If you could only use fragrance for an entire year, what would it be?

Either Chanel 19 (the perfume form) or Sisley Eau du Soir.
Okay, thinking about this, I think those of us who live in climates with distinct hot (it’s going up to over 30C here today) and cold (-20 plus wind-chill isn’t all that unusual in winter) should get 2 choices – one for all weather or hot seasons and one for all weather or cool to frigid temps! I think that’s only fair (I have some scents I’d never consider wearing in the steamy heat of summer)
I thought that was part of the challenge- to choose something that would work in all weather. I like wearing Pacifica’s Breathtaking, which is clove and vanilla, in the dead of summer because the heat brings out some really interesting qualities to the scent.
Someone below mentioned using the scented body cream/lotion/milk/oil etc in the same fragrance as the EDT or EDP they picked, and that might be a good idea for hot/humid weather since the fragrance interacts differently with the body in different formulations.
I’ve heard with some fragrances like Chanel No. 5 that some people cannot wear a spray, but that they live by the body cream instead.
chanel chance eau tendre
Guerlain L’Heure Bleue! This is my signature scent, so of course, I already wear this all the time! Lol!
Aw, I love L’Heure Bleue! I remember that being the first scent that really amazed me, in the sense that it didn’t smell like anything else and I couldn’t tell what it was made of.
I wish I could wear L’heure bleue but all Guerlain fragrances just don’t work with my body chemistry (though I do have 2 bottles of Shalimar, one quite a vintage one) but I do own the now-discontinued lipstick in L’heure bleue – that’s the closest I can get!
Chanel Chance!
Viva La Juicy. I could bathe in the stuff and never grow tired
That or Atelier Vanille Insensee
Easy question for me…Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic. I’m already into my second bottle of it, which is a big thing because I usually get bored of a scent halfway through the first bottle. Although I’ll usually wear something different when we go out at night, GAAMB is the my everyday fragrance. So if I could keep only one of my perfumes, I’d rather have a great everyday fragrance than one that might be too much to wear to work.
(Christine, I think you forgot to put the word “one” in front of fragrance in your question. I noticed it after posting my comment, but I originally read it as if it did say one fragrance. Weird how the mind works that way!)
Easy! Ralph Lauren Romance!
I’m torn here, because although I don’t actually wear it, L’eau D’Issey Pour Homme smells EXACTLY like the foreign students’ dorm at East China Normal University and for that reason I keep it with me always and I inhale from the cap when I want to be uplifted and transported to wonderful memories of my years living in Shanghai. I don’t know if the janitor wore it, or maybe lemon bleach + instant ramen + London Plane Tree + Chinese tobacco = L’eau D’Issey.
So I wouldn’t wear anything, and keep a lifetime supply of that with me. <3
Years ago I bought L’eau D’Issey Pour Homme for my husband, and he never wore it, so now I sometimes wear it myself. I love the women’s version too, and it really takes me back to my early days of loving makeup and perfume.
The new Mugler Angel EDT, my new favorite / obsession!
I really enjoyed that when I smelled it- do you get the woody drydown right in the beginning? I felt like it was this patchouli-and-wood scent that has different decorations over time, like first you put apples on the plank of wood, and then you take the apples away and put some gianduja truffles down instead.
Maison Margiela – By the Fireplace
Cameron, I absolutely adore this fragrance but, as its name suggest, it’s pretty much a cooler weather scent for me. But so delicious and smokey.
Unfortunately it’s always hot here!
Guerlain Jardins de Bagatelle! Lots of Guerlain fans today.
Pure Vanilla – Lavanila hands down. I love the “true vanilla” scent and it smells so natural. Honestly since wearing it I have a problem adjusting to other fragrances, they all seem to have this sharp chemical/alcohol smell in comparison.
TF Lost Cherry. Everyone seemingly loves it on me and says it smells different of me than themselves.
Estee Lauder Cinnabar. If it’s a hot day, I would wear the body lotion instead of the perfume.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle (EDP) is still my signature, my go-to scent. Very close comes Hermès Un Jardin sur le Nil.
When it’s hot and humid, I go with Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue.
As an evening fragrance, Dior Midnight Poison (discontinued unfortunately), is irreplaceable for me. I still have a mini bottle that I only use on special occasions.
I’m going to be boring and go with YSL Black Opium (the classic original perfume version, I don’t like the other variations).
I second this! It’s my all time favorite too!
OUCH! That bandaid ripped off painfully!
Either YSL Black Opium Nuit something (?) because it’s warm and a little bit sexy, but not OTT or Tom Ford Eau de Soleil Blanc, because smelling beachy all year long wouldn’t be *so* bad, I suppose. ?
Maison Margiela – Soul of the Forest!!!
Not well educated on fragrance at all, but I definitely have, like… specific tastes? Anyway, this is my all time FAVORITE scent. Sap and juniper and fir, pow pow pow.
My signature scent is Mugler Alien, so I feel like I have to say that, but it can be a monster. I would probably pick something in the more safe-yet-still-interesting category that can be easily worn on BART or at work or in class like Nest Black Tulip or Indigo or JHAG Not a Perfume.
So… Nest Black Tulip? Yeah. That one.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
I was going to say Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black, but I’ve been hearing rumors the whole Nirvana line has been discontinued, and it’s not being sold at Sephora and some other stores that previously carried it. I do have a backup or two, so I guess I could still say this, but I’d hate to use up a big chunk of my supply if it’s true.
If Nirvana Black is DC, then eithe Tom Ford Black Orchid or YSL Black Opium. I’d be good with either.
L’Eau d’Issey
These questions are so stressing me out!! One perfume? Okay, if I am absolutely pressed I would go with Joy by Jean Patou. At one time it was the most expensive perfume in the world but not any longer. It is still in the top 10, I believe. It is all about the roses!
DKNY Be Delicious, easy choice!
Yves Chantre Gingembre, which I discovered on a weekend trip to Las Vegas with my husband shortly after we were married.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanilla or Vanille Fatale, beautiful fragrances and lasts forever!
DG Light Blue
In theory it would be Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab’s Western Bonneted Bat. But because seasons (it’s a little much in hot weather) and that particular oil was a limited edition, It would be Alice (also from BPAL). I would bathe in that fragrance if I could.
