Nothing comes to mind, partially because I so rarely return to products in general that the answer is almost “all of them.” I feel like with so many releases, older limited edition releases just fade from memory so quickly unless they were truly stellar, and all of those, I have still reached for as often as is feasible (given what I do for a day job!).

Subculture! I am not very skilled with eye looks and I’m not sure what to do with it most of the time.
So many, but Coloured Raine Cheers to the Beauty comes to mind. Also Juvia’s Place Nubian II, Pat McGrath Subliminal Dark Star, and Viseart Bijoux Royale. All so gorgeous, but all require more time and attention than I have on most days, plus the looks attract more attention than I want on most days. So I tend to pull them out only on special occasions, and I rarely have special occasions!
I adore Viseart Bijou Royale. My trick is just to use a touch of a jewel tone for a pop of color at the outer edge or as a liner.
There are so many palettes in my collection that I want to use, but never get to them. I have about 25, but I only use three or four of them on a regular basis.
I would have to put my Colourpop palettes at the top of the want-to-but-rarely-do list. Although CP Fame is one of my most-used palettes, I rarely ever wear It’s A Princess Thing, Good Sport, Zodiac, or Double Entendre.
Usually any of my brights palettes: UD Electric, BH Cosmetics Festival, Suva Cupcakes and Monsters. And my UD Moondust palette. I have to be feeling extra sassy to want to put the time in to blending out those brights and dealing with glitter application.
I am curious Christine, what do you do with all your unused or rarely used makeup?

I would love to wear an all cool taupes palette. But, I look like poo these eye shadow shades! I’m fair with slight pink undertones, green eyes and dark hair. These colors are soooo dull and drab and boring on me — and that’s the best case scenario. Worst case? I look like I rubbed dirt on my eyes. I promise I’m not overstating a thing!!! (And you should see me in warmer brown shades. Hideous! Just hideous!)

Lise Watier – Aurora Palette (LE released in 2014). Aside from the fact that the packaging is gorgeous, the formula is amazing: so creamy and pigmented. The colours have dimension and shimmer without leaving behind that shimmery look, but a luminosity and depth. The formula and pigmentation does justice to the aurora borealis concept behind the 2014 collection. It’s made in Italy. I regret not getting a backup.

It is! I used it this morning (the pinky shade all over the lid and a bit in the crease + the purple one next to it in, the outer corner). I started by applying the pink one with a brush and I ended up using the finger. The shades in this palette – they just melt on the eye when applied, and in a good way.
The irony though: I received compliments from different people on my today’s effortless eye look that required a few minutes and almost no blending (I don’t count applying mascara and eyeliner as these are staples in my routine), whereas when I spend ten minutes alone on blending four shades, nobody is saying anything 🙂
NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette. It just doesn’t have any mid-tone shades, and Subra is straight-up brown oin me instead of plum. I really wish NARS had added a mid-tone shade instead of that big pan of black. So it’s disappointing in some ways, especially considering what it cost. It annoys me and then I don’t want to use it. I need to pull in some singles and devote a week to playing with it and creating some go-to looks. I’ve probably used it less than 10 times since it was released.
Same here! Subra looks straight black on me. I remember being heartbroken by this. Plus, this formula doesn’t play good with viseart mattes which is what I have the most…
That stinks that Subra turns black on you! It’s brown on me, but at least it’s still pretty, if dark. Thanks for the heads up that it doesn’t work with Viseart mattes. I hope you find something you have that will. I’ll try some different one and let you know.
I have that palette too and – don’t laugh – I don’t think I’ve ever tried wearing Subra except for “fun” at home. As impractical as a “stand alone” as it is, I still love it. The colour Ursa Major is so beautiful to me – I wish they’d released it as a single but they never did.
Subra was the shade I most looked forward to. Ursa Major is really pretty. Giove ended up being my favorite — as an eyeliner. It’s just $80 is pretty expensive for a cake of eyeliner. lol
I donated it to my niece who ended up giving it to my sister her mom. It was just underwhelming.
Most of the colors are gorgeous, but I just don’t know what to with the palette as a whole. I fell for the hype on that one. Yet I can’t bring myself to give it away or sell it.
Believe it or not, it’s the one Pat McGrath palette I have (I can never recall the name but it’s one of the smaller ones). I do love it but the biggest problem with it is that I have to reach for a highlight shade from somewhere else so I tend to pick up a palette that is more “complete” for my needs unless I’m not in a rush (which is rare).
Agree!! This is the one of the biggest reasons I don’t reach for certain palettes. Some palettes are missing a good transition or highlight shade, and I’m often too pressed for time (or just too lazy) to go elsewhere for one shade.
Violet Voss Flamingo and Viseart Ribbons.
Haven’t figured out the bright color thing where I feel it looks good and not too bright. I like for makeup to enhance and for someone to say you look pretty not your makeup looks pretty.
I did see someone use brown in the crease and a pop of color on the lid and I tried it and it looked good. I always try to match.. using navy or light grey in the crease and then it looks not good!
The struggle is real.
I’d definitely like to use the Urban Decay Moondust palette more often. Also my Pat McGrath Sublime palette. I need to go look up the information on how the different shadows are supposed to be used.
I rotate fairly good because I use 2-3 palettes very often when doing an eyelook. Maybe NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette or my viseart cool mattes and warm mattes (because I use my neutral matte daily and often just use whatever transition and liner shade I can get in it), or my singles in general?
Since a month and a half, I use a habit tracker to see which palettes I neglect and try to select in advance which palettes I will be using together or just plan a look around this palette that deserves more love!
Pretty much all of them, since I don’t do eyes with regularity. What comes to mind: kvd MetalMatte, and Visearts: they are so good that they deserve the effort, and the Lorac Sunset palettes. I confess to overacquisition, then neglect.
There are a few that immediately popped into my mind, sad to say. Worse? That I actually do still love them, and did use them to death upon first purchasing them!

Honestly I can’t think of one. I have so many palettes and I try to rotate through them all with mixed success. I have a few that I never use but not because I want to and just don’t but rather because the shades don’t work for me overall. I have been keeping these palettes for awhile now and just need to de-clutter them.
It’s an oldie but a goodie – Tarantino’s Pretty Emerald – you do need shades from other palettes to make this work.
The Pretty Rebel by CT is another one I rarely use because often I just want one green shade not all of the shades.
My problem is I have way too many eye shadow palettes to use up. But Urban Decay Naked Heat, Coloured Rain Queen of Hearts, All of the Juvia’s Place palettes, Viseart Bijoux Royal and Warm Mattes, just a few that I really like but rarely wear.
I would have to say Naked Heat is the one I love but rarely use too. I’m not sure why. I guess Pat McGrath has my attention lately since I got two of the smaller palettes on sale around Christmas. Maybe tomorrow I’ll haul out the Heat.
Huda Nude. Every eye look I do ends up looking pretty much the same, but I love the aesthetic of the palette. I gifted the UD Naked Cherry palette for the same reason.
UD Spectrum — unfortunately, I bought a number of singles and another palette that gave me a few different variations on rainbow, so I sort of lost track of Spectrum.
Naked 2. It was my first ever palette, and when it expired I repurchased it but I neeeeever use it.
