Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge Launches

This August:  New Aqua Rouge

Calling all lip color addicts. MAKE UP FOR EVER is adding another make up bag must-have to its award winning Aqua range – Aqua Rouge. This new collection of smudge-proof, high-impact liquid lip color delivers the intensity and long-lasting coverage of a lip stain, with the eye-catching shine of a gloss.

Gina Brooke, Madonna’s longtime make up artist, has collaborated with MAKE UP FOR EVER to create the official lip color for the Material Girl’s highly anticipated MDNA tour — new Aqua Rouge #8 in an iconic shade of red. Brooke, a beauty expert in her own right whose work has appeared in every major fashion magazine, approached MAKE UP FOR EVER after falling in love with their Aqua Rouge collection for fall 2012. Together, MAKE FOR EVER and Brooke created the ideal shade of red lip color for the tour.

Available in 12 shades from soft beiges to bold berries, Aqua Rouge’s double-ended tube provides highly pigmented color in two simple steps: first apply your favorite opaque shade using the applicator, and then top with the transparent gloss for a lacquered finish. Aqua Rouge was created for professional make up artists working backstage and on-set who desire products that need minimal touch ups.

Aqua Rouge provides waterproof, kiss-proof color that will not transfer. A combination of high molecular weight polymers and volatile oils lock color on the lips and provide full coverage, to guarantee ultra-long wear. The formula also boasts mica for intense color payoff, and a gelling agent for comfortable and effortless wear.

My big concern with these is how drying they are/might be. I have princess lips or something; they just dry out very quickly, so I’m always putting balm on or a moisturizing lip product. And the claims don’t say it’s moisturizing, so…I may be out of luck.

Allow me to commiserate. I feel like my mouth is a persnickety five year old that grows virulent and agitated any time I force it to wear anything.

My current lip product love is the Revlon balm stains. They’re moisturizing enough I can wear them without worrying about balm and they look pretty good, too 🙂 But yeah, anything that either might be drying or even just isn’t moisturizing is a no go for me.

Coincidentally, I tried out the wear of one of those (Smitten?) tonight while I was at work. I was actually fairly impressed with how well it wore. I did occasionally catch myself licking my lips, but it didn’t leave me anywhere near as dehydrated as I expected. A good product to keep on hand, I think. 🙂

I took the bold foray into bright red lipstick (thank you L’Oreal Infallible) and I really want to try red more often. Madonna concert red you say? Well looks like I’m picking up #8 when the paycheck comes in!

I am the proud owner of 4 of these. Let me tell you, they are not drying at all. I have full, dry lips and these things are a joy to wear. They last and last and never make my lips look cracked or rough. I hope they expand the color range.

I never, EVER have any luck with these types of products. If anything I’ll try them next time I’m at Sephora, but I won’t be buying them blind.

Was never a fan of long wearing lipstick because of the drying peeling effect. I take my lips very seriously. I am happy to say I love the new aqua rouge, purchased one yesterday and ran back to Sephora for another one. I hope they expand the color line pronto! Have no fear, this is a great product and your lips will look great and thank you too
