Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!
Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).
We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!
We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
I have a bunch that I thought would be fun to answer (please feel free to reword them!):
• What is your least favorite of your own facial features and how do you use makeup to make it look better?
• What generally-accepted makeup rules do you intentionally break?
• What is the worst sales tactic a makeup sales associate has used to try to get you to buy a product?
• What is your favorite decade for makeup looks, and why? How do you achieve that look?
• Do you ever invent makeup challenges for yourself just for fun?
• If you were an existing MAC lipstick, which one would you be, and why?
• Ask your fellow Temptalians for advice. (Not sure how to word this question. This would be where we can ask each other for advice on a technique or product that we’re having trouble with.)
One more…
• Have you ever used the power of makeup to make people think you’re not feeling well (such as to get out of work)? If so, how did you do it?
Great questions!
These are great questions, Seraphine!
-If you could collaborate with any makeup brand, who would you choose and what would you make?
-What brushes are on your wishlist right now?
-Do you ever have periods of time where you stop wearing makeup?
-What do you do to get out of a makeup rut?
-If your favorite & least favorite brands were reading these comments, what would you want them to know?
I really like these two questions:
-Do you ever have periods of time where you stop wearing makeup?
-If your favorite & least favorite brands were reading these comments, what would you want them to know?
I’ve been one of the lucky ones that scored one of the $100 Sephora gift cards for 2500 points. I’m curious what everyone would splurge on. One of the rules is that if the amount is below $100, you lose the difference. So the total pre-tax has to be at least $100.
Id love to have a big decussion with everyone on the site about “What palette do you want to see next? What type of palette have you been searching for that doesn’t seem to exist? Do you prefer 2, 4, 6, 12, 20 shade palettes, what is your ideal size?”
I wish we could support pictures to have people submit their fantasy palettes like what you have been doing lately with UD and CP. I love seeing what other people come up with, and sometimes it gives me inspiration for my next few looks.
Which eyeshadow palette inspires you the most & the least?
What is your “ideal” eyeshadow palette?
What do you want to see in holiday releases?
What do you think of celebrity beauty brands?
What do you think of influencer beauty brands?
How do you incorporate bright eyeshadow colors into your look?
Hi! I’m not sure if you have answered these already/recently, but here are a few:
1. What is your ideal travel bag full of products if you are going away for a long weekend? (relatedly, best travel bag of products that are easily to take on a plane without angering TSA/fear that they will crack/leak all over the place).
2. Are there any ingredients in products that you try to avoid?
Do you subscribe to a beauty box? How long have you been a subscriber? What items would like to see featured in a box? Do you feel the products fit your profile? Have you found any holy grail products through your subscription?
Who do you think is the most genuine/truthful YouTube beauty influencer? Have you ever watched a makeup tutorial video on YouTube and then applied your makeup exactly as shown in the video? What were the results?
What is your best advice regarding: eye makeup? primer? brushes? foundation?
What makeup products are always in your purse?
Do you post any “makeup of the day” pictures to social media such as Instagram or Snapchat? Have you ever submitted a makeup look to a website (ex. Makeup Geek, Sephora, etc)?
I would like to second the request for an “ideal travel bag” and TSA friendly items discussion. Maybe with additional categories for traveling for a special event vs traveling for work vs for fun/vacation ?
I “3rd” this “ideal travel bag” (tsa friendly) topic!
In addition, I would like to know what items others bring on a longer trip, (say, 2 weeks) where there is some cross-over between categories.
Also, what are some high-quality “all-in-one palettes”, (if any!)
If you could have one career in the beauty industry, what would you choose and why?
You have been gifted a $500 beauty gift card: How will you spend it?
What is your go-to primer, foundation, concealer, powder routine? Please share your age (in decade form), skin type, and concerns.
What is on your wishlist?
What products are you wearing on your face right now?
What are your favorite fall fragrances?
If you could buy a beauty gift for one special person in your life, what would you give them and why?
If you could ask temptalia readers any beauty-related question, what would you ask?
What part of your makeup routine do you think you do the best?
What part of your makeup routine needs improvement?
How do you keep your skin hydrated during the winter months?
Do you have any special skin care rituals for days when you aren’t wearing makeup and want to pamper yourself?
Lots of good questions here. I especially like:
“What products are you wearing on your face right now?”
“What are your favorite fall fragrances?”
“If you could ask Temptalia readers any beauty-related question, what would you ask?” (Which is along the same lines as one of the questions I proposed, but couldn’t figure out how to word!)
I saw that, Seraphine: We are exhibiting ESP teamwork ? !
All great questions; I especially like:
If you could ask temptalia readers any beauty-related question, what would you ask?
What is on your wishlist?
What is your go-to primer, foundation, concealer, powder routine? Please share your age (in decade form), skin type, and concerns.
It would be fun to hear of about folks’ current makeup-related projects, like
– what is your most recent or next makeup organization project;
– what product are you currently in search of;
– what is your next focus area (like, skin care; upgrading eyeshadows; improving brows…).
Any question that prompts a creative exchange of ideas regarding makeup organization is a very, very good thing! I’m constantly working on better ways to organize my ever-expanding collection.
