What are your favorite fragrances for summer?
I try to wear more of Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino (and its sisters), since it definitely gives me summer vibes!

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic is my favorite for summer, and also one of my most-used fragrances year-round. Two other summery scents that I wear are Origins Ginger Essence and (less often) Berdoues Assam of India.
I’ve also having a moment with Chanel Mademoiselle, which I used to love when it first came out, but stopped using many years ago. A relative recently gave me the travel spray (a gorgeous white twist up bottle) and I’ve been enjoying it again.
Correction: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
I’m in love with Sole di Positano, it’s probably in my top 5 of all time. However, I have recently been wearing Jo Malone Basil & Neroli mixed with Jo Malone Star Magnolia. The two together knock my socks off and I could just take deep breaths all day lol! I’m also beginning to love Maison Margiella Under the Lemon Trees. The initial 10 seconds smell like Lemon Pledge but after that 10 seconds it opens up into one of the freshest fragrances ever!
I love Sole di Positano and sometimes layer it with Soleil Blanc. An unlikely couple, but I enjoy them together.
I might have to try that!
How do Jo Malone fragrances last on you? There are several that I like, but they fade ridiculously fast on me.
I would love to know, also!
They don’t last very long on the skin but if I spray them on my clothing and hair they last all day.
Ahh, Basil & Neroli. One of my summertime loves…
I can’t wait to try it with Star Magnolia!
Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (EDT) – its lasting power is not impressive on me but the scent is perfect for summer. Also, Hermès – Un Jardin sur le Nil (EDT) and Miu Miu – L’Eau Bleue (EDP).
I have had Un Jardin sur le Nil in my Nordstrom cart for about 9 months. I am going to wear it one more time next weekend when I go to Chicago to make sure I still love it as much as I did the first time I tried it.
I tend to wear scented lotions instead of perfume in summer. I love Vineyard Peach from the Body Shop. If I wear perfume, I like Lancôme La Nuit Tresor or Maison Margiela Under the Lemon Trees. I love fruit scents in summer.
I actually just recently got into fragrances and I owe it all to Tom Ford Neroli Portofino! In December I ordered a MAC Fix + mini set that was on clearance and it came with a free sample of NP. I instantly fell in love and had no idea that fragrance could smell so good! That sound so ignorant, but it’s true! Currently, I have over 100 samples of various designer fragrances that I’ve purchased off of r/makeupexchange. It’s a problem, I know.
These are the ones I fell in love with for summer: Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt, Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede, Gucci Bamboo EDP, Atelier Pacific Lime, Marc Jacobs Daisy Love, Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande, Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Giorgio Armani Si.
I agree with most of your list! Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt is my all time #1 favorite
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre (they recently came out with it in perfume and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!!!), Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche, and Tom Ford Soleil Blanc.
Creed Erolfa, Comptoir Sud Aqua Motu, And Phlur Olmsted and Vaux. A couple of oceans and a citrus.
Izzy by Izzy Miyake. I am pretty much a floral girl and love anything with a floral base. This has long been my favorite for spring and summer. My daughter got me a bottle last Christmas and I wore it all spring/summer last year. I am scraping the bottom of the jar right now. I also like a scent called Waterlillies. I cannot for the life of me remember who made it and the bottom of the bottle is blank. I know there use to be a tag there but it has gone missing. The bottle is frosted and the only thing written on it is the name. It is a very light scent also.
I’m on Summer #5 using Fresh Life. Loved it until just very recently? Not that I hate it or anything, but I’ve grown a little bit bored with it, I suppose. Now, I’m craving something very oceaney, beachy, aquatic instead of so citrusy!
you should try maison margiella’s “sailing day”. that’s my summer go-to (because “by the fireplace” doesn’t go well with summer, even though i’m good with the darker smoky stuff all year round). partly because even the name is about as beachy and aquatic as you can get!
