How do you store and organize your eye products?
Smaller format palettes, like duos or quads, I keep within a brand’s drawers, along with single eyeshadows (except for MAC, which I have some in cardboard boxes as overflow). For larger format palettes, some are organized by brand and then stored on shelves, while brands I have less palettes of go into larger, plastic bins by type of brand (affordable, high-end, niche, mid-end).
I have an acrylic organizer that I store my larger palettes in, on top of my vanity. The single shadows/smaller palettes are in one small drawer of my vanity.
Palettes: I have an acrylic organizer with slots for each palette. It stands up, so the palettes go in horizontally. I’ve decluttered my palettes, so it holds only the ones I might use. The rest went into a declutter box for future consideration.
Eyeshadow singles: I use a 32-compartment Darice bead organizer that I got at Joann craft store. Each compartment perfectly fits one MAC, UD, or CP Super Shock single. I love it because I can open the lid and easily see all the colors, but I also printed a “map” of the shades on the inside of the lid. Singles are organized by brand, then shade.
Long skinny eye products: I have an acrylic organizer that has several attached cups that hold eyeliners, mascaras, Caviar Sticks, and brow pencils.
That’s a smart way to store singles! I may steal your idea when I reorganize mine.
I saw this idea somewhere online, so I stole it from someone else. ? I took a MAC single to the craft store to make sure it fit. It’s not the most attractive way to store them, but it works perfectly.
Good ideas were meant to be stolen, ha, ha. Seriously, though, I don’t care about looks. It would just be good to have a way to see them more clearly inside their storage.
I used those monthly beauty subscription boxes (Birchbox, Target, etc…) and put the lid underneath and sort them in those. The top two drawers of my high dresser are shallow so I store all the boxes in there. Great for single Colourpop shadows too!
I’ve currently been struggling with this. I’m trying to leave all products on the top of my desk, so I went to The Container Store and bought some holders, one for shadow palettes and one for oversizes cheek products. The first two I bought were way too small for some of my eye palettes, so I had cheeks and eyes mixed.
I was out the other week with a good friend and we went into a hardware/kitchen supply store. They had a cabinet organizer that looked big enough, so last week I ordered it on Amazon. It’s long enough for my Melt & Dominique Cosmetics palettes, but all of my palettes look clunky. A work in progress!
Oh, I know this will be embarrassing because I am not a blogger or vlogger. But here we go!
Most of my eyeshadow palettes take up an entire large dresser drawer that used to be my sock drawer. The top drawer of a sterilite container houses most of my eyeshadow singles. The middle drawer of the same container contains extra palettes that would not fit into the sock drawer. However, my MAC Pro singles are mostly housed in Elf quads that are in an old MAC LE holiday Lipglass package. And then there are all the random Nyx and a few other DS brands that are stored in another drawer in a different dresser.
Obviously I need an intervention!
I have a very low tech system: two drawers of an Idea Alex are dedicated to palettes. Top drawer are my preferred formulas stored by brand. Second drawer is a crazy mismatch of palettes I no longer reach for but still feel the need to hold onto for now. eg. ABH Modern Ren and Raine Queen of Hearts. I still love them but ?♀️
I store them in a drawer in my dresser. I guess there is no way to show photos of this??
My only palette (custom made) sits in my make-up drawer, upwards leaning between the drawer wall and the plastic tray holding my complexion liquid products.
Ok, so all of my single-size products live in a rolling three drawer plastic filing cabinet type thing. Within those drawers are some stacking organizers. For eye products, there’s one for eyeliners, one for single shadows/loose pigments, and one for glitter (yeah, I use glitter on my eyes, I like to live dangerously).
My palettes are housed in a plastic crate that sits on the shelf above that rolling cabinet (my bathroom has a short of built-in shelving area). Currently the crate exactly holds all my palettes, so I guess I can’t buy anymore, or I’ll have to get rid of some of what I have 😉
My singles and small palettes are in a clear lucite drawer/makeup storage system on my bathroom counter. Those are the ones I reach for frequently when I’m working. My palettes are stored on their edge in bins in one of the deep bathroom drawers. There’s also some overflow in a plastic shoe box under my bathroom sink, but most of those are bad colors or just palettes I don’t like as much so I hardly need them for anything.
All the ones I’m “into” at a given moment are stacked on top of each other by size on either side of a lucite makeup drawer on top of storage trunks (that are also stacked next to my bed). The rest are in the second trunk, so I REALLY must want a particular palette in order to take it out. So sadly, I don’t turnover on my palettes as I’d like due to the “out-of-sight-reach” syndrome. 🙁 Periodically, I look at the current ones and change them out, but not very often.
(I had to move out of my makeup room a while ago, and I’m still slowly going through a decluttering process and moving things out of drawers and onto shelves in my bedroom. There’s no room for my desk and other drawers. So everything is not in it’s final place yet.)
Eye products are by far my biggest category of items.
*Eye primers are on my “vanity” (a small computer desk now). A couple backups are in a drawer.
*Colored mascaras and mascara primers are in a case on shelf.
*Unopened black mascaras are in an old subscription service box. I saved the cuter boxes from when I used to get them.
*ColourPop SSS and gel pot eyeliners are kept upside down in their own sub service boxes.
*Eyeliner pencils are in grouped by colors in various cups, but I’m going to move them into rectangular, 3-section brush holders that my husband is 3D printing for me.
*I keep a black liquid eyeliners in brush and pen form on my vanity. I don’t own a ton of liquid eyeliners, so the other colors and glitter liners are in a makeup bag.
*Pro pans and depotted singles are in Zpalettes. I organize by brand, then group by color in magnetic palettes. Random singles are sorted by color in matching-colored Zpalettes. Non-depotted singles are in an old sub service box.
*Larger eyeshadow palettes are stacked on shelves in plastic custom bracket holders my husband 3D printed for me. I sort by size, then by color story (neutral palettes, color palettes, brights palettes, etc.).
*Small palettes used to live in a drawer, and are now are on a shelf. Duos, trios, and quads: Some are in drawers, others are in old sub service boxes, and sorted by brand. All these are awaiting new containers, decluttering, and reorganization, and will be stored in containers on shelves.
*Loose eyeshadows are sorted by color family in labeled, clear, lidded containers. Loose glitters are kept in their own old sub service box.