Do use indie-brand makeup? What do you like and dislike about indies?
If you could create a dream product for yourself, what would it be?
Did you get a free lipstick from Mac on Lipstick day?
What color? How was the line and the wait?
Do you keep a monthly/yearly makeup budget? (Same question could be asked of skincare, haircare, nails, etc.)
What is your makeup “white whale”?
Do you feel comfortable going about your day without any makeup?
What are some makeup marketing tactics that you think consumers should be more aware/wary of?
Are there any steps you’d like to add to your makeup routine? Any steps you’d like to remove?
What product(s) do you think companies will try to push next? In the same vein of the highlighter/liquid lipstick/eyeshadow palette trends of the past few years
Do you think Western companies will try to adopt the 10+ step Asian Beauty routine as a way to sell more products?
Which brand(s) would you most like to see make the move to Sephora and/or Ulta?
Do you think you are more likely to splurge on makeup when shopping online or in-store?
What is your ideal number of lipsticks? (Same question could be asked for each makeup category)
What are the makeup trends in your city/region?
Is there any music or movies that inspire your makeup looks?
What skincare products/techniques have made a noticeable difference for you?
What are your favorite ways to repurpose products that haven’t exactly worked for you (ex. eyeshadow into a highlight)
What are your best money-saving tips for buying makeup, skincare, etc.?
Good questions!
I like the “white whale” question — that’s what I was trying to get at in one of mine, but you have worded so much better.
Oh one more haha:
Do your purchases tend to be drugstore, mid-range/high-end, or a mix of both? How have your tendencies changed over time?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I’m quite curious:
How do your personal beliefs influence your make-up buying decisions? (For example, do you avoid “red” or “blue” companies, brands that work with certain people/influencers, cruelty-free brands, charities supported, “problematic” owners, etc.)
So many great questions here. I’ll throw my support behind a few already mentioned and add some more:
– What skincare products have been game changers for you (let us know your approx. age/skincare issues)?
– What makeup/techniques/treatments have made the biggest improvements in your look?
– What’s your favorite look for: work presentations or public speaking? for romantic evenings? for weekends? for parties/holidays?
– Is there a difference between your daytime & nightime looks? What is it?
– What product do you see a need for that hasn’t been invented/marketed yet?
– Do you coordinate particular makeup looks with certain types of fragrance? If so, how do you relate your look to your scent?
– What’s the most common critique going on in your head, when someone’s makeup makes you want to wage an emergency intervention? (ie. Blend more!!, Too subtle! Wrong colors for you! etc)
– What do you most often admire in other people’s makeup/look?
Great questions…especially the fragrance question!
I have a few:
1. The perfect shade of lipstick for you is……..
2. What eyeshadow shades do you use that you don’t choose in your clothes?
3. How have your preferences for eyeshadows evolved over time?
Have you ever been treated better wearing makeup vs. no makeup ?
Do you wear any makeup if you’re at all sick ?
Do you have a go-to makeup look for job interviews ? For first dates ?
How much makeup do you wear to outdoor sporting events (where you are in the audience )?
What age do you think is the right age for girls to wear makeup (or is there no right or wrong age)?
How often (if at all) do you touch up makeup while at work?
Which “holy grail” or
“Cult status” products have you never used or bought?
Would love to know what brands you would like to see on the Temptalia blog that she has not reviewed yet or a specific product that she has not tried. For as much as I love ColourPop and Wet n Wild, I can’t afford most of the products that are reviewed here and something tells me I’m not the only one. Also, availability is an issue, it would be nice to see more products reviewed that are in stores and not things that have to be ordered online. Mainstream brands that can be picked up at drug or discount stores like Maybelline, L’Oreal and CoverGirl eg.
Anything having to do with sharing ideas on how to organize your collections (palettes, singles, hippies, blushes, and highlighters in particular), especially for optimizing using them (i.e. so as not not bury palettes or colors in Neverland). Photos would be a great plus, but I don’t know it that’s possible here.
Do you take advantage of the 20% off sales at Sephora/ULTA? What are some things you love that you wouldn’t have bought otherwise? Do you think the sales make you spend more than you would have without the discount?
What product that is generally not well received by the beauty community do you absolutely love? And vice versa?
How do you like to do a no-buy? By length of time or targeted towards specific products you may be well stocked on? Which approach is most successful for you?
Tips for the ‘No-makeup-makeup” look
Trusted products well known especially formulated for treating:
1) Sensitive skin.
2) Dry skin
3) Combo skin (parts dry/parts oily?)
4) Oily skin
-Is it hard for you to declutter your collection? Would you ever keep something too old to use for color reference or sentiment? How do you chose what to get rid of? Do you give away unwanted items or toss?
-Reguarding the recent pressure for foundation/concealer lines to be all inclusive, should we cut a brand some slack under any circumstances?
-What do you do to try to ensure products you order online suit your coloring? What do you wish brands would do to help you chose products that suit your coloring? Are there any brands that do a good job of being helpful?
-Asside from browbone and black shades, are there any type of shades you have a lot of dupes for? Did you buy them purposefully or unconsciously?
