What has been your favorite makeup look that you have ever worn? What made it so special?
Antique gold on the eye, glowy cheeks, and red lips–this is my “special occasion” look because I always feel my most beautiful in it.

My recreation of Irene Adler’s first appearance makeup from “Sherlock”: dark turquoise eyeliner, fair skin, deep red lips.
I love smokey eyes in general, but I really enjoy wearing colorful ones (green, blue, cranberry/burgundy), not just the classic black/grey and brown. Out of those, my favorite is probably a navy blue smokey eye, using Burberry’s Midnight Blue over a black base, blended out lightly with a warm brown, black or blue on the the upper and lower water lines and plenty of black mascara. I like to wear that with either a peach or nude rose blush (Tarte’s Peaceful or Exposed) and either peach or nude rose lips (I usually go for Revlon lip butter in Peach Parfait or Burberry English Rose lip cover). I keep my foundation very light anytime I wear a very dark eye look. Definitely my favorite makeup look :).
Not special occasion but it is simple and quick for me. I’ve been so busy that I need to be out the door quick. I’ve been prepping my skin with milk of magnesia face mask, aspirin mask, and and exfoliating scrub on alternating days. I do this at night because of my hectic days. It’s been working wonders for my skin. So now I can get away with just using a concealer for my old scars and dark spots.
So I’ve just been putting in concealer where I need to. I tightline my eyes, curl my lashes, and add a coat of mascara. The last thing I do is grab a lipgloss or lipstick. I’ve been using MAC hue and it’s perfect for everyday. It’s quick and simple and takes me less than two minutes. Actually, I’ve been doing this in my car while starting the engine and heating up the engine! Like I said, been really busy and hectic!
On the eyes: the purple and sparkly black shades from the Dior Night Butterfly palette with M.A.C. Stars N’ Rockets. On the lips: YSL Rouge Volupte in Beige Ultimate. This look brings out the amber in my brown eyes and has gotten me the most compliments of all the looks I’ve ever done.
I think I look the best in the “victoria’s secret” look– smokey, glossy bronze eyes, big lashes, light blush/contouring, and nude peach lips. But I’m also a sucker for just bold black retro liner and badass red lips!
I don’t think I could choose one favorite look… Maybe a dark smokey eye with a glossy nude lip?
I dont have any favorite look. I wear makeup for the sole purpose to use all the lots of makeup I buy and also to look professional at work. I do, however, wish I can apply makeup like the starlets from the 50’s and 60’s movies and T.V. shows, but I am not talented. I wish I can apply makeup like Goldie Star.
I think her name is Angie…which Christine posts.
Probably the smokey eye look I’ve had done professionally once or twice. I just can’t do it as well!
I have yet to wear a “special occasion” makeup, since I really got into makeup only a year ago or so… When I want to feel good though, I usely wear my Chanel Eclosion quad, my favourite. I find it extremely flattering on me. I like to wear it with a soft pink blush and a my-lips-but-better kind of lipstick. But I’ll try to be more sophisticated this Christmas, so maybe I’ll find my “special occasion” makeup! It’ll probably involve my Guerlain Rouge Automatique Samsara and my Giorgio Armani ETK eyeshadow #14.
Revlon made matte singles, one was called Cedar (a medium brown) and the other was (I think) Plumwood. They looked awesome together. And whatever dark l/s I could find at the moment. But the main look was Cedar and Plumwood. Ultima II had similar colors, btw.
Taupey smokey eyes, a subtle peachy blush, neutral lips
Christine, do you have a link to you in your favorite look?
This is more or less it! http://www.temptalia.com/an-ode-to-chanel-dragon-rouge-allure-laque
flawless full coverage skin, goldish lightly smoked eye, peachy pink glowy cheeks, bold lips
Black liner with a slight wing (sometimes liquid, sometimes pencil, sometimes marker, sometimes gel – depends on how much time I have), highlight on the browbone (Benefit’s Highbrow, usually), a little undereye concealer, some Too Faced Pink Leopard on my cheekbones and where the sun would hit, and then whatever lipstick I want…because everything else is neutral enough for me to go from a shiny nude to a bright red matte lip, and it works just fine. This is definitely my fall-back look, and usually the one upon which I build everything else.
Hmmm…I’d have to say…
Light foundation and powder, just enough to make my skin flawless and slightly matte
With groomed eyebrows, curled eyelashes with 2 coats of lengthening mascara for feathery eyelashes
And red lips (Revlon Really Red) with a touch of red lip gloss in the center. Simple but perfect.
I like to accentuate my strongest features, which are my eyes (very dark, cool brown), and my prominent bone structure. I have lips on the smaller side, so I usually down-play that.
My favorite look is a dark, intense cut-crease on the eyes, sculpting the face (without any colorerd blush), and using a nude gloss. My UD Black palette is my HG, although I haven’t played around with my UD Smoked palette.
One of my favorite was the look that I did for my wedding anniversary. It was a toned down version of my wedding makeup. On my wedding day, I did classic pinup makeup. For the toned down look, cat Eyes, pretty pink cheeks and lips.
I’d like to say a look from a dept store make-over but the make-up artists tend to go over board with makeup and I always feel like a cheap hooker. Not a look I go for. LOL!
I guess a fav would be a bold eye, neutral face and a dark lip.
Lately it has been the “Iconic” look from the look book that came with my UD Smoked palette. A taupe smokey eye with blended out black liner. I wear it with a little Tarte Tipsy blush and Revlon lip butter in Creamsicle.
I really love “Get the look” by Barry M in green/jade shade. It’s so easy to do and makes my green eyes pop. A bit of glow from Bobbi brown brick on the cheeks and nude lipstick ๐
My favorite look is focused on the lips and starts off with lip liner on the lips for a more defined and polished lip look, followed with the use of a rose, deep pink, pink berry lip color that is opaque. I find this look to be so romantic and I really like the contrast it makes with pale skin. However I like the above colors in medium shades that I prefer over extremely bright or vampy colors. I would continue with really defined black eyelashes without any eye liner or eyeshadow. A soft very natural blush completes the look ๐ . For me this look represents elegance, beauty and in an odd way makes me think of past eras. Iยดts not surprising since Iยดm a fan of history, literature, monuments, old cities and villages, art, vintage furniture and jewelry, historical fashion…I think that look makes me nostalgic and makes me dream ๐ .
Chanel’s Kaska Beige, with the taupey brown used both in the crease and around the underside of the eye. Makes me look ethereal. Would probably make anyone look ethereal really. It’s quite a neutral colour palette and my skin tone is kind of neutral as well (more like golden, which to me means that I’ve got lots of colour – both yellow and pink – in my skin so sometimes neither pink, yellow nor neutral foundations work on me…) so I can pair it with NAR’s Outlaw or Chanel’s Star Dust or Benefit’s Dandelion. Depends on my mood. And to finish it off, Dolce Vita gloss or a sheered out application of Tom Ford’s Crimson Noir.
