Liquid Eyeshadows

I love how intense a liquid formula can make the color appear; they often have a deeper, richer look to them, but it’s finding a formula that packs that level of pigmentation, dries down fast enough, and is still blendable enough to make it easy to work with that’s key.

I love how the metallics can look positively molten metal-like! And that the more matte/satin shades can look very skin-like and “natural” looking, as if they are a part of me.

What I dislike is how quickly one might have to work before it sets. Or, conversely, that it may take too long to dry, causing creasing due to my having very hooded lids. Another problem is that if my eyes begin to tear, these are far more difficult to pat back into place than powders.

Liquid eyeshadows are one of those things I love on other people, but I don’t like for my routine.
The make-up looks others manage with them are sometimes amazing (especially metallics, another thing I won’t try on myself 😆 ). But I just don’t like applying liquids on my eye lids, I just prefer powders.

I like them for simple eye looks because they are fast and impactful. I’m less inclined to use liquids for a more detailed eye look.. too afraid of creasing, improper setting, patchiness etc… They are all different animals even within the same formula… Hell, I even have issues with my eyelids left to right. My right eye is more hooded and crepey.

I love liquid eyeshadows on others, especially non traditional shades. And when applied properly they can be stunning. But alas and alack, I cannot apply them myself, owing to needing my glasses on to do so. Secondly I have hooded eyes and their effect would be lost on me.

I love them for those days when I don’t have time at 6 am for elaborate looks. I can apply them with my finger or with a brush, then I just add a powder eyeshadow in the crease, eyeliner, mascara and I’m done with the eyes.

I like a lot the Armani Eye Tint in Cold Copper (no. 9). It blends like a dream and this particular shade stays all day on my eyelids without creasing. I’m eager to try the new Chanel Ombre Première Laque formula.

Love how easy they are to apply. A good formula doesn’t show off skin issues, like powders tend to highlight. Usually quick to dry. Portable. Usually no fallout, even with very glittery shades.
I don’t like if it doesn’t dry down, especially if it feels sticky. I have sensitive eyes and there are a lot of formulas that make my eyes water until I remove them.

Right now, I have too much going on to attempt the learning curve. As one commentor daid, though, they can be used w powder shadows. That does pique my interest.

Like- When you find a good formula that hides crepeyness, doesn’t crease, blends easily, has beautiful shades, and performs beautifully across shades offered then you have a keeper. The best I have found are the ones you have pictured here. The Giorgio Armani Eye Tints- I love each and everyone in my collection.
Dislike- When they discontinue and change shades for a packaging change. Having to try tubes from different lines to find ones that don’t set too quickly, dont take too long to set, crease, are too glittery hence emphasize crepeyness.
I do love them when they work but get very frustrated when they dont live up to my expectations.

I have too many and never seem to reach for them. Most apply patchy and I feel they are clumsy even when I use (and I generally do) a brush to sheer them out then apply a second coat once the first dries down.
I find them best as a base, but that means I now have a lot of $$ base products. I do seem to get watery eyes more frequently with them too, for some reason.
