinated. As far as vaccinations go, we are pretty slow here in Aus and when I checked up as to the date of my vaccinations, I was told to come back in 10 days as the local centre to me was all booked out…..
Are you doing up your house Rachel?

Kira Avatar

Loving the Winston content <3!! So happy you are with your family all together now.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Tried out the Fenty Skin face wash. It didn't fully take off my makeup and was too scented for me. Still love the Fenty Skin daytime moisturizer/suncreen and will need to pick up a refill soon.

Weekend plans: Getting drinks out, for the first time since the pandemic started — very exciting! And I need to start packing for my move in June.

What are you looking forward to this year?: Playing soccer again, going on drives and weekend trips, so many things! I know the situation around the world is so unequal, but I only hope all people can have an opportunity to get vaccinated as soon as humanly possible. For me, there was such an indescribable weight off my shoulders.

Purchases: NOTHING Rediscoveries: Sephora Eye Love Cool Medium palette and Clinique’s Jenna’s Essentials quad.

Weekend plans: NOTHING (maybe a walk to the library but that’s about it)

What are you looking forward to this year? – the end of COVID and the opportunity to see my children and their partners again; the opportunity safely to HUG the people who are dear to me; the chance to travel – first to Ottawa and then to Denmark (that was supposed to be the trip to celebrate our 40th anniversary; our 41st is in a few weeks and we still won’t be able to do it). It would be nice to be able to shop in-store for some new running shoes (I’m teaching phys ed to 2 ASD classes – only Special Education classes are still “in school” – and I could use a few new pairs of Nikes but I need to try them on) and for makeup and fabric. But those are minor compared to seeing my kids and loved ones.

Genevieve Avatar

This is the virus that keeps on giving and going on and on and on. It seems to be unrelenting. How are you finding teaching phys ed? Personally, I know about 10 games and half a dozen ball handling drills and that’s about it. Sometimes I found it tricky to teach outside, competing with the wind, the sun and the cold. At least it was better than me teaching music (nada skills there).
I truly hope that you will be able to see your children soon, I couldn’t imagine not being able to see mine -hopefully when everyone is vaccinated in your country (or the majority), things will ease.

Because of Covid restrictions, everything has to be “hands free” for these students. All have severe Autism and are non-verbal. I know most of the students from past years, which is why they asked me to come in (a familiar face makes a huge difference). The activities had to be changed (no more riding a stationary bike, doing bean bag tosses, etc.) and so the regular teacher set up a circuit for them that is all hands free and works on balance, co-ordination, etc. and we do this every day. The kids are all accustomed to checking their schedules (picto-gram type pictures on velcro) and this has always been the way in their classroom and in the gym but the activities have had to change (in class too – they can no longer go to the grocery store to choose items for their cooking/baking day, can no longer go swimming, etc.). One student is severely affected and he’s not a little kid (these are teens and a few 20+). His regular teacher is punched and head-butted regularly (as in numerous times per day) so he is quite a challenge but a bicycle (really a tricycle) was specially built for him and it arrived just when I started and it’s a god-send. He enjoys gym class now, the other students in the class aren’t terrified and in tears during gym and the EAs don’t have to keep chasing him (he escapes the building often but this seems to be getting better). He’s over 6 feet tall and he’s a teen so when he runs, we have little chance of catching him, but I’ve suggested we try running the other way or not running at all so that he will want to come back to us and it doesn’t seem like a game (other staff in the building are on “high alert” just to place themselves in front of exterior doors but in a neutral type position if they see him taking off down a hallway). It seems to be working but there’s a huge concern about his safety.

As for my own kids, the lockdown here has been extended at least to the first week of June. Two of the 3 are near enough that when the lockdown is lifted (whenever that will be), we’ll be able to see one another but my older son is on field exercises in “Middle of Nowhere” (actually Wainwright), Alberta, and will be in the process of moving there for the next few years – not his choice, obviously – so even if we fly out to Edmonton (if/when we’re able to fly), he’ll still have to drive 2 hours to see us though apparently a lot of the soldiers stationed there do this very thing for the weekend to go somewhere with a bit more excitement than a town with one movie theater and a WalMart. Once he’s back from the field, at least we’ll be able to do face-time type calls with him, though.

It’s such a life change when families move closer together. So wonderful when there are positive relationships! I love hearing about that. I am glad to be close to my mom.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I just got the Enchanted Lustre Dragon Prism 2 palette and the Enchanted Lustre Fluoroprisms bundle!!! I hope to use two of them today!!
Weekend plans: No plans at all but I’m good with this! I’m battling a skin infection 🙁
What are you looking forward to this year?: Seeing friends in person again!

Mary Avatar

Winston! so adorable…lol…
.rediscoveries? My Flower Beauty Wanderlust eyeshadow pallet in “Austin Downtown Dusk” it’s been dc’d but remains one of my favorites and one that I use every color.
Weekend plans? errands ..in B.C. we’re still under essential travel only but I don’t mind the weather is beautiful right now so I’m good with it.
What am I looking forward to ? Just a return to some type of normalcy..I miss travel, museums , movies ..dinner out .

