If you had to, what lipstick would you let go of first?

Though I don’t keep most of them (especially from non-core brands, e.g. MAC or NARS), any and all liquid lipsticks that dry down and are drying can pretty much take a hike! In an alternate universe, I’d keep maybe two or three for that ultra-rare occasion where I’d sacrifice comfort for extreme longevity!

By color, opaque coral and warm pink, then fuchsia. Keep one sheer in each. Then any Nars in the rubberized tube that I haven’t been able to repurchase yet.

I have a bunch of dry-down liquid lipsticks that I hate wearing. Or maybe MAC Kinda Sexy and Vegas Volt, two shades that look hideous on me that are currently in my Back-to-MAC pile. Or my collection of KVD lipsticks which I just can’t bring myself to wear anymore. Or the two awful lipsticks I bought from Color My World because in a moment of I-should-have-known-better stupidity I fell for their “for mature lips” advertising. It’s so hard to choose…I have so much that needs to go!

My NABLA Creamy Matte lipsticks. I love the formula of these except for the menthol in them. This burns my lips a bit. While not as bad as peppermint oil, I still prefer my lipsticks/glosses to not have any plumping agents in them.

I agree with you Chirstine!! I have yet found a liquid lipstick that is non drying for me. I am so glad gloss and sheer lipsticks are making a come back. Also I personally really don’t look good in darker lip colors, so those can all go.

Probably anything cool/blue-toned, bubblegum pink. There are a few days when it makes sense with my look (if I’ve got cool pink on the eyes + cheeks and am going for a monochrome look), but they’re few and far between. I’m so warm-toned that they look ridiculous on me otherwise.

I’m probably in the minority, but I’ve already discarded or given away most any that weren’t right for me for various reasons. I used to own almost 40 lipsticks and now I’m down to 9. And as it is, if I put one on and don’t like how the color looks on me or how it applies or wears off, out it goes right then. I just don’t wear lipstick often enough to justify keeping around any stinkers. And with mandated masks, I anticipate that I’ll pare down my lipstick supply even more.

I went from about 80 or so down to 20 (I include my tinted balms in this figure – I wear tinted balms pretty much daily and rotate colors). I am now ruthless with my lipsticks. I will give them a few tries, but if the color never seems to work with my looks or skin tone or formula isn’t enjoyable for me to wear it’s out. I will give to one of my friends. No point in letting them clutter up my organizers or vanity just because I wish they worked well for me, they don’t do me any good just sitting there for months or years or longer.

I’d dump all but one of my dark lipsticks, and keep that to sheer out as a stain, or use under another color. Dark colors just don’t work anymore on my (over 60) lips. I’ve been winnowing them over time, but at this point what am I waiting for?…maybe someone who’d get use from them after a brisk rubdown with isopropyl…

You made me re-evaluate my stash, Christine.

I have to agree, all my Colour Pop Ultra Matte liquid lippies, which I have the most, need to be culled.
I have not reached for those FOREVER, in part because of the drying, in part because of the way they wear. I have some pretty bad photos taken after a couple hours at an event (just drinking–not eating) and only the outer 1/2 of my lips are still intact–it’s not a good look.

Probably my darker berry shades – I find I just don’t wear this kind of colour now as they are too dark for me – Bite Beauty’s Nori is an example.
Another set of shades that I would ‘let go’ would be some darker browns – Cinnamon from CP and Chocalatier for the same reason as above.

Timely. I got Invisalign last week so the answer is all reds, pinks, bright colors, etc. Actually probably all of them except limited are going to my bestie.

My Coloupop ones. In fact I just threw them all away about two weeks ago. While many of the shades are almost exact dupes or higher end brands, they didn’t perform as well as the higher brand ones.

I also threw away my Colourpop eye shades too as they dried up so fast.
