Karl Lagerfeld for shu uemura Eyelash Curler Review & Photos
Karl Lagerfeld for shu uemura Eyelash Curler
How Many Eyelash Curlers Does One Person Need?
Karl Lagerfeld for shu uemura Eyelash Curler ($24.00) is shu’s famous eyelash curler with a vibrant red curling pad and mon shu charm attached to the handle. The charm is completely removable, and I’d recommend doing so–but shu said as much saying to “take this lovelyc harm along in your favorite bag.” If the red curling pad and the charm don’t do it for you, the original curler is $4 less. Either way, I’m a huge fan of shu uemura’s curler, and I have been for years! I’ve given it an award for being the best for the past three years.
What I like is the way the handles are shaped, so the grip is comfortable, while the curler is wide and gently curved to fit around all my lashes. It doesn’t pinch the skin, and it doesn’t crimp my lashes either.  While I can’t vouch for this particular unit, I’ve owned two shu’s in my lifetime, and the only reason I bought the second was because I needed the curling pads.  They’re well-made, and I’ve never felt that the spring has lots its power over time.
Eyelash curlers may be the most fun product to photograph, if only because they always look a bit like torture devices.  And I’m sure to anyone who hasn’t been around one or used one often, they do look strange.  No torture here, just prettily curled lashes, which make eyes appear larger and more awake.

I would be tempted to pick this up if my own shu uemura Eyelash Curler still holding strong. love it!
The next time you need more curling pads you can buy Shiseido refills – I’ve heard that they fit into the Shu curler.
I guess I would have to try it before I could pass judgement, but to me all eyelash curlers are the same. I don’t really use them though, so I guess my pov is moot. Either way, the charm isn’t cute enough to be worth $4 :/
well you are suppose to replace curlers on occasion, and seeing how my curler is 8 years old, i could use a new one and wouldn’t mind paying $4 more for something that is high quality, cute, and lasts ages!
Where can we buy it?
Hi Georgina! There’s a link in the beginning of the post that will take you to shu uemura’s website! 🙂
Thanks!
I have the regular Shu Uemura eyelash curler. How often should the pad thingys be replaced?
Shu Uemura doesn’t sell replacement pads do they?
Thanks!
As far as I know, they don’t have replacement pads! I’ve heard conflicting stories/rumors – some say that the spring wears down over time, so by the time you get through two curling pads, it’s time to replace the whole thing.
Thanks Christine. Ive owned mine for years (prob 5+). I think it’s time I bought a new one (just because of the pads – the actual mechanics are still just fine!).
Rarely do I find myself in the position of buying something gimmicky or cutesy, but I’m a complete and total sucker for this mon shu charm! I have to have it. Argh!
I do not believe all eyelash curlers are created equal. I can comfortably use shu uemura and also tweezerman, but I have to say it’s a love hate relationship. My lashes are stubbornly straight.
So kawaii!! XD I’ve been meaning to get a shu curler so maybe this give me the push to finally do it.
While I have the original version of this already, the red pad and Mon Shu make it quite difficult to resist!
I have always been pretty hsppy with my cheap drugstore eyelash curler. Your post makes me want to try the shu uemura. I wonder what I have been missing?
I love the original Shu Uemura eyelash curler, but do I like it more with this little charm on it? Probably not. I still think it’s the best eyelash curler around though 🙂
Cute! Are these curlers better than the ones from MAC?
I prefer these just a little bit more 🙂
The original is fine for me! I’ll pass on this one.
I’ve never actually used an eyelash curler, but I think I’d go for the original over this one – I don’t need the charm or red curling pads 🙂
This looks just like the Kevyn Aucoin curler and I will stick to that . ive tried the Shu uemura curler on several occasions ( i gave them a 3 chances cause everyone always raves about them) and every single time itscut my lashes off.. Will never purchase any of there products
I have the Shu Uemura eyelash curler with a gold handle….which I bought many years ago. I see no different. But then I again, I dont wear mascara very much anymore. I have this really flat Asian lashes, long but straight…doesnt curl. As stated before in previous post, when something first comes out, it is always the best quality..whether is is makeup or clothing or something else….
I own chanel eyelash curler which work very well on my monolid-asian eyes. I will pass this one. thanks for the review
It’d be cool if the charm was a little Karl
Lol love your comment and I agree if the charm was a little Karl I would totally consider it as a purchase option! 😀 but as it is it doesn´t interest me.
I have the original Shu, and just put in the 2nd pad that came with it. It definitely works better with a fresh pad. But the crazy thing is that I also on a whim bought a $3.99 generic eyelash curler at Walgreen’s, and I actually get better results with the cheapo one because it’s totally flat and it fits my Asian eyelids! The Shu is very nice, but its sides poke into my eyelids at the outer corners because the shu is too curved for me. And I still can’t reach the outer lashes very well to curl them close to the lashline. It’s so crazy. I noticed that Target has the exact same generic curler with different packaging for $2.44.
I have absolutely no desire to get the KL shu curler with the charm, and would never pay extra for it.
I was super excited to get the Shu Uemura original lash curler, but unfortunately it doesn’t work too well for me. The curve is not pronounced enough to cover my lashline well so I find I always have to pull my eyelashes on the sides to get them to curl from the root and not the middle.
Mon shu= a teen rebel Dora the Explorer. LOL. I prefer the Shiseido curler. Works better on me.
I would like to try this curler! I heard from youtube it is amazing tool!
I remember discovering in high school theater that all the boys were terrified of eyelash curlers (by the time you get to university and community theater, most of the male actors have figured out what they’re for). We’d chase them around with them; they were really amazed that we put those things on our eyes.
I want to pick up one of the SU curlers but would probably get the original because its cheaper and also because the red pad and charm do nothing for me and would be wasted on me.
By the way, your nails look fantastic in the photos!! Au natural and well manicured is always a great look. I only wish mine would grow that long and stay that nice (they chip and I get little splits like flakes), they’re a total bummer. 🙂
Thank you, Lauren! 🙂
I used to use Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails when I was much younger and my nails weren’t as strong!
I got this curler for the same price as the original in Shu Hong Kong. I’ve been using this curler for 10 yrs and it’s the best for me.
I beg to differ! The GOLD daiso eyelash curler works wonders even on monolids. You can’t go wrong at $1.62
Does you Shu curler have a single letter at either side of the brand name? Cause I think I bought a fake curler.
Hi Christine , i have straight lashes but they are somewhere in between long and average i HATE waterproof mascara and heated eye lash curlers , a lot ! i was wondering if this would hold a curl all day with normal mascara without falling flat . my lashes are very easy to curl 🙂 and will mac’s brow gel help me hold a curl on my lashes all day ??????
I don’t think Brow Gel is what you’d want!
