Will you be changing your beauty routine for summer this year?
Mine will change based more on what brands feel the need to release the most of during the next couple of months, but it’s dry here all year round… and frankly, by June, going outside will be limited to only when necessary to avoid the oven-like temperatures on the way!
Sure. Lighter foundation. Brighter colors over all. I mean I am wearing much of the same makeup I have been wearing all year long but I maybe will put on hold the darker, grungier makeup in favor of sunnier, punchier colors
The only thing that will change for me is occasionally wearing lipstick shades that lean toward peach and orange, such as MAC See Sheer, Crosswires, and Lady Danger, which are colors I tend to avoid during cooler months.
I change mine in the spring, as soon as it starts getting warmer. Two things: I switch to a lighter moisturizer, and I set my foundation with a powder more consistently. I don’t always use powder in the cold months because my skin gets very dry, but as soon as spring and summer come it get very shiny very quickly. As far as makeup, I wear whatever I want year-round – I don’t follow the “winter” or “summer” shade thing.
It is summer all year long down here! When living in NY, I would change my makeup in the summer months. But, not now. It challenging here to go outside from now, until November, unless you are in the ocean or pool!
My skin is oily but dehydrated, so I’m going to add a hydrating toner to see if that helps. It’s humid outside but not indoors, and I think the disparity between the two is affecting my skin negatively.
I’m in SoCal, and we don’t really have “seasons”, so it all comes down to what activities I have planned, and/or temperatures. That said, since it’ll be warmer outside, I will likely switch to powder foundation, especially since I have a few I just want to finish up, and I’ve found they work better with my current moisturizer. If we get the humidity I’m expecting, I’ll also switch to a waterproof mascara. As far as actual colors, I’ve never been one to follow seasonal guidelines, although once I get around to finally cutting my hair, I’ll probably switch to simpler eye looks & bolder lips.
I rarely change my make-up routine with seasons. If something changes in summer is switching from SPF 30 to SPF 50, and incorporating a re-touch powder with SPF and a primer with SPF. I always layer my SPFs, but summer is when I get my game even stronger!
For sure. I live in Canada (Montreal area), and we have harsh winters and very hot and humid summers, especially in the past few years. Last year, with the exception of a few days in June, it was almost unbearable to go outside for the entire summer. For almost two weeks, the temperatures remained around 45-47C, “cooling down” to 38C during the night. Then, we had around 38C for the remaining of the summer, with constant high humidity. The high humidity makes me very uncomfortable when outside, as I feel like I need to gasp for air. We stay indoors so much during the winter, and not being able to go outdoors during the few summer months to enjoy the nature, is like living the life in a fish bowl, at least for me. Sorry for the rant, let’s revert to the beauty routine changes.
Foundation – I switch to either Bare Minerals Mineral Powder Foundation or to a combination of either Suntegrity 5-in-1 tinted moisturizer & sunscreen or to a regular face sunscreen, to which I add a drop or two of the CoverFx Custom Cover Drops (I’m in P20).
Eyeliners – I put aside those from MJ, UD or Sephora in favor of either the Dior Diorshow On Stage Waterproof Liners (in Matte Brown and Pearly Bronze), or the Givenchy Waterproof ones (Chestnut and African Bronze).
Lips – I use mostly lip stains in summer and as you, my favorites are by far the Dior Lip Tattoos ones, followed by the Lancôme Matte Shakers. They do not melt on my lips or in the purse, they stay put for most of the day and have minimal transfer.
Yes, Christine, Summer is coming. ♨️
And as it arrives, the one thing that changes for me is that I now religiously must use my UD All Nighter Setting Spray every time I need to be out and about running errands, as most of that is accomplished via public transit. And, and Tara says: “Don’t forgot to wear sunscreen!”. Even though I’m solidly “medium” to “medium-tan” and olive undertoned, I do wear it year round on my face and neck, but from May through October, it’s worn wherever my skin is exposed. This AZ desert sun is VISCOUSLY aging towards skin if one doesn’t take precautions!
For me it is more about changing my skin care in the summer months. Here in Montana our winter’s are quite harsh and I need extra emollient products but in the summer I can pare down to a light moisturizer and a lighter feeling foundation. I still need good coverage though so it is more about just feeling like I am wearing less heavy makeup. I do wear brighter lips but in all honesty, I will wear brighter shades in winter and deeper shades in summer. I just do what I want, basically.
