I usually pair warm tones with warmer eye/cheek makeup and cool tones with cooler eye/cheek makeup. I tend to pull from some tone that was on cheeks or on eyes, so if I had green eye makeup and coral blush, I’d likely opt for a coral lip.

Mostly trial and error. I try to match warm with warm and cool with cool. If I decide to wear a bright or dark shade to work, I’ll bring a lighter neutral, like NARS Barbara, with me in case I change my mind during the day. If I’m doing a stronger eye, I go for a more neutral lip and vice versa. But if I’m going out at night to somewhere with dim lighting, like a restaurant or bar, then it’s smoky eyes and red lips! (Deciding WHICH of my 15+ red lipsticks to wear is a whole other story!)

I coordinate in context of what I’m wearing, so all makes sense together. Like today I’m wearing a warm olive top, so makeup is in tones of reds and warm browns. When I wear gray a/o black, I’ll wear more plums, purples, pinks. Etc.
My skin tone is decidedly warm so I only wear warms or neutral colors; cool shades wash me out.
I am SO anal about matching my blush to my lip ahaha to the point it causes me some anxiety!!
I like to match my cheeks to my lips!!
I gravitate toward neutral eye looks and minimal blush so any lipstick will usually be fine. I do like putting on a really bold lip like dark plum or a quirky color before eye and cheek makeup sometimes so that I don’t overdo the rest of my face! It can be tricky to stop early enough because I favor very minimal and effortless eyes with statement lips, but I don’t want them to be completely overpowered or look boring either. I try to add in enough brightness to keep it fresh and unexpected.
Generally, I do pair warmer lip colors with a warm eye look, but it’s not so easy for me to get away with an all cool look, though. Therefore, if I’m doing a cool smokey taupe or something like that, I will usually go with something like UD Liar or MAC Nick’s Nude or Shy Girl, sometimes even a bright red like Maria Moretti! If I’m doing a teal-blue look, I usually use a coral or brownish nude (UD Broken, for example). Now, if I’m doing a purple eye look; damn the torpedoes, I’m doing a purple or purplish lip, too!
How do I coordinate lip colour? Not very well, I think. I tend to pay more attention to depth of shade as opposed to tone. I think it is an area where I could certainly improve. I just naturally gravitate to more cool toned deep berries, reds and plums and don’t pay enough attention to the warm/cool aspect of my looks.
I usually don’t think in terms of colour but undertone, and I always match my lips to my cheeks. So warm-toned blush = warm-toned lipstick and, shockingly, cool-toned blush = cool-toned lipstick :p
Now, when it comes to the eyes, I’ll either create a contrast, which means warm eyes with cool lips and cheeks for instance, and that’s most of the time, or rock a full cool-toned/warm-toned look
Usually I match my lip color tone (warm/cool) to that of my blush, or I do a monochrome look. Simple nude or neutral eyeshadow usually gets paired with a bright and/or unconventional color.
I often “reverse” traditional color combinations. For example, I wear berry eyeshadow with gray lipstick much more often than I do gray eyeshadow with berry lipstick.
I almost never match gray with darker browns. I think the combination looks weird on me.
I feel like eye makeup can be cool or warm, regardless of skin tone. W/ my warm skin, I like either, as long as the cool eye isn’t icy, super bright or too dark. But cool toned lips don’t work on me. So I’ll do a cool eye w/ neutral lip & neutral-warm cheek. Or everything warm. As for texture, I need a little sheen somewhere, but will use matte somewhere else -steering between flat/dead and disco ball is my goal.
I do the same thing as you, Christine. Cool eyes, cheeks, and lips, e.g. I coordinate all of the tones. My favorite cool-toned lipstick is Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Morning After. It’s a gorgeous baby pink with cool undertones (as Ulta describes it—and I agree with them) and enough brown in it to make it very wearable and flattering. I also love NARS Rosecliff. My favorite warm-toned lipstick is NARS Dolce Vita—it looks great on everyone! I love my Bobbi Brown Nude Pink Blush (a pale pink with cool undertones) and Bobbi Brown Desert Pink (a neutral blush with warm undertones). My two favorite eye palettes are Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics (being discontinued 🙁 —is reduced to $27 on Sephora and Urban Decay’s website) and Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour palette. I only wear mattes, so these palettes make me happy! They’re both excellent eyeshadows. The Urban Decay ones are better quality, though, IMHO, but the KVD ones are excellent, too. I don’t really coordinate so much as I just go with what seems right at the time.
I tend to wear MLBB shades almost exclusively. I think it may be my lip shape but whenever I put on a red, coral, or any other color that is not even close to my natural shade I feel like I look clownish.
That said, I do pair cooler eye looks with cooler mauves and warmer looks with mid tone pinks or rosie shades.
I almost always wear neutral nude/rose blush colors so that doesn’t factor into it. Although i did just get Dior’s Rosy Glow blush so will have to see how that influences my lip and eye colors.
I usually decide on what lip colour to wear to co-ordinate with my eye colour and clothes. So if I am wearing cool tones, I will pick a berry lip. If it is warmer tones – then it will be a cocoa bronze. When I am wearing bright hues, then it will probably be a ginger or red shade.
Bold lips with a neutral or “bare” eye (though cheek might be bold too), neutral with a classically polished look (which I rarely do), and “bare” lips with a bold eye (cheek could be either). I don’t really try to work out what color goes with what, except if I wear a lip color that’s zombie-like or drains color from me (blue, green, grey, etc.), I’ll usually go with a flushed eye and/or cheek to bring the life back.
I guess I also tend to wear warm eyes and cheeks with cool lips; I’m yellow under-toned and I tend to look odd if I’m wearing too much cool-toned makeup. My lips look better with cool berries and reds, so I’ll usually go with peaches and oranges on cheeks and eyes when I’m wearing those colors on my lips.
I match my lipstick with my blush, usually. Sometimes I’ll do a more neutral blush and match my lipstick to the lid color or transition color, which is pretty easy considering I’m mostly all neutral or nude anyway. And I keep undertones matched too – cool with cool and warm with warm.
Warm with warm and cool with cool. I wish I was more experimental and knew more about complimentary colors, I’m always impressed when someone can use a blue shadow with a warm lip and actually look good.
I’m never matchy with anything, but the colors have to look good together. So all I look for is something that isn’t bad with what I’ve already picked. Sometimes I pick the lipstick first; sometimes the eye look. I’m like you, Christine, in that I try something new almost daily, but sadly, I haven’t figured out how to make that my job.
