How important is finishing a cheek color to you?

Since I spend a lot of time testing new products, I don’t go back and re-use things regularly enough to finish them. I think I have some baby dips in a few blushes I’ve had for YEARS! If I try to pretend as if I wasn’t a blogger, I think as long as I was using something a couple of times a month, I’m happy. I’m not a minimalist and really enjoy variety in color, texture, and formula, so I’d expect not to finish things often.

Right now, it’s important for me to finish my NARS Orgasm blush because I already bought a backup. But I’m thinking of saving about 1/4 of it to use for traveling, because the backup is the large size. Otherwise, it’s not that important to me. I have several other blushes I may never use up. But I won’t be buying any new shades anytime soon.

I’ve never finished a cheek product! Even on my two most-favorite blushes (Clinique Nude Pop and BECCA Blushed Copper), I’ve only scratched off the etching on top of the pan. I like the idea of hitting pan on a cheek product, but I use too many in my rotation to really achieve that.

Not important at all, really. Since almost all my cheek colours are powders and last decades, it seems, I am quite happy to keep them since I love almost all of them (which is why I bought them in the first place). When I think about the remote possibility of finishing some that are no longer available, I feel a bit of a pang….

Not easily. It requires targeting. When I got CP Aphrodisiac, panned it almost instantly. Realized that was a factor of cream and size of product. Momentarily was psyched at the idea of a CP repurchase, well, any repurchase. Then there was a delivery. New stuff draws the eye and mind from what you were using assiduously. Then the former love gets backburnered. Fickle magpie at heart. I think I’ll put Aphrodisiac front and center by daily stuff. That way I might finish it by NY.

It bothers me a lot to spend my money on a beauty product and not use it frequently (or at least seasonally). Having said that, I could care less if I finish any of it. My goal is to use and enjoy everything I buy. I rationalize that the ‘finishing’ of a product, if ever, will take care of itself. (I used to have so much of everything just laying around, even HE. Maybe I’d use a product once or twice, and then forget about it. It all made for a massive collection — of wasteful spending!)

I am trying to use up many products and I cannot buy a new version until the first one is used up etc. But what I have discovered in this process is that it takes some of the joy out of using my products. It’s more important to me to use my stuff which is why I change out and rotate my products rather than rigidly using up a product. I love my blush collection and I don’t want it to be a chore to use it. So it’s not very important I use a blush. And it takes so long anyway so I’m not bothered by it

Not too terribly important. I have so many cheek products that I know there’s no way I’ll finish them all off, so you know…I might toss a bunch save for my ride or dies. My Milani Romantic Rose blush? Can’t hold a candle to literally every blush I own, the shade is just so perfect for my skintone. And I won’t use any other bronzers unless it’s PF Butter Bronze. Why bother attempting to finish others when I love those so much?

Highlighters are a completely different issue entirely. I start using one thinking it’ll be my project pan and then fall in love with another. Help me, I’m addicted to glowing like a disco ball.

In general, in all categories from eyeshadows to lipsticks to blushes: it’s rather important to me I finish at least some of what I own. More a matter of being thoughtful and responsible about how I spend money. The only exception are holiday or special event items.

I have finished one blush before; an HG before it was discontinued. Since then, I have not. Lately I’ve kept from buying additional blushes while I try to make a bigger dent in what I own, for above reasons.

I bought UD X-Rated 11 months ago and there is a noticeable dip in it. I plan on finishing it, and I’ll be so proud of myself. XD I’ve done some pretty serious damage to Clinique Pansy Pop too.

I agree! I rather enjoy what I have than being more concerned with using something up. That doesn’t mean I continue to buy endless amounts of blush. I’m just not going out of my way to use something up. I rather just enjoy:)

I’ve finished one cheek product (a blush), and some trial size cheek products. I must say though that I really got into makeup seven-eight years ago. At that time I had one bronzer and one blush (still have the bronzer – Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Soft Shimmer Bronzer).

I try to finish first the cream products that are in stick or pot (Nudestix Illumi-Naughty, Lancôme Glowing Lights Glow Subtil Silky Creme Highlighter), followed by the liquid ones ( Inglot Liquid Blush, Nars Orgasm Liquid Blush, Algenist Luminizing Drops, CoverFX drops and liquid bronzer).

As for the powder cheek products that are LE and that I love (eg. Chanel, MAC), I intend to stop close to hitting pan on, for collection purposes or prior to finding a dupe.

Because most of mine are powder, I’m not terribly worried about them turning or anything, so I just use them as often as I like or not. The ColourPop SS for cheeks that I have are still alright, except for them getting dried out over time. The only cheek product I consistently pan is Nyx Taupe due to it getting used all winter (late Oct. – early March) and having a softer consistency.

I recently finished re-organizing my makeup and was quite shocked at how many blushes I own. I am not a blush connoisseur and had I been asked how many I own I would have thought a minimal amount. I have had to readdress my blush purchases. I will never hit pan on a blush and I am as okay with that as I am with hitting pan on any coloured makeup product. I love kjh’s equating wanting pretty new things to the magpie and that is pretty much me in a nut shell.

Alecto Avatar

Not. A variety of blush colors is as important to me as a variety of lip or eye colors. I can be shades of purple one day and shades of orange the next. Most of my blushes and highlighters are loose powder products, so they’re very unlikely to go bad. The first blush I’m likely to finish will probably be CP’s blush Aphrodisiac as I keep using it as an eye shadow.
