Chanel Bleu Illusion de Chanel Collection for Fall 2012

This September: Chanel Bleu Illusion de Chanel Collection

Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, borrows the intangible hues of summer blue. Like a cloud-strewn sky, eyes take up shimmering reflections that change with the light. The juvenile grace of an almost nude face showcases eyes with marine depths, mellowed by the radiance of blue tones.

On eyelids, ILLUSION D’OMBRE takes on a scintillating and satiny effect that makes eye makeup glow with each bat of the lashes. Two airy shades of grey blue, one pale, DESTINATION, and the other more intense, APPARITION, adapt to all faces. Eyeshadows are applied according to inspiration: in sheer washes or deep colour blocks, in monochrome or gradations. Mascara-laden lashes accentuate the graphic tracing of the eye contour with a sophisticated note. LE CRAYON YEUX BLEU AÉRIEN borders the eyelids with an intense stroke, like a horizon line over the ocean.
For the final step of this chromatic journey, LE VERNIS SKY LINE sweeps nails with a delicate shade of pearly blue that captures and softens the light in its pearly reflections.

Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow ($36.00)

Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer ($29.00)

  • Bleu Aerien Intense, luminous blue

When it says will be available at boutiques does that refer to say a Chanel boutique inside a Nordstrom? It won’t be available at regular Chanel counters right?

I saw this on Chanel’s website a few days ago and thought the way they did the page/ad was lovely. The light, the light involved…. So pretty. Even the blue nail varnish really caught my eye, despite the fact that blue pastels and I don’t get along. Then, I saw that graphite grey-blue eyeshadow and just about keeled over with lust. Dark grey…. mmmmm. I feel like Pavlov’s Dog when it comes to that colour.

I’m not much of a blue person… although I don’t dislike it as much as pink. The only product here I could see myself using is the pencil, but I can find great eye pencils for only a portion of the price! Maybe the darker shadow too, but I usually don’t buy Chanel anyway.

I looked online yesterday and apparition was out of stock on Chanel.com. I’ve been waiting all summer for these illusion d’ombres and out of stock was not what I wanted to see. I’ll hope that I can find it locally, but if these were the looks that went with spring/summer haute couture why wait til the fall launch to release them? I’m usually on board with Chanel, but I’ m a bit frustrated thi go ’round.

Going to Dillard’s tomorrow to check these out. Why oh why does Chanel have such a hold on me? If I don’t ABSOLUTELY love it, I will not buy…really…serious this time…lol.
