Coloured Raine Eyeshadows ($6.99 for 0.06 oz.) are sold primarily as singles across both mattes and shimmers, though most of the shimmers are fairly metallic. I’d love to see the single range expanded, as I found myself wanting more to choose from to put together a better array of “quads” of colors. You can find swatches of all the singles that are sold individually (presently) here.

Editor’s Note:  This post was originally published in January 2019, but I had a few readers recently ask me for ideas on what Coloured Raine Eyeshadows to pick up. I’ve also reviewed the full range of singles, and you can lookup reviews and see which shades performed the best here.

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

These are lovely. Sigh. I wish that Coloured Raine would have answered my emails asking for details about a “+-” ingredient so I could have bought individual shades. But they refused to answer despite being notified three times, so I’ve dropped them from further consideration. (I apologize in advance for repeating what I’ve written elsewhere about them but I keep hoping that maybe they’ll see what I’ve written here and follow up. No such luck so far.)

This irks me, too. Every brand should be transparent about ingredients on every shade. Anyone with any issues should write that brand off, as there are so many good alternatives. We can find the alternatives right here.

kjh, I’ve definitely moved on from Coloured Raine brand. Their nondisclosure of ingredients has given me no choice. The one palette I had of theirs, that didn’t have the questionable ingredient as even a “+-” ingredient, I’ve given away to someone else because I found it to be less than flattering.

I haven’t even read the article yet, but know it’s going to help me lots, so I thank you in advance!!!! I really enjoy when you share combination of looks and the palette creation ones. Inspiration is what’s lacking in this beauty blog, vlog culture, so I appreciate you mix of reviews PLUS inspiration.

Lots and lots of inspiration out there, IMO! If you aren’t finding it in what’s on your radar, you just have to look for it – tons and tons of accounts dedicated to creativity 🙂 I’m barely creative – it’s a stretch to say as much, LOL!

Well, I guess I’m not looking hard enough. I know there are MANY people making looks, but few do it as simply as you do here with just showing a few colors and listing what brand and color they are, plus providing a place to see if I have a dupe. See you’re a one-stop shop inspiration site. 😉 That’s the difference! For those of us that just don’t have time hunting the entire look down, ya know! 😉

Try Instagram 🙂 So many artists on there and often that’s their only platform, so they include the info right in the post! Rebecca Shores MUA, Linda Hallberg, and Karima McKimmie are some of my favorites. https://www.instagram.com/rebeccashoresmua/ and https://www.instagram.com/lindahallberg/ and https://www.instagram.com/karimamckimmie/

Here are some good hashtags to explore and find people who share your style!

Milk1422 is also a good place for inspo, as they do incredible face charts but also repost those who have recreated them (so it is a nice way to find people to follow) – https://www.instagram.com/milk1422/

Thanks soooo very much Christine! I’m an old Instagram account holder, but a relatively new user. I’ve only been on for the past few months, so this is very helpful. So far, I’d only been following brands, so this is more to what I’d enjoy learning. Again ,thanks!

Thank you for this post. I have their Cheers to the Beauty palette (it is fantastic!), as well as their Neo Blue shadow (bold bold bold).
