Bobbi Brown Blue Moon Long-Wear Cream Shadow Review, Photos, Swatches

Bobbi Brown Blue Moon Long-Wear Cream Shadow ($24.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “shimmering bright blue.” It’s a medium blue with a very subtle sheen. Make Up For Ever #25 is lighter, frostier. Maybelline Tenacious Teal is a little more aqua-blue in comparison. MAC Blue Candy is lighter. Wet ‘n’ Wild Fly me to the Moon is a step or two darker.

This shade goes on very sheerly, and it was difficult to build up the intensity. If you take a ton of product, you can get opaque color, but applying and smoothing it out on the lid ends up in as a rather patchy result. The best method that worked for me was to apply one layer, wait about 15-30 seconds, then apply a second, wait another 15-30 seconds, and apply a thrid, and possibly a fouth, layer. The problem with that method was there was some faint but noticeable creasing after six hours. When I used a sheer layer, there was very minor creasing–after eight hours, though.  Blue Moon had a soft, creamy texture that blended easily so long as you went for a sheer application.

I am a lover of all blue shadows. I have so many it is not even funny … so I have put myself on a ‘no-buy of blue shadows’, for now. I like how this shears out to a silver-ish blue tone. It’s ashame about the build up issue. I do want to eventually buy it and compare it to my CK blue cream shadow (my HG!!).

OMG! I can reply to you!!

Just 5? Okay … These are my top 5 that I personally reach for the most. My HG is the Calvin Klein cream eyeshadow. I’d pay upwards of $100 for a tiny pot of it. I love it that much!!

1) Calvin Klein CK – 311 Turquoise Blue
2) MAC – Judy Blue
3) Estée Lauder ‘Pure Color’ Eyeshadow Palette – Blue Dahlia (top left and bottom right)
4) Shiseido – Proenza Schouler Blue
5) NYX – Atlantic

Well, I am an oldie 🙁 LOL! I saw 1 posted on Ebay a while ago. Last look it went for $380. Actually, it went for more than that but I cannot recall the exact amount. It’s a fav of mine but not at that price.

Uh oh here comes Lady Sarcasm through the streets of Coventry ….ok I will spare that bit as this really looked lovely in the pot and I do live the Black Pearl color I’ve got from her. But truly, would some pigment muck up the product some how?

Estee Lauder Corp. gel liners/cream shadows are usually pretty good there’s a reason why MAC and Bobbi Brown are beloved. It’s a shame on the pigmentation/Application though as these are products made my the same Canadian manufacture.

I am really hoping you’ll be posting a review of BB Desert Twilight palette soon- I would like to buy it but would love to see your review first!

Dear mother of….I can’t even begin to describe how much I hate the color of this. And after reading your review regarding the quality, there isn’t a hope in hell that I’d buy it. How could they mess this up so badly when we all know they are capable of putting out much nicer cream/gel products? I expect a lot more from Bobbi Brown, especially for the prices they charge. This looks like an old, cheesy drugstore product from the 70s. Utterly hideous….
