What's your favorite type of finish for your eyeshadow?

Really rich, smooth metallics–the kind that are bright and shiny but very, very smooth so they look almost “melted” on the skin.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Finishes like MAC’s Velux Pearl and Inglot’s Pearl typify my favourite type of finish – a rich sheen without flaky glitter. I do use matte shadows as well, for contouring and blending but in terms of favourites, I love me some sheen, so I do!

Shimmer, satin and metallic if it’s not super reflective. Mattes have a purpose for me, especially in the crease, but rarely seem exciting. (The plain baked potato of eyeshadows?)

I actually love good mattes and satines if the formula provides rich payoff and easy blending. My other favourites are shimmers, soft, glowy, wet-looking shimmers.
Metallics are okay, but definitely not my favourite.
