Beautylish Lucky Bags Launch 12/26

Beautylish Lucky Bags are coming! They’ll be available for everyone at 10AM PST today (12/26), and those who signed up for early access can shop here. Sold out.

Each year, Beautylish offers Lucky Bags, which is “inspired by the Japanese New Year tradition of fukubukuro, we’re offering mystery bags full of our favorite products.” They’ve posted a FAQ to answer questions about the event, and I’ve included some of the more pertinent Q&As below as well.  Beautylish will offer two sizes of Lucky Bags, and each will be filled with a random assortment of products from the brands and product lines that they carry.

  • WHEN:  December 26th, 2018
  • WHAT: Lucky Bags are priced at $75 ($150+ worth of product) and $150 ($350+ worth of products, U.S. only)
    • [Beautylish tries their] best to make sure that Fair-Medium Lucky Bags contain products that complement fair to medium skin. Dark-Deep Lucky Bags contain products that are better suited for deeper skin tones. [They] don’t include foundation or concealer in Lucky Bags.
  • LIMITS:  One Lucky Bag per order, customer, shipping address, and payment method.
  • BONUS:  This year, Beautylish has partnered with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. If you purchase an original Lucky Bag at $150, you’ll receive one original Lucky Bag ($150+ worth of product), one will be donated to the hospital. Beautylish will match your donation, so effectively two Lucky Bags will be donated.

Last year, I got two face primers. lol I don’t use primers so it was kinda disappointing, but the first year, I got a Viseart mini palette! It was an amazing box!

I got the smaller bag a few years ago and scored a Viseart Cashmere Theory palette and the Wayne Goss eyebrow brush set (I was initially let down on seeing the latter, but when I tried them – holy cow, it completely changed my brow game). It was worth it just for those items alone, as they are still staples in my collection and I would not have purchased them otherwise. Contemplating another bag this year just to see what else is out there.

I got those as well – Cashmere and eyebrow set! I still use them all the time! :o) I also got a Jouer lipstick, which I loved and Superhero mascara. My second box was disappointing. I got two face primers (the Ordinary silicone based and acne control one by Cover Fx) and Natasha Denona eyeshadows that muddied on the lid no matter what I did with them (a five pan #13 – colors I don’t wear). I’m thinking about giving it one more try but if I get another really awful bag, I’m not doing it again. It’s truly luck of the draw and a risk, I guess! :o)

Cute idea but assuming that I get the $75 bag, I think the chances are slim that I would love all or most of the products there. So I’d rather spend $75 or $100 on things I want than $75 and get maybe $75 worth or less of things that i want in this mystery bag.

Was ok last year with my $75 bag. Received Natasha Denona’s Lila Palette, Hylamide primer (which i rarely use), Wayne Goss’s fan brush (was hoping for a brush set), Becca’s Glow on the Go, RCMA powder, Jouer Lip cream. Overall was worth the money. I’ve yet to reach pan for the Lila Palette. Will take my chance again this year. A Charlotte Tilburry would be nice.

I got the small lucky bag for the first time last year–it felt like it might be a silly luxury but it was a rough year and I just needed something to look forward to in January. After reading of so much disappointment, I was worried I’d made a mistake, but when mine arrived, I was actually super happy! Maybe it was beginner’s luck, but I’ve used most of the items that came in the bag and a couple are things I already have or will re-purchase. Seemed very much worth it and it was fun to be “forced” to try some new things and brands I might not have ventured into. I’m thinking of trying again.

These bags are are tossup. I don’t like to gamble. Two concealer. No no. I like to choose my purchases even if I get less value. Even with presents, I never like what I get as a child. Cash is king.

I was on the early access email list. I literally opened the link the second the email arrived, added the XL bag to my cart, went to pay, and “item no longer available.” Yes, as far as I can tell, the XL bags sold out in under a minute. I know it’s a great deal, but, seriously?

Kate Avatar

I ordered my first one today! Just the normal size; I don’t feel particularly strongly about perfume or hair products, so I thought the risk of being disappointed in the XL was too high. Maybe if I have a good box this year I’ll go for the XL in 2020. I almost got the XL just for the better change of a Natasha Denona palette, though…

I was sitting by my phone this morning waiting for the bags to become available and purchased my XL Lucky Bag less than one minute after they went live. I love the Beautylish Lucky Bags! Primarily I like the excitement of not knowing what I will get, it’s a little like being a child and not knowing what Santa will bring. I have most of the stuff I want so this is just a little extra fun. I share whatever I don’t want with my daughter, so nothing goes to waste.

This is my third year ordering the Beautylish Lucky Bag. I received good items in both previous bags. My first Bag was the regular size. I love the XL Bag better because I get more stuff, lol. If they’d let me order two, I probably would.

I’m am looking forward to hearing what everyone gets in their Lucky Bags this year!

Bah, my email I got to late because it got buried in so many Boxing Day sales emails. Ordered only a Fair-Medium set this year because of Everything else was sold out and I kind of wanted the Jefree one as I don’t own too much of this brand. lol

I found them ok. Each year I also got primers that I didn’t end up using (Ofra First year and Hylamide Finisher HA Blur which I might try) but overall I liked what I got. Hoping to get something from brands I’ve never tried anything from before as there are a number of brands from BEAUTYLISH that requires international shipping for me. lol

I was somehow able to get a XL bag, but they did sell out within a minute or so. I hope it’s worth the price tag. I know a lot of people didn’t receive the email from Beautylish or their orders didn’t go through and were upset.

I had a meeting this morning, forgot about the Lucky Bags and by the time I went through my e-mail, they were all sold-out in every size. Last year, I remember getting e-mails for days from Beautylish about the regular Lucky Bags still being available, but I’m thinking maybe they decided this year to limit quantities more so as to make to make them seem like hotter commodities. I kind of wish I had known it was going to be so different from last year, but alas. The silver lining is that there’s some money saved! Hope those who were speedy enough to nab one get great tidings …
