How do cream (or liquid) eyeshadows fit into your routine?
On a regular basis, they don’t find their way into my looks. I really enjoy them, but I still will reach for powder eyeshadow instead, which makes some sense as I tend to use five hundred shades at once and that’s easier to do with powders.
I love them
I’m not sure if these are technically considered cream eyeshadows, but I wear Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks more often than powder shadow. They’re quick and easy to use, blend beautifully, and last all day. I also use them to line my bottom lash line. I have six shades, but I can see myself getting more in the future. As much as I adore powder shadows, if I had to I could live with just a good assortment of LM Caviar Sticks.
I’ve got a toddler and I’m limited to the 3 minute makeup look. I absolutely love cream shadows. They are my go to and help to give a put together look.
They’re not a part of my daily routine, but they are something I turn to when I want a very quick one-shadow look. My favorite cream eyeshadow is Marie Antoinette from Charlotte Tilbury. The formula is perfect and I would love to get the more coppery shade as well as the olive green at some point.
I have mainly used cream/liquid/crayon eyeshadows for the last couple of years. They are quick & easy to get a polished look. The ones I choose look nice on my older eyes.
I put them on my lid, fade them up into the crease with my Mac 252 brush, add liner & mascara. Done.
They don’t. I used to enjoy a simple one and done with a pot or liquid, but now I feel like I look tired.. my hoods are heavier/droopier and prone to eye crease gunk ?. I typically wear a lifted eye look so now I’m accustomed to the extra ‘help’. I stick to powders.
I honestly don’t own a single cream shade and don’t feel like I need to. I can see how they would be simple for a one and done wash of color, but I tend to do at least a crease shade (even with just a bronzer) and a lid shade and it is simple with powder and I barely have to buff if I apply with a really fluffy so in my mind that seems easier than a cream. I also have super oily lids and, perceived or reality, I feel like a cream would be harder for me so I avoid them.
Barely at all. I’m a powder eyeshadow fiend. Mostly due to a lifetime of having to deal with oily heavily hooded lids, I haven’t always had the best of luck with cream or liquid eyeshadows. Now that my lids aren’t really so oily anymore, I can wear one occasionally. But I don’t have very many.
I like cream shadows but I don’t use them nearly as much as I do powder shadows. So I usually buy cream shadows in a tube (instead of a pot where you dip into) because they’ll usually last longer from a hygiene standpoint.
I have two Colourpop Super Shock Shadows that I’ll use sometimes on the lid or inner corner in lieu of a powder shimmer/metallic, since both of them are fairly unique shades in my collection. I also have three Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencils, but I don’t use them often. The white (Milk) and champagne pink (Yogurt) I occasionally use in the waterline, and the dark brown (Dark Brown) I’ll occasionally use as a dark base to make duochrome eyeshadows pop.
They absoluetly do not my skin is way too oily for creams or liquids.
I’ve got about 4 cream/liquid ones and they’re nice when I want a one-shade more metallic look on my eyelid. I still use my deep-set and overall- powder shades that I always use elsewhere, but the cream/liquid ones are an ironclad look that have zero fallout. I found out when I went to FL that they also wear well in more humid weather (at least the brand/shades that I own).
They’re a yes for me. Love Colour Pop SSS, and use Stila Glimmer and Glow (and a few of the Glitter ones too). I like the long lasting reflective finish they can have, colors often seem more intensef/complex, I enjoy how they feel during application. Haven’t had problems using as a lid color and adding a crease shade in a cream or powder formula. My ‘looks’ are simple, and they suit my purposes.
I mainly just use cream shadows that are very sparkly and use them as a topper to add a pop of shimmer to a look without needing a glitter glue.
They simply don’t fit, I just prefer powders.
Like Seraphine, I love the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. I use them frequently and although I have hooded eyes, they don’t budge or crease on me. I have four shades, I think. I would love to see her release a shade of burgundy, similar to the Bordeaux shade that Ellis Faas use to have. For one and done looks, I pretty much just use cream shadows. I have several from Tom Ford, Chanel, Armani and others. I love New Moon from Chanel and Platinum from Tom Ford. Don’t know if ColourPop SSS would technically be a cream but I am going to lump them in here and then there are also the liquid and cream toppers that I have. So overall, I have and use quite a few.
Ooh, a burgundy Caviar Stick would be nice! The only thing I don’t like about them is the limited shade range. I’d especially love a cool matte shade similar to ColourPop’s Clubhouse.
Yes, I am always down for cooler shades. I think I use Cobblestone the most out of the Caviar Sticks and it is just a great, easy, neutral shade. I am with you that she should expand her range. I don’t think she has added a shade in a very long time. I hope they don’t stop producing them.
They don’t fit regularly into my routine. Sometimes I’ll use a sparkly ColourPop SSS or a metallic or sparkly liquid as a lid topper. Even more rarely, I’ll do a full look with the ColourPop. Most creams crease on me, so I avoid them.
I love cream shadows like MAC Paint Pots and stick ones like Lise Watier’s or Laura Mercier’s for quick “one and done” looks that last all day without a lot of fussing. I also really love them as bases to enhance the colour (and staying power) of powder shadows I put on top of them. I don’t use them as much in combination with one another as I find it a bit trickier blending 2 or 3 shades of cream (or stick) shadows than I do with blending powder shadows so if I use them on their own, it’s generally in those “one and done” looks I mentioned.
I agree about using more than one shade of cream or stick. I can’t blend more than one so I just use one. Using powder shadow with cream or stick is no issue though.
I don’t really have any cream or liquid eyeshadows, as my mature, hooded eyes don’t really suit this medium.
I use cream eyeshadows pretty often… Most of the ones I have are good for one-shadow looks! NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha is my main go-to shadow for work when I’m not feeling fancy.
I like them and have several different kinds from Colourpop SSS and Jelly Much shadows to Stila glitters and shimmers as well as crayon / stick eyeshadows and Hourglass scattered lights. I go through phases where I will incorporate these into looks, but right now I’m just grabbing for palettes because they’re easier when I’m getting ready in a hurry. If I plan my look in advance I can pick a cream shadow to go with a palette, but I haven’t done that lately. I did recently purchase the Melt Cosmetics Twenty Seven palette which you reviewed as having good mattes but not great shimmers and I was like “that’s ok I have plenty of cream shadows I can pair with it” so I’m looking forward to that combo.
Love cream shadows, particularly eyeshadow sticks, although my current favorite is Chanel’s Liquid Quartz Rose. It pops on in a flash; stays all day; and the color is gorgeous!
They’re all I wear, I’m living the one n’done single shadow life! I’ve gotten rid of all of my powdered shadows except for one Dior quint.
I wear them about 50% of the time. They check a lot of boxes for me. I can buy them as singles, lots of simple yet elegant eye looks, they tend to look better on my drier than usual lids and are easy to apply.
I love discovering new formulas and shade ranges.
The only two drawbacks are the expiration dates, which I follow-unlike powder shadows and the generally limited shades available-unlike powders too.
Love using my creams for either an all over wash or as a primer to give my semi-sheer application of lid shadow extra oomph and staying power.
