L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Creams Soiree Review & Photos

Will You Part With Any One of These?

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Creams Soiree ($65.00 for 10 oz.) contains 10 one-ounce hand creams in a variety of scents. There are two regular Shea Butters, then one each of: Shea Date Bouquet, Lavender, Cherry Blossom, Rose 4 Reines, Fleur Cherie, Shea Mango Flower, Pivoine Flora, and Shea Rose Petals. The set also includes two gift bags–perfectly for breaking up the set and sharing the love with friends and family.

One of my favorite aspects of L’Occitane’s Hand Creams is how quickly they dry down. It’s one of the more important features of a hand cream that I’m always on the lookout for, because I want to apply it and then be able to resume doing whatever it is shortly after!  Though it feels like a cream, so it has a thicker, heavier consistency, it dries down quickly and feels lightweight on and never greasy.  The formula is effective and keeps my hands hydrated throughout the day.

I’ve only tried the regular, Date Bouquet, Lavender, and Mango Flower versions so far, but it’ll be fun to work through the rest of the scents.  (I have used both the regular and Lavender versions previously.) The versions with 20% seem thicker and richer to me, very cream-like, while ones that aren’t marked with that seem a bit lighter weight and almost like a gel-cream hybrid in consistency.

When I saw this set, I thought it was adorable, and after seeing it in person, it absolutely is. It’s a great kit to receive for sure, but it would also work incredibly well as stocking stuffers. I love the 1 oz. size, because then I can stash these all over the house, in my bag, the car, and travel-friendly.  You can purchase 1 oz. tubes of several of these versions separately, and those retail for $10 a pop, so the kit contains $100 worth of tubes (but they do offer larger sizes for some of the scents, too, and it is less-per-ounce with the larger sizes).

Do you think this would be a good thing to try out for people who’ve never tried the brand before? I haven’t, so I think I might get this to keep a few for myself and then give some away to friends and family!

So, 1 oz. sizes are $10, while 2.6 oz. sizes are $22 for the scented ones… I spotted a 5.2 oz. of the regular formula for $28. With all that said, $10/1 oz. tube = $100 for $65. I do think it’s a nice way to try out different scents or the formula overall, and they’re easy to pass along to others if you’re less keen on one scent or another!

I just got one of these hand creams (for free) and I love it! Why didn’t I try these earlier? I love that they are thick enough to make my hands feel moisturized without feel heavy or overly greasy. Plus they smell great!

L’Occitane is a good brand on the whole. Their shea butter products are very good, hand cream, body lotion, face gentle scrub etc… I have several products that I always buy again. They have nice gifts ideas for Christmas around 50 € which is not so pricey. I highly recommand their baby lotion so soft, and some eaux de toilette ( pivoine, verveine, cerisier du Japon and others ), basic but good as gift ideas.

“it dries down quickly and feels lightweight on and never greasy”

Seriously? I can use half a pea-size on my hands and they are still greasy an hour later :S I have only tried the regular version, though.

I love this brand, fwiw. I have like five of the little tubes and I stash them everywhere, and I have a big tube of the unscented (the lavender’s too strong for me). It’s currently my favorite hand cream, having beat out Clarins, Bliss, Aveda, and others.

I’ve only tried the unscented, but I *love* this stuff. My brother worked for an airline a while back, and the first-class complimentary travel bags were stocked with this brand. When we moved, I came across a bag of travel-sized products and I still have a few of these, just in time for Winter. Still, I may have to splurge on some of these scents…

thanks for the input ladies! Shea butter is expensive, but an ingredient I know works for me. I’ve been using Deborah Lippmann’s Rich Girl which is really nice, but with winter coming, I’m going to need something even more moisturizing. I will definitely give this a go. I like the idea of the set because I too like to have hand cream stashes everywhere and these little tubes would be perfect for that.

I have Rich Girl and personally hate it; I find it too greasy and at the same time not moisturizing enough. L’Occitane is worlds better, IMO 🙂

I have one of these, and I think it’s nice, but I would’t pay $10 for it. If you wash your hands frequently, you have to reapply cream constantly anyway. This would be a fantastic gift for the L’Occitane lover in your life.

L’Occitane is the ONLY hand cream I buy, it never feels greasy and absorbs pretty quickly. I am almost done with my previous 5.2oz tube, and need to stock up for winter so I am buying this and keeping them all for myself!! 🙂

With my sensitive skin, the only hand cream I use (which I find so comforting) is Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream. I buy 6-7 lbs. a year when I can get 20-30% off and fill 2 oz. MAC squeeze travel bottles with me. It’s an excellent cream, has no dyes, perfumes, etc. I learned about it through my dermatologist.

L’Occitane is too thin for my liking, but I’ll use it if I’m desperate. I absolute MUST moisturize after washing my hands. Can’t stand not to.

I have the Lavender one and I love it. I know it is a bit pricy, and I don’t use it that often. It sits on my nightstand and I use it when I go to sleep. A little goes a LONG way with this stuff.

personally this is a bit too much of the one thing and I’m not a big fan of handcream but I can see this being perfect for handcream/ l’occitane lovers!

Malia Avatar

I dont think this is expensive at all, and with ten in the set, I think I could part with a few! I love the original, and I got a rose one before but it might have been limited cause then I couldnt find it again… these all sound lovely!

Cathy Avatar

I absolutely love L’Occitane’s hand creams!! My favorite is the Honey and Shea Butter one; it smells soo good! The price is a slight turnoff though, since I’m not too big on hand creams because of crew.

Angie Avatar

Hey Christine! I just walked into loccitane, and the store mgr said they did not have this set. She told me to check Nordstrom and sephora, so I did, and they did not have it either. When and where does this launch?

blueraccoon Avatar

The only reason I wouldn’t buy this is because I’m sensitive to scents and after my experience with their lavender I’m in no hurry to try others. (too. strong.) I do love the unscented, though, and I just picked up a thing of their extra rich body lotion, which is 15% shea butter. It’s lighter and a bit more liquid than the hand cream, but it works really well.
