Do you usually use an eyeshadow palette alone or combine it with another palette?
Both! For larger palettes, I’ll use them alone but also in combination with another palette, whether for transition shades or just to switch it up. For quads, I tend to use two together over just one.
I love a palette I can use on its own but some of my favourites (the ABH “Mario” one for example) don’t contain a brow bone/inner lid highlighter for my skin colour and preference so I will reach for a single or another palette. I’ll do the same if I want a hit of bright colour when I’m using a neutral palette. And sometimes, it’s just fun to mix and un-match!
I cannot seem to not combine multiple palettes, even larger ones. It’s in my DNA.
Both. The palettes I’ve been happy using alone are CP Going Coconuts and an old UD palette called Ammo.
That all depends on both the palette and the look I have in mind! Whenever I use an all shimmer palette, I will bring in mattes from another palette or quad for at least my transition shade. My browbone shade is almost always MAC Orb no matter if a palette has a browbone shade or not, unless I’m using ABH Mod Ren in some capacity.
Almost always multiple palettes. I typically pull shades from 2-4 palettes for a look. And I generally use bronzer as a transition instead of eyeshadow. The only time I stick to a single palette is if I’m travelling!
If I’m traveling, or doing my makeup in a hurry, I try to grab one palette that I can work from. But if I’m at home and I have time to “play”, I love to mix and match across palettes! Usually I’ll see one color I like, and think “Oh, wouldn’t it look perfect with that one shade in another palette?” Or I might be trying to match multiple colors in a palette.
I do have to say that the current trend towards monochrome palettes has made it a lot easier to do a pretty all-green look without having to pull out 4 palettes to get all the right tones and finishes, LOL.
Usually just one alone, as it’s faster and easier. However, sometimes I need to pull in a light enough crease shade, brow bone shade, or a deepening shade that’s not black. Other times, I want to pull in a pop of color, or use a shimmery topper from another palette.
You won’t see me bother using multiple palettes or even supplementing a palette with a single shadow. 😆 That’s why I love just having one custom made eye-shadow palette… I need getting just one thing. I don’t like to have many things in from of me when doing make-up, it’s frustrating and overwhelming for me.
Lately it’s been more than one because I have ben using Good As Gone from UD Born to Run for my eyebrows. I always combine ABH Jackie Aina with MR because the transition shades from JA are a little darker or more orange than I like but I love the JA shimmers (Wigglese, Zamn , Sponsored) on my lids. At some point I might depot some of the pans from each of those to create a single palette with the shades I prefer.
If I use a second palette, it’s usually because I’m using eyeshadow as eyeliner (tiny brush with setting spray), and the one I want is from a different palette.
Both as well. I do prefer to use one palette, but sometimes I reach for another to get the shade I am after.
It depends on if I’m going for a specific look. If I am being lazy I’ll just stick with the same palette
Or sometimes 1 palette doesn’t have enough mattes to balance out the eyeshadow so I need to use another one
Foundation or concealer are my usual base for shadows, cheek highlight goes in my inner corners, contour gives depth in my crease – so given how I apply shadows I often only need a lid shadow or two. That’s easy enough to find in one palette or a single. If I want something else, like more deepening,
shine or color, I have a well-loved Elf quad of lt-med browns, and MAC x Aliyah 9-pan in the car. I line w/ pencils mostly, since they’re fast and easy, and easliy done while driving. So I guess that counts as two palettes, or palette plus singles, on the days I apply in bathroom and in transit.
If I’m travelling I will just take a one and done palette. But if I’m at home I can use more than one, just depends what I’m up to.
I do both!
Although each of these are great alone, here are some great combos:
UD Naked 3 + Huda Topaz Obsessions
UD Naked 1 + Viseart Liaison
UD Born to Run (by it self)
UD Naked 2 + Viseart Coy
I do a bit of both. Often I use one palette but just as often, I find I need a pearl or matte to finish a look. In those cases, I will dip into another palette.
Both-which one depending on my mood and time constraints.
I like to combine palettes! I love finding new palette parings within my collection. I find if I combine palettes I can usually dupe anything new that comes out.
