Did you discover any new beauty favorites in 2018?

Oh, most definitely! There are so many new products, and I’m lucky enough to test quite a few, so inevitably, there are new shades I fall in love with all the time! A few noteworthy faves: Pat McGrath palettes (Hey, Decadence was reviewed in 2018!), Marc Jacobs See-quins, Natasha Denona Super Glow, Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, ColourPop Chasing Rainbows Palette. Bonus: I’ve rediscovered my love for Hourglass Diffused Light and Bite’s Creme Glosses.

Since eyeshadows are my Achilles heel, it would have to be the new Tarte palette and UD’s Born to Run, along with 2 of the newer Smashbox Cover Shot palettes – Minimalist and Punked. Minimalist, especially, makes getting ready in the morning such a breeze. Also – and this will sound really nuts – I discovered This Works sleep/pillow spray but I’ve been using it as a fragrance! The instructions say not to but I’ve done it with no ill effects and figure that as long as the sprayed areas aren’t exposed to sunlight, I am okay. So far, so good!

Thanks to you I discovered/got the PM Decadence palette, which I use in conjunction with other palettes/shadows from time to time. I also just got the LH Metallic Mysteries II quad, which I plan to use in a similar manner. And I got the CR QOH palette as my one and only more orange/red-based palette. I don’t buy much makeup anymore so these have made a difference.

Another thing I recently found thanks to one regular contributor here are bamboo cotton makeup remover pads. What a great concept and useful product!

Surprisedly delighted by Nyx suede cream ll…or whatever it is called. Nyx releases so many new formulas, that it is overwhelming to track and differentiate. Like I needed another greige lip….Brooklyn Thorn….but that formula is very comfortable, a smidge of satin to the matte, wears like iron, no migration. Think if I want an offbeat shade, i’ll check those first, as, esp budget friendly on sale. (Now.)

Yesss!!! Catrice prime & fine dewy glow fixing spray! It’s unfortunately sold out everywhere now though bc it is so popular! Also, Bite Beauty Lipgloss, NYX Suede Matte lipstick in Moonwalk, NYX Suede Lipliners, Essence Lipsticks, ABH Dream Glow Kit, Urban Decay Born To Run eyeshadow palette, Mario Badescu Facial sprays, omg so much more! Maybelline Lipsticks, Maybelline Hydration Primer, OHHH! Botanics Hydration Thirst Light Serum is amazing! And it’s inexpensive too! I have really dry gross skin in the winter especially but I started using that and my skin has been amazing!

My favorite discover is the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation. The shade range is pitiful, yes. But, it just applies so well, lasts forever on the skin, is lightweight, does not get oily, layers well with other products…the list goes on and on. I’ve always been a high-end foundation kinda gal, but this foundation has reformed me. Unless something really good comes along, I think I’ll be using this throughout 2019.

Guerlain lipsticks! I now have four and they’re all gorgeous. Other new beauty favorites for me this year include Colourpop Fame Eye Palette, Diorskin Nude Luminizer in Pink Glow, Diorshow Brow Styler, Bare Minerals Bare Sensuals Eye Palette, Chanel Stylo Yeux Eyeliners, and the Clarisonic Mia. And a new favorite technique is using a light layer of Dior Addict Lip Glow as a base coat for MAC’s Retro Matte lipsticks to help them go on smooth and creamy.

There’s probably a lot more…

Literally, Pat McGrath anything. I have really enjoyed this brand for the past 12 months. Clarin Lip Oils have been another discovery for me this year. Several skin care items including Blithe Tundra Chaga and Firming Essence, MIBA Calcium Ion Cleanser and Cushion Foundation although the shades are undertoned a bit funky, maybe more grey than I am use to but I am able to make it work. Marc Jacobs See-Quinns and Dior Brow Styler. I am sure there are at least 15 more items but this is enough to start anyway!!