I sprayed myself with Neroli Portofino the other day at Sephora and was disappointed to see that the scent didn’t last on me all that long. At that price, I want something that’ll last through the day. My summer faves are Daisy Eau So Fresh (my lovely dog’s name was Daisy and this is the only “Daisy” formulation I can wear and I was so glad to find it to wear in memory of her); See by Chloe Eau Fraiche, Elizabeth Arden White Tea and a long-time favourite for zing and really livening up when the dog days in a hot classroom flatten and melt me – Clarins Eau Dynamisante! I have the body wash as well and often, I’ll almost crawl home, crawl into the shower and that stuff just revives me!
Neroli, as a note, tends to be shorter-wearing, unfortunately! 🙁
Gucci Bamboo
I like Lancôme O D’ Azur & Escada fragrances.
I still love Fidji by Guy La Roche and Clinique’s Aromatics.
Light, fresh, fruity scents. I tend to use my body sprays instead of perfume in the summer since I don’t want anything too strong for the hot summer days.
White linen by ester lauder
Nothing exotic or pricey – I’ve been using Bath and Body Works’ “Under Water Oasis” shea butter cream. I love the fragrance and the cream seems to hold the fragrance longer than their sprays do.
In the summertime I break out the tropicals-
Montale’s Tiare Intense- Bold white floral based on the native gardenia of Tahiti
Body Shop Kahaia- Beautiful and natural white floral based on a flower from Bora Bora
Guerlain Terracotta- Coconut and tiare, like the most wonderful tropical vacation
Houbigant Orangers en Fleur- An orange tree in full bloom, a nod to my native California!
Annick Goutal Songes- A very French tropical paradise in a bottle.
Margiela Beach Walk (divine!), Dolce Light Blue, Tom Ford Oud Minerale and TF Soleil Blanc, Estee Hibiscus Palm, Jo Malone Basil & Neroli.
I love Diptyque Philosykos in summer, it doesn’t last, but it’s great while it lasts! Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune is my other favorite summer fragrance.
Now that I own Thierry Mugler Alien, I’ll probably continue to wear it a lot. In summer, I also tend to use more of Elizabeth & James Nirvana French Grey and Nirvana White, Katy Perry Killer Queen, Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange, Aquolina Pink Sugar, and Juicy Couture Couture La La.
However, I wear whatever I want year round, so Tom Ford Black Orchid, Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black and Nirvana Bourbon, and Lady Gaga Fame Black Fluid are still very much in rotation.
Rachel, I had no idea we have similar fragrance tastes! I love Mugler Alien, KP Killer Queen, and Gaga Fame Black Fluid!
I’ll have to pay more attention to your fragrance choices! Maybe I should check out the JLo fragrance you mentioned.
None. I don’t really designate any makeup or fragrances as being for certain seasons-I just wear whatever I want in whichever season I want to. Jennifer Lopez JLove (which I have) would probably be a good summer choice for those who do this, though.
I like Acqua di Gio Air for summer, Chanel Mademoiselle (the green one), & Philosophy’s Summer frangranges are very nice as well.
Re Jo Malone- any of her fragrances last 2 hours maximum on me. I will never purchase any of her fragrances again. I bought her “Frangipani” Summer 2019 LE and returned it as it did not last at all. What a shame, as she is too pricey.
I plan to purchase Chloé Nomade too.
Bergamote 22 Le Labo, Bergamote Soleil Atelier Cologne, Costarela Carner Barcelona
I love Maison Margiela’s Replica fragrances in Music Festival and Sailing Day! I would never wear Music Festival in intense heat because the patchouli scent is very heavy, but it stays pretty cool in San Francisco so it’s a nice outdoorsy smell. Sailing Day is much lighter and more refreshing, love that one on a tropical vacation or anytime I’m missing that sea salt smell.
Quelques Fleurs L’Original is my all time favorite and the one I always return to, I’ve been wearing it since I was 18 (I’m now 42). I also enjoy wearing Egyptian musk oil. I have a tendency to stick with the same when it comes to fragrances. I have an Aunt that always told me pick a signature scent and stick with it, I guess that must have stuck.
