I’ll be very interested in the value vs the cost per ounce or gram of their regular products. As I’ve commented before, the primary reason I stopped buying Hourglass (a company whose products I have purchased heavily in past) was their outright price gouging on their special holiday releases. At a time when every other company with a holiday collection is offering a bit (or sometimes a LOT) of extra value, Hourglass has consistently done the opposite, offering $75 of product by weight for $95, for example. That made me angry enough to swear off the line entirely. And had it not been for your informative reviews, Christine, I’d have been ignorant of this fact but I am so grateful for the information!

Exactly my first thought. Though most don’t suit me, therefore I have not indulged. The first three, only one is ok, in summer only. I do like Mood, but that’s the extent of what works for me. But their holiday pricing irks the wazoo out of me.

These cheek products are gorgeous! I have last year’s Ambient Lighting Edit. Vol. 4 and also the Diffused Light in both mini and standard size + the Iridescent Strobe Light (mini), therefore I will pass on the face palette.
I might purchase though the Blush Quad if it’s still available in November, during the upcoming Sephora sale. The shades are so beautiful and I like the Hourglass formula on my dry skin (not powdery, just melts into the skin).

I just purchased the quad. I wasn’t sure if it was exclusive to their website or if it would be available at Sephora but no matter, Hourglass blushes are my HG and it’s been ages since new blushes were released in a palette like this. The sleek packaging is also gorgeous and it looks very travel friendly. ?

I’m still kicking myself for not buying the palette everyone wanted last holiday immediately instead of stupidly waiting for the Sephora sale. I think I’m just going to go for the blush quad on the Hourglass website even though I’d like the bronzer too. I’m much more likely to use the 4 blush shades than the finishing powder and highlighter. I’ve got the Ambient Lighting trio and I literally never use it. Radiant finishing powders just make me look old.

In past, these have always been really small. I remember Christine commenting one year that it was nearly impossible to get a blush brush into them and that they seemed sized more to accommodate eyeshadow brushes.

^^^^^ This is exactly my complaint! Other companies do it at this time of year. Heck, I’d even be happy with the items being on par, price wise, with their regular/full sized formats ($40 worth of product for $40 would work for me, rather than $40 worth of product for $75!)

Kim Avatar

I’m waiting to see what the size of the blushes are but after some research on the scattered light collection this seems like a mediocre deal but at least this is cheaper than the usual outrageous holiday markup Hourglass is known for..
Full size = $29 for 3.5 gm so $8.28 per gm
This set = $46 for 3 i.e. $15.33 each (2g each) so this set $7.66 per gm

The palette is so pretty, but I’ve still got plenty of life left in last year’s V4 that I have. I love the blush quad, but the two blushes in my palette from last year still look practically brand new despite fairly consistent use. At this rate I’ll be on track to get a new Hourglass holiday palette in approximately 2030! Ha.

Every year I have picked up the Holiday Edit for my daughter for Christmas. I have never purchased one for myself as I was pretty sure at least one or two shades in each release were going to be way too dark for me to use. This one is really calling my name because they are all shades that I could wear and I love Dim light so I don’t mind having a back up of that. I love the quad also. I will be getting one and possibly both, depending on the remainder of the holiday releases from other brands.
While I would love for the price to be cheaper, I haven’t minded paying for the edit each year. Having all the shades in a great formula, in one place and in beautiful packaging, makes it worth while to me. I do understand that doesn’t work for everyone so I can’t fault anyone for wishing it was a better value for money. Hourglass does beautiful powders and I am willing to pay the price.

Hi everyone…I’m fairly new to this brand. I recently discovered them and fell in love! I have the 3-shade ambient light palette and I love it so much! I want to get these new holiday palettes before it’s gone and need some advice on choosing which one. Definitely can’t afford both. I’m getting the blush quad and would like to get one of these. I can’t decide. What’s the biggest difference? Is it just the shades? I’m leaning towards the regular Ghost palette because there are 3 exclusive shades in it. Is there anything special with the Ghost Unlocked palette that I’m missing? Thanks in advance for your responses!