2018 has definitely delivered some very excellent products into my stash. Including some daily use workhorses that have helped to keep my face looking flawless longer; UD All-Nighter Setting Spray, Hourglass Dim Light Ambient Light Powder, RCMA No Color Powder. Then there’s the more “fun” products! Like, MAC x Patrick Starrr Slay Ride lipstick, UD Born To Run and Beached e/s palettes, Pat McGrath MTHRSHP Palettes in La Vie En Rose, Metalmorphosis and Bronze Temptation, plus her fabulous LuxeTrance and MatteTrance lipstick formulas! Oh, and Flesh Fatale Blitztrance and Aliengelic LUST Lip gloss, too. Nars blush formula is something that got me this past year big time! From Fetishised to the Hot Tryst palette to Blissful, I LOVE his cheek products. As has the Audacious lipstick formula. First year using them, and I’m floored by how much I love them! Plus, Ofra Glazed Donut and ABH Amrezy h/l’s. I’m sure there’s more, but I don’t want this to turn into a novel, LOL.

Forgot the one and literally ONLY greigey lipstick that I truly love on myself (an added plus is that it feels so good on), Too Faced Throw Back Lipstick in Hoochie! Wore it in a look I did with Huda New Nude Palette w/ that black-plum from PMG Metalmorphosis for depth and Nars Blissful blush, looked like a million bucks for a change! So, Huda New Nude Palette and Emerald, too….

Some of these products might be older releases, but I discovered them in 2018.

2018 was the year I discovered brands like Hourglass and Becca, but not for their highly known face powders (which I actually don’t like). From Hourglass my 2018 favorite is Veil Mineral Primer Oil Free SPF 15, which was love at first try from a Sephora sample. From Becca in 2018 I discovered two new complexion favorites Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer (perfect for my dark and dry undereye area) and Ultimate Coverage 24-Hour Foundation (which almost stands par with my holy grail foundations: Estee Lauder Double Wear and MAC ProLongwear Waterproof).
Speaking of Estee Lauder, in 2018 I discovered the Double Wear powder, so now I can say the foundation, concealer and powder from the range are favorites.
Although Rihanna Fenty Beauty line doesn’t appeal to me as aesthetics (too colorful and glittery), in 2018 I discovered the Flyliner, which is a favorite along holy grail liners as Physicians formula, Styla and Kat von V. With my hooded eyes, oily eyelids and lack of skill, finding a new liquid liner favorite is actually very difficult; now I have three!
While not a per se product favorite, in 2018 I discovered that I like better teardrop shaped brow pencils, like Benefit Goof Proof, Maybelline Total Temptation Brow Definer or Wet’n’Wild UltimateBrow. I find them easier to work with than pencils… and they last me at least 2-3x times longer than pencils.

The Pat McGrath Decadence Palette (I’m so glad I bought it) and the Clinique Get Cheeky Holiday Palette are my favorite new things this year. I tried Paula’s Choice for the first time, and the hydrating cleanser, toner, and SPF 50 moisturizer (all from the Resist line) are my new favorites. I didn’t buy as many color cosmetics this year. I made a point to really play with what I already have. Still, every ebates check went towards Pat McGrath.
I’m telling myself I am not going to buy any more eye palettes for at least 6 months. The only exception I will allow myself is if Pat McGrath releases a great matte palette.

Designer Brands foundations – even the powder one is really good for setting makeup! Luminous Hydrating and Velvet Matte are particular favourites!

Colourpop Glass Bull pressed eyeshadow.

Blithe Apricot Gold pressed serum.

Makeup Revolution liquid highlighters, in particular Luminous Gold, Starlight and Pixie Dust.

Colourpop Lux lipsticks, especially Scorpio Moon and Belle.

Yes, indeed I did discover new and loved beauty products in 2018. These include:
Anastasia’s Sultry Palette — my first purchase from ABH and I love it.
City Colour Singles in Cleo – a copper gold, All Eyes on Me – taupe, Sandstorm – brown shimmer and Tidepool – a mint green.
L’Oreal’s True Match foundation in Rose Ivory – the first time that L’Oreal has made a dedicated foundation to those with pink undertones in a porcelain shade.
Colour Pop’s Lux lipsticks in Liquid Courage, Gallop, Chocolatier, Brick and Cinnamon – first order from them
Chanel’s Tisse D’Automne – new for me and lovely.

Rediscoveries: bareMinerals The Playlist palette and Dior’s Bonne Etoile.
