Bold and Black — The Queen’s Ambition

L’Oreal The Queen’s Ambition Nail Lacquer ($5.99 for 0.39 fl. oz.) is a deep, dark black with silver glitter in multiple sizes. It is very similar to Illamasqua Creator, though Creator photographers more warm-toned on me. It is also comparable to NARS Night Breed, though The Queen’s Ambition is smoother.

It’s completely opaque after two coats, but one coat was almost enough for total opacity.  The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it applied very fluidly and evenly across the nail without bubbling, streaking, or pooling along the sides.  If you couldn’t bring yourself to pay the price for Creator, this makes for a more budget-friendly version that is incredibly close.  I don’t think you could tell the difference!  I haven’t tested the wear of this specific shade, but I have done wear tests for six or so of L’Oreal’s Colour Riche line, and they’ve worn very well; a full week without chipping, just very minor tip wear.

I bought this a few weeks ago, but I didn’t want to open it until you had reviewed it to know if I should keep this, or buy creator instead. I’m so happy it got an A+! I think ill have to put it on today!

WOW!!! Talk about “breathtaking” (and I’m not a huge fan of black nail polish). I’m gonna git me some o’ this asap. I’ll have the most ambitiously queenly toes in all of yoga!

Wow. I must have got a bad bottle or something. Because mine was incredibly thick and goopy. And it didn’t wear worth a you-know-what. I had to touch it up every day, until the 4th day when it just started peeling off in sheets. 🙁

Wow, thank you so much for reviewing this! I almost caved and bought Illa. Creator yesterday during the Sephora VIB sale, but now I’m really glad I didn’t!

That label made me think it was a dark blue. I love creator (from your swatches) and this looks like a close dupe! I think I’ll get this instead! 🙂

Those of you having trouble finding it– It was originally released a month + ago as part of the LE L’Oreal Paris x Project Runway “Electric Fantasie” line.

There are 4 separate displays for it, and 2 LE polishes per display. The displays are labeled “The Artsy Muse”, “The Seductive Temptress”, “The Enchanted Queen”, and “The Wise Mystic”. The latter 2 are my favorite collections. The line is still in stock at many drugstores and Ultas.

I have several of these, and they are gorgeous! Only shade I didn’t care for is The Temptress’ Power.

I must have bought an odd bottle because it most definitely was not fluid, it was thick, and balded horribly. The other polish from the line I also bought, Brit Invasion, had the same problem as well.

Oops, my bad. Brit is from their London collection. I grabbed it off the Project Runway display a month or so ago with Queen’s Ambition. Different collection, but the same exact problems. 🙁

Just found this at Rite Aid..I was a little irked someone had opened up another bottle of green L’Oreal Polish and had spilled it all over the other bottles.Someone also decided to paint designs on the Nicole OPI display. This is very irritating to me at drug stores, and why I prefer when they SEAL the polishes and makeup. Any ways, I loved the color 🙂

I’m so glad to read this review! Been hrinaeg about these and waiting for a BOGO at one of my drugstores to pick some up (there’s been BOGO 50% off, but that’s not good enough for me, haha). Quick question can you make a comparison to the 24/7 colors? It looks like the purple isn’t dupeable with those, but I’m wondering how the gold and silver compare to Honey and Dime, both of which I have. It looks like Silver Lightning is a book chromier than Dime, and Gold Charge is pretty similar to Honey?
