Well hello, inclusive shade range and darling packaging! I had scoffed at the idea of another celebrity beauty line, but color me impressed.
Gosh, it’s not a great time to launch a whole new celebrity makeup brand. The packaging feels like a Colour Pop version of Fenty Beauty (round shapes instead of hexagons). I wonder how this will do – especially items like the whipped matte colorful lip products and the extensive highlighter range. I wonder if Sephora has more celebrity/Sephora exclusive makeup launches in the works for this year, and if they took money away from the rewards program and put it into product development.
I’m actually pleasantly surprised with the shade range and the fact that there’s at least one olive shade for each depth! I’d love to see 100W and 170W in less doctored swatches. I’m not usually into celebrity makeup brands, but this one seems well thought out! I wish brands would stop putting doe foot applicators on foundations though, even more so with “clean” or paraben-free formulations.
There are definitely some things to be excited about here, as well as some things that would have me very cautious and waiting for a wide range of reviews before I bought anything. The liquid blush and highlight sounds like it could be very neat if the performance is there, but the price point does seem pretty nice. For me right now this is just a big “we’ll see,” but a lot of that just has to do with the state of the world right now. It would be a shame to see an inclusive foundation/concealer range have a weak launch because of … everything.
I’m really surprised at how well thought out and inclusive this is. The price point is nice too. Looking forward to reviews.
I am really pleased by the shade range here! It seems well thought out and not carelessly thrown together. And while I’ll probably need to see official swatches in reviews, this range looks both evenly distributed across skin tones and undertones.
I’m also really happy that I feel like I can save my money here, as nothing here particularly appeals to me sans the cream blushes, but I do like that this has a very nice, no makeup-makeup Glossier-esque aesthetic to those who would prefer a Sephora alternative to them.
Overall I suspect this will do well for those who want a toned down aesthetic and I give Selena & her team kudos for coming out with nearly a full set of products sans eyeshadow & bronzer. This is a great selection both in colors and shade ranges, and I find it to be somewhat refreshing.
Ooo…I want some of these…love the shade range and variety of undertones!
Like what I’m seeing so far. I’d have to check out swatches and ingredients before I can think about getting anything though
Just what we needed, ANOTHER celebrity beauty brand.
Right? I applaud the inclusiveness and the price point, but I squirm Internally at the blatant money grab. I don’t buy anything Kardashian nor anything from the horrible youtuber personalities, etc…
Kudos for having a good foundation shade range, and a decent selection of products. The packaging looks OK. This brand looks promising.
I wonder if it will be sold internationally too, and I will probably try some if it’s available on my country.
I think Fenty Beauty paved the way for this brand : it seems that people were very wary of a makeup brand by a celebrity when it came out, and we saw that a lot of their products are pretty good, and I think we are more open now for Rare Beauty.
This might be a winner! I like the shade names and the vibe of the collection. A positive vibe is so appealing right now!
Before swatches and the YT video of a MUA doing a model’s full look, I was most definitely not interested in yet another celebrity launch. But I love the shade range (most companies IMO overdo the warm tones and don’t have enough cool ones), the price point, and the retro, minimalist packaging. Also love that it’s not launching with a ginormous palette. I hope eyeshadows are added eventually, would expect muted ones like Glossier’s Skywash. Will wait for reviews but I’m interested in the primer and foundation to start.
Not only impressed by the packaging and range, but the price in Canada is great!
$19 for concealer, $20 for liquid blush and liquid lip, $16 for lip balm, $22 for luminizer and $29 for foundation… I hope they perform well!
I like very much the concept of the foundations. Not only the range includes a wide spectrum of different dephts (so it is inclusive and it is always nice to see this in the beauty industry), but it takes int accounts also different tones and undertones that skintones with the same depth could have. I think that tones and undertones are very underrated when it comes to foundation, but this is a very common reason why people struggle to find a perfect match
Honestly I almost did not look, but I am intrigued. Well thought out, seems like colors for everyone. I really like how she names the shades so they make sense, like “C” for cool, and “N” for neutral. So frustrating when it is not done like that, I just pass. Will be hard since you can’t get samples and have to guess, this makes it much simpler. What stood out to me are the names of the colors of the lippies and blush. Really nice to see “positive” names. We need more of that. Tired of all the “grab your attention” sexual names.
Wow! Olive shades in all categories. Best release ever!
I respect everything wonderful Selena and Rare Beauty did with the brand… but if I see another 40-50 minutes review of the brand in my feed I will go nuts. ?
Can brands do releases without oversaturating the media? We need reviews… but maybe stagger them? Maybe let people collaborate for a joint review on multiple skin types / colors? Something else other than everybody and their mother reviewing the same thing. And for most people there was a noticeable difference in their videos structure and length, compared to regular content; everything seemed so scripted…
Just as a heads up – I can tell you on my end that staggering does more to hurt the content maker than anything else – having it late just means you’re not doing the best job for your audience, as that’s where I am right now! For example, I purchased a lot of products, but now I’m not sure I should have bothered because of this type of mentality, which I definitely understand as that’s why I’m assessing whether I should do anything after all (despite spending almost $1,000 on it, lol!). By the time I get my order, photograph everything, and start writing reviews, I’m sure you, like everyone else, will be tired of hearing about them!
Maybe it’s just another personal opinion, but people would at least appreciate having the lip products and blushes swatches for future reference, your photos are most times better quality than the brands have. You’re doing a great job with building this huge library of beauty info, it doesn’t matter if sometimes is a little bit delayed.
It’s hard to photograph/swatch alone because that takes up a lot of the time, so it puts me really behind to do so – like I can’t review in a timely fashion other products if I spent the days prior just photographing/swatching something else – hopefully that makes sense. I can’t do both. If I swatch/photograph, then I need to review those. For example, I did not bother to review Haus Labs due to the number of reviews and a lot of those reviews being pretty ho-hum. The reality is that a lot of people are kind of enough to say they don’t mind a delay, but on my end, the numbers do not reflect it in the end – the majority of people want it first/ASAP and many people turn elsewhere if you do not have it when they need it.
Just wanted to provide some food for thought from the other side! Sorry if that was very hard to understand.