Summer makeup to me means dewy skin, more nude lips, playful brights on the eyes and sparkles everywhere. I just celebrated the shift to summer weather by adding Tarte Radiance Drops to my setting spray for when I’m feeling that extra glow. As my skin gets tanned I enjoy a more nude version of my go to nude-y pink lip (think Urban Decay Liar) and can play around with warmer and brighter blushes.
I just generally use less makeup in the summer. Lighter moisturizer etc. Last year we had a very hot summer in Alberta and the smoke from the fires in British Columbia blew directly here all summer. I hope that doesn’t happen this year.
I usually do in when the temperatures start getting 85 degrees F and hotter, as I’ve always had ridiculously oily skin. In past summers, I’ve switched to powder foundation over face sunscreen (instead of primer and liquid or cream foundation), gone with one- or two-color (usually light neutrals) shadow eye looks, skipped eyeliner, and worn tinted lip balms, lipglosses and liquid lipsticks in shimmery, duochrome, bright, or funky colors. No cream products on the face.
However, over the last few months I’ve gone full menopausal, and I’m having dry-but-oily cheeks, and oily on the rest of the face. If this skin situation lasts through summer, I’ll probably stick with a more hydrating face primer and bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, with setting powder on my T-zone. That combination has worked really well for the warmest spring days so far. Or maybe I’ll have to go with that combo on the cheeks, and powder foundation on the more oily areas. I may also end up using cream/liquid blushes and highlighters more. I guess I’ll be experimenting!
Eyes and lips will likely remain the same as in past summers, though. My lids are still crazy oily.
I do change my beauty routine for summer in that I add lots of sunscreen, which is a necessity here in Aus. I use the La Roche Posay’s Ultra light 50+, after moisturiser and before foundation. Before I get dressed I slather on sunscreen on my arms and chest/neck area too.
I tend to use more gel hydrating moisturisers as well (the Neutregena one).
My summer clothes are much brighter and I tend to favour brighter, bolder eyeshadows as well. Lipstick shades change too, with a greater preference towards peach/ginger and splashes of red.
Yes, in the late Spring and Summer as the light seems to warm up .
, I lighten and brighten up.
My foundation is a little more sheer and and little bronzier and my lip color is
Brighter, especially corals and fushia my eyeshadows are a little more gilded , rose golds , white golds and coppers.
As opposed to my creamy , hydrating full coverage foundations , Smokey eyes and deeper lips in the Fall/Winter.
Yes, my makeup routine definitely changes when summer comes. Summers are pretty short here but also pretty hot! I rarely wear foundation in the summertime, opting for tinted moisturizer or CC cream instead. I’ll use powder bronzer and often skip blush altogether, as I do get tan in the summer ( I don’t sunbathe and always use sunscreen, but I still get a tan somehow!). I’ll wear less eyeshadow, doing just a neutral wash with coloured liner (turquoise!) instead. I also get my lashes tinted so I can skip mascara, and on my lips I almost always wear a peach or coral gloss or lipstick 🙂
No-I never change my makeup according to the seasons, just according to my mood or, very occasionally, my activities.
Sure. I usually change my cleanser to something a bit more heavy duty as it’s hot and humid here in summer. I also add toner to my routine more regularly (I usually skip it entirely in cold weather). Lighter/less foundation (or none at all), more sunscreen and generally lighter makeup – lighter and simpler eye makeup, etc.
I use a lighter coverage foundation, make sure to set my makeup consistently, and wear a higher SPF. Style-wise nothing really changes though.
I actually think I might; I intend to go lighter and more natural. I had decent success with my IPL treatments and I’m comfortable with less skin coverage. I’m going to play with a very natural overall look and increased use of highlighter, both on face and body — it’ll be fun!
Bought two Fenty Poutsicle Lipsticks and plan to wear them out. I want some lip drama for the summer. I may even forgo my namesake dramatic eye looks and remain simple and pale eye wise just to play up my lips. Can’t do her neon eye drama though, not unless I’m invited to some crazy summer party! LOL!
