ColourPop Birthday Treat Super Shock Pressed Pigment Review & Swatches
Birthday Treat
ColourPop Birthday Treat Super Shock Pressed Pigment ( for oz.) is a brighter, light-medium orange with warm red undertones and flecks of pink and gold glitter. It had good color coverage that was buildable to full opacity with two layers. The texture was smooth, creamy with moderate slip, and sponge-like (as the formula typically is!) and felt more powder-like as soon as it came into contact with my skin. It wore well for 10 hours without creasing or fading but had slight fallout over time.
Note, this particular shade is “not for eye area,” and it is/was included a gift with purchase on ColourPop orders to celebrate their 5th birthday, which seems to have run through supplies.

“Not for eye area”….hmmm.
Well, that is weird of them, since every year they give us a “birthday” SSS eyeshadow!
Now to figure out whether it’s the type of pigment used (not an issue for me, personally) or if the microglitter isn’t eye safe (a big eN-Oh for me!).
I couldn’t find an ingredients list when I checked since it doesn’t exist as a product listing (that I could find), but it might be both!
Interesting…and worrisome for those who received it. Since CP always re-releases these BD SSS’s again, I’ll be quite curious to see what the problem is in their ingredient list! That said, I agree with all the other readers who have likewise spoken up about this issue.
Okay! so I was able to get the ingredients for Birthday Treat using a cached version of the web page. But I don’t think I know enough about cosmetic ingredients to answer Nancy’s question. : /
INGREDIENTS
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Aluminum Calcium Sodium Silicate, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Boron Nitride, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Isododecane, C30-45 Alkyl Cetearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cyclohexasiloxane, Silica, Tin Oxide, Dimethicone/Vinyltrimethylsiloxysilicate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Ethylhexylglycerin, Propylene Carbonate, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).
If it’s sparkly/glittery, you’re usually looking for PET glitter, and if it is a pigment issue, then you’d be looking for an additive that isn’t for eyes. From this list, nothing is sticking out, though.
Here’s FDA’s list of what’s okay to use and where: https://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/cosmetic-ingredient-names/color-additives-permitted-use-cosmetics
I really dislike it when brands produce an eyeshadow ‘not eye safe’ – where else are you going to put an eyeshadow?
Agreed. Bizarre and ridiculous to label it as “super shock shadow” and then tell us not to put it on the eyes. Reads as a legal CYA.
Just as a FYI, it is labeled as “Super Shock Pressed Pigment.”
The outside box says shadow and the inside box says pressed pigment! Confusing!
Ooh, I didn’t notice that! That is strange!
I got this yesterday with my ColorPop order. It’s really pretty and I’m pissed that it’s not eye safe!
This ‘not for immediate eye area’ is a puzzlement. I’d like to know what the
?FDA criteria are, and why ingredients that are ok in the EU aren’t, in the US. That aside, it looks like a possibly nice blush for lighter tones. Has anyone used this formula that way? Does it work?
I wanted to try the liquid lipsticks from colourpop. I also got the sss free with my order. I can’t say I have had issues with not eyesafe stuff…Have to see what happens.
