Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 is Here!
It’s that time of the year: Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is now open to everyone — the sale lasts through August 5th! I’m a long-time, loyal Nordstrom customer, and I always look forward to the sale–it’s when I try to do the “bulk” of my clothing shopping while also picking up some of the beauty exclusives. (You can peruse a recap of Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives here.)
Here are some of the things I have my eye this year, based on what was shown in the catalog… would love to hear what you’re hoping to try or purchase! Edited: Updated with what I actually bought! And of course, I made it a triple points day…
Nordstrom Beauty Exclusives
Here’s what I ended up purchasing with respect to the beauty exclusives! I’m most looking forward to the Charlotte Tilbury’s Pretty Glowing Skin Palette (have really enjoyed her cheek products in the past) and am curious to see how it performs since it’s quite a big palette for the brand. Though my mom is about 0% interested in beauty except as much as it relates to Temptalia (then she’s all ears), she has a deep affinity for La Mer’s original moisturizer (and no, Nivea, neither US nor European version, was a total dupe for her, though she’d have been happy to have the cheaper option!); all that is to say, I bought La Mer’s The Mini Miracles Collection for her to try.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks
I do the majority of my clothing shopping during Nordstrom’s anniversary sale, so it’s usually a big haul for me… I wasn’t sure about this year’s sale but ended up getting caught up in the pink moment that seems to be happening in fall fashion. I managed to resist the Badgley Mischka Coat (living in Arizona makes it hard to justify a new coat that’ll be worn a few days a year) that had me drooling. It does, in fact, get cool in the winter, so I snagged Leith’s Ribbed Shawl Cocoon Sweater in a pretty pink.
I loved the Halogen Jersey Funnel Neck Top I got last year (in teal) — I find it draws attention to my waist, and while I’m not big on turtlenecks myself, this is just shy and doable — so I was pleased to see it again this year. I’m excited to see if the CeCe Tipped Bow Neck Sweater balances between cute and elegant on me. Similarly, I’m on the fence on how flattering the Halogen Scallop Edge Sweater will be on me, but I’ve had good luck with the brand, and I like the way it looks on the model.
I’ve always wanted to try Tory Burch Ballet Flats (I mostly wear flats), and last year, I picked up a pair of Tory Burch pumps and sandals, which I’ve enjoyed since, so this year’s damage was on a pair in seashell pink.
I’ve been saving up my Nordstrom giftcards I’ve been given just for this sale. I would love to have that Badgley Mischka coat but it’s so expensive! Beauty-wise I’ll probably look at the Nordy Girl Matte palette or the simplehuman mirror! I have a long list of possible purchases!
Just bought two pairs of Addidas sneakers ($40 each!), a pair of running tights, and then *cough* some Kate Somerville cleanser, a sampler of Creed perfumes, and an Anastasia brow wiz combo *cough*
I’m hoping to get a Simplehuman mirror, but I’m not a cardholder, so I’m worried that they’ll sell out before the 20th. I am considering getting a backup of Kiehl’s Creme de Corps, too.
July 20 Update:
Alas, the mirror on sale is not the right one for me! The Zadro mirror I have now has one side that’s regular and the other side is 10x, which is the perfect mirror for me, but the lighting isn’t as good as Simplehuman. My dream mirror is the Simplehuman 1x 5x 10x mirror, which is $300, but I doubt that one will ever be sale-priced in an affordable range for me.
Well I’m having a good birthday today compliments of my Nordys card. Sad I have to pay it off.
I’m a clothes horse and haven’t bought much for the last 2 years due to having too much as it is but I bought the lined moto jacket. I adore leather jackets with a warm lining as with the weather around here regular leathers are too cold without layering another jacket. At $199 it was a steal.
I bought another simple mirror as I thought this years was smaller. I got the slip pillow cases as I’m tired of having face wrinkles in the am, the neulash and brow, and the hourglass blush palette. Always wanted to try this!
I passed on the CT Palette as I knew I would only use 3 of the six pans.. hate that.
I bought the copper mugs for my brother.
Oh I liked the Badgley coat too but I have another long jcrew coat.
Yeah, it’s hard to justify too many winter coats 🙁
Happy birthday, Janine!!
Since last winter was much warmer than usual, but we’re now having a far busier monsoon than average, I’m strongly suspecting that this winter will likely be a colder one. So, I just added that gorgeous green wrap front sweater above and a Halogen funnel neck in ivory to use as a layering piece under low-cut v-neck sweaters and possibly dresses and loose, flowy open cardigans.
I’m curious how monsoon season will go – I keep hearing the last few years have been weaker, so here’s hoping for some rain!
Last summer was a weaker monsoon, for sure. The one before was decent. This one has been WILD, though! Hopefully, it will continue to rain like it has the past 5-6 days. It usually portends a colder, moderately rainy winter from what my son says. He has a crazy knack for predicting weather patterns quite accurately. I don’t get it, but he’s really good at it!
Very interesting! I’ll be curious to see if his prediction is right!
Men’s Creed sampler; saw it on the Muse. Woohoo! For ME!
You guys are so, so lucky having such a wonderful sale in this fabulous shap. I am totally jealous…..
I brought the J Crew pink blazer $139 and tan Timberland boots $99, I brought a navy pair last year on Hautelook and loved them so much I wanted the tan colored ones. I’m just now seeing the Hourglass blush palette and they are my favorite blushes. Good chance I’m going to buy it.
I swatched the Charlotte tilbury palette and was not impressed at all. Nordstrom has a really good return policy, so if you don’t get the opportunity to search it you can always return it.
One thing they did at the Nordstrom I shop at was put all the beauty steals on display. Even the brands they don’t normally carry in store. Made choosing really easy.
