Do you time your purchases to coincide with sales?
If I can, yes. If I’m replacing skincare or trying out new skincare, unless it’s urgent (as in I’m out and need it now), I’ll wait until there’s a sale. If I want to review a new formula that’s permanent (so not new) and has a fair number of shades, I’ll try to wait for a sale as well (e.g. if a high-end brand has 20 shades that cost $32 each).
Absolutely. If it’s an essential I need now, I won’t wait. But I might stock up during a sale. And for just fun items, I tend to wait for a sale or at least some kind of coupon. If I need something to go with an outfit (like a lipstick for a party), I might consider splurging, but I will only purchase that particular item.
Definitely for core products and skincare. There are certain products where I actually have panic thinking of them no longer being offered and so I tend to swoop in for those with a sale.
I probably should, but I also stand by the “if I wouldn’t buy it full-price, I shouldn’t get it” unless it’s a staple product that I’ve finished before and know I like.
Otherwise, I do not wait for sales because I inevitably add “that one thing I want to try randomly/impulsively”
Yes if at all possible.
Every brand (except for one) will go on sale at some point.
So I fond it’s best to wait.
Has anyone ever found Chanel on sale anywhere?
Saks used to have an occasional online 20% off on all beauty; including Chanel. Just lately, though, Chanel has been excluded so I’m not sure whether or not it will join the list of eligible products again.
Macy’s frequently has 15% off of Chanel in store and online. Last month I got the autumn collection. Ask you Macy’s Chanel manager to put you on the notification list. I always get a text when they’re going to offer a discount.
Rakuten often has Neiman’s And Macy’s at 12% cash back which amounts to getting a discount.
Thank you Eileen!
I will check Macy’s more often.
Yes! Whenever possible.
I try to! Especially if it’s a big ticket item… if the item will be available for a while, why not wait for a sale and save some money?
My answer is as well `If I can, yes.`
I have a smaller collection, I track when I open items, when they expire, I know how long it takes me to finish (approximately), so for me is very easy to plan purchases and to match them with sale periods.
But if something needs urgent replacement, it needs urgent replacement. 😀 The only bad thing with only using one type of product at a time is that… well.. if it breaks or finishes unexpectedly… well… if I don’t have a back-up I need one fast. 😆
Add-on mention is that I don’t buy on sales things that I would purchase full price (aka. I don’t purchase items just because they are on sale). For me sales are an opportunity to save money on items I need, not to waste money on purchasing items I won’t use just because of the discount.
Yes!! I mean almost everything goes on sale. I’ve finally figured out that certain brands have sales at same time every year , so I stock up on products then . If it’s a limited edition ( like urban decay’s game of thrones) then I definitely don’t wait, it still boggles my mind how fast they sell out.
When it comes to skin care items, which tend to be very expensive, I definitely plan my restocking needs to correspond with sales. Since I use products generously, saving 20-25% is well worth a bit of planning on my part. As for color cosmetics, I only delay a purchase if there is a sale eminent, otherwise I just go ahead and buy the product at the time I want or need it.
I sure try! Especially for a special big ticket item (for example; perfume, Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona or Viseart palette’s, a Tom Ford lipstick) or skincare/haircare essentials. I will also try for BOGO 50% for Maybelline Full & Soft waterproof mascara or Fit Me concealer, too.
Yes, I try to as much as possible. I hate paying full price.
Yes, I try to do this for all of my higher end makeup purchases. And I try to avoid obsessing over anything that is limited edition for this reason. Sometimes I’ll wait a long time for a product I want, such as with UD Born to Run, which I finally bought at half price. Other time, I lose interest while waiting, such as with ABH Sultry, which I decided not to buy when it finally went on sale. This is probably why I buy so much Colourpop…I don’t feel guilty about paying full price for it!
I definitely plan my skin care purchases around the Sephora sale but for most everything else, I usually just pick it up whenever. Other than skin care, I rarely finish anything up and since only skin care is a “must have” for me, I don’t really follow the sales. I don’t think I am organized enough in my personal life to be able to remember what I want and look for it on sale somewhere. It is funny because I am a little OCD about organization in my daily life but when it comes to purchases for makeup and my art, I purchase on a whim and pretty willy-nilly. I really need to start working on that!
I buy most things during a sale unless it’s skincare/body care that I have run out of or a product that is LE and I know I will use and love it. A sale does sometimes draw me in to look at product I was some what interested in before, but didn’t really take the time to look into or to justify the purchase of it at full price. I recently purchased Wayne Goss’s Anniversary Set II, when it went on sale during a random Beautylish sale since I wanted it for a while, but talked myself out of it due to the cost. I already own and love a bunch of his eye brushes so I decided it was now or never. If I am not interested in an item at all then I won’t pick it up even if it is on sale.
Only my staples which are in the permanent line. If it’s LE, I buy it as soon as available.
Yes, definitely. I don’t consider anything makeup-related to warrant an urgent purchase, so pretty much everything can wait for a sale.
Yes I do! Especially for skincare products, basic staples and that extra lipstick/eyeshadow palette that I have been eyeing off.
However I only purchase products I will definitely use or have used before so that I am not wasting my money.
Yes. Unless I’ve completely run out of a staple and didn’t properly purchase it during a sale. It’s really rare, though.