How cute is Winston investigating the dishwasher! Harry has started to crawl a bit more and has started investigating the tiles, under the coffee table in our family room and anywhere else he can get to.

Recent Purchases: On Mother’s Day I visited a large shopping centre and did a bit of beauty retail therapy. I purchased some of the Inky skincare products – cleanser, moisturiser and serum and then I went to Mecca and purchased a 100 Bon perfume and a Mecca lipstick in a bronzey red.

Weekend Plans: The weather is freezing here, with lots of rain and hail predicted, so it will be an indoor kind of weekend.
Last week, on Mother’s Day, Olivia fell off the horse whilst riding at her other grandparent’s property. A trip to hospital and X rays revealed a fractured elbow and an immediate operation to repair the damage. So she will be in a cast for 6-8 weeks. She is handling it all very well, but not a fun Mother’s day for mum…
Hopefully on Sunday we will go out for a Sunday lunch and drive in the countryside.

Looking forward to this year: That the vaccines all work and that countries devasted by the virus can start to get back to normal.
Hopefully we will be able to go on a short holiday this year within our state – every time there is a case of Covid, the borders get locked down and you could easily find yourself stranded if you go interstate.

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Rachel – she is handling it all so well and has not let her slow her down at all. The first couple of nights home were tricky as she couldn’t turn over in bed and was in a bit of pain, but that has all eased now. She is due to have an Xray on Monday to see if everything is healing OK.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Bought Kaleidos’ Club Nebula on Mercari (kept missing the releases), and the Zendo palette, also some 2015 Suqqu palettes for my collection through eBay. The Dior forever skin glow foundation on a friend’s strong recommendation and it lives up to the hype, and 2 Hermes blushes and 3 lipsticks via Selfridges. The lighter pink blush is quite lovely. And a few brushes, including WG #16 (my favorite goat-hair blender). Oh and a Marc Jacobs liner in olive, on 50% sale at Sephora.

Weekend plans: none

What are you looking forward to this year?: more family time

Kimberly Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My Kaleidos order finally arrived! I got the Club Nebula and Futurism III palettes, the Space Age highlighters in “Sky Walker” and “Mars Melter”, and the Lucid Lip in “Hypnotize”

Weekend plans: I got the second shot of my vaccine on Friday, so I’m giving myself this Saturday to recover in case I get any symptoms. But this Sunday is my last day of training at my new job, but they were kind enough to give me a later start in case I’m still not feeling 100%

What are you looking forward to this year?: I’m currently making plans to take a visit to see my best friend in the summer now that we’re both fully vaccinated

Nikki Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Just ordered some clearanced-out Revlon Ultra HD lip products from Walgreens (lip lacquers and gel lipsticks that were still in the Walgreens warehouse and I’m pretty sure ended up discontinued) last night-Carnelian, Fire Opal, Pink Amethyst, Pink Diamond, and Tourmaline glosses and Garden, Lava, and Tropical gel lipsticks. CVS is clearancing out the Rhubarb gel lipstick, and I think I want that one too.
Weekend plans: Worked all day today, the main weekly grocery run tomorrow evening (we supplement with smaller trips as needed), not sure about Sunday.
What are you looking forward to this year?: Once enough people get vaccinated here in Ohio that I feel comfortable regularly going without a mask (the state mask mandate is officially repealed June 2, but I still want to see a higher vaxx rate or a continued stabilization of cases before I reach the point of being regularly comfortable), being able to wear lipstick in public again will mean I’ll finally feel fully dressed!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing
Weekend plans: Love seeing Winston! We are going to go out to my son’s new property and visit his new little puppy Max an Australian Shepard, masks and social distancing still, Alberta is a hot bed of a third wave of covid.
What are you looking forward to this year?: The vaccine’s rolling out and everyone back to some semblance of normalcy, travelling to BC to see my family. VEGAS! We miss Vegas so much! We miss the US so much! We miss everyone so much! Hugs! Oh my gosh everyone is going to be hugged to death!

Genevieve Avatar

How lovely to see a brand new puppy and Australian Shephard dogs are just full of fun. What a worry that your state is still experiencing waves of Covid – it creates so much uncertainty. It will be so lovely when we can even travel interstate – I am hesitant to do this as the moment a state has 5 cases, the state govt. locks down all borders and you could easily be stranded. And that wouldn’t be fun at all.

brendacr1 Avatar

Yes new puppies are fun Genevieve. We haven’t been hearing anything on the news lately about Australia. I think our lock down is starting to take effect the numbers are dropping and also they have opened the vaccines to ages 12 and up so I think that has had an effect too. Can’t wait to see the end of this pandemic! It’s starting to get warm here so summer is on the way and that is always a nice sign!
