What was the last skincare product that you finished?
Shiseido Benefiance Day Cream SPF 18! I really enjoy that cream, but I’ll be trying some other products before considering returning to it!

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Lumene Valo Glow Boost serum, which I replaced with Biovéne’s Vitamin C serum which is cheaper and has more of both vitamin c and hyaluronic acid. I can’t justify spending up to 30€ per one small bottle of what is mostly water and fragrance. I want to love Lumene and they’ve come up with some nice products since they redid their brand, but there’s still precious little of effective ingredients and way too much fragrance 🙁
Clinique Mild Face Liquid Facial Soap. I just started the first of three backups. I stock up when there’s a sale. I’ve been using it for years.
Peter Thomas Roth retinol fusion serum. I replaced it with a Murad version. I use a number of products and use them up before buying new ones to keep them fresh. The exception would be something not finished at the end of a season, like a heavy moisturizer or a creamy cleanser. Otherwise no backups.
Clarins Super Restorative eye cream. It’s my “go to” so I always have a back-up waiting since it’s almost impossible to tell when it’s about to be empty (though once the pump stops pumping, if you take off the top, there’s close to a month’s worth of product left in the cylinder).
Sunday Riley Juno Oil. I bought this on a recommendation from SFSteph from YouTube. I’m still on the fence about it, although I do have a backup already. Can’t really tell if it made a difference or not… My husband does not like the scent, though. ?
Cera Ve Foaming Cleanser for Normal to Oily skin. It’s one of the few things I repurchased time and again
Two in the last week:
Belif Moisturizing Bomb – now using the backup (night)
Josie Maran Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 – now using the backup (day)
I’m dry and sensitive, not prone to breakouts. Apply both with 100% pure glycerin. Adds more moisture to the Belif. Makes Josie easier to apply because it’s heavy with the white SPF.
Just because: Target brand ‘Sensitive Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes’ are absolutely fantastic! No alcohol. Very soothing and gentle. Really breaks up the Josie SPF 47 (and foundation when I wear it) and makes the second cleansing a breeze. The price is right, too — 25 for $2 and change.
Paula’s Choice Resist Omega+ Complex Serum – and promptly opened one of my many backups! Love it SO much!
Two days ago I finished up another DS of Clinique All About Eyes. It hydrates well. The last full size product I used up was Clinique All About Lips… That’s a staple in my routine.
I finished a Farmacy Sleep Tight Balm. I LOVED it, but I’ll move on to something else because it’s just too expensive.
Cosrx aha/bha toner, preceded by Paula omegas. Finished a sample DE protini; diff to believe that it probably is too strong for me.
– Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Eye Cream — repurchased. Gentle, works fine.
– Clarins Cleansing Milk with gentian for combination/oily skin — on last drops, already repurchased. Strong fragrance is off-putting but I like how it works for me (as first cleanser nighttime especially in summer) I have gotten past it.
– Cerave Renewing SA cleanser — my daily cleanser for years now
Paula’s Choice Retinol body lotion.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads – they’re AMAZING! Been through at least 10 tubs already. Really gentle exfoliator for face and body (use them for ingrown hair prevention too!)
The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane is 99.8% finished. Tonight will be its last usage, from what I can see, there is just barely enough even for that! Before that, I finished up a bottle of TO “Buffet” a week or so ago. I may think the owner is highly unhinged, but the products themselves have really helped my very troubled skin.
He’s quirky for sure, but he seems to have a good heart? lol. I might have missed something more out there than his usual though. The emails always have a very… passionate tone.
The products though! I can’t get anyone IRL to try TO because it’s too cheap to impress my fancy friends and too complicated or niche for everybody else BUT MY SKIN HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER. The Niacinamide and Redinoid in Squalane have given me not just the most even skin I’ve ever had, but the most consistently so. It’s incredible.
I finally finished up the Drunk Elephant Little’s Sample that I purchased in the Sephora spring sale. Really surprised by how long the samples lasted. I plan to eventually purchase most of the products that were in the set but there were a few duds for me.
I finished and started on my back up of the Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol Eye Gel. Love the stuff and although I have added a couple of other products to my eye area routine, I will always include this.
I finished the Belif Aqua Balm and have switched to Pur Soak It Up Moisturizer and am mixing in an equal amount of the Pur Get A Lift Facial Cream. So far, I am liking both of them.
I also finished my Tatcha Camellia Oil Makeup Remover and my Rice Enzyme Exfoliating Powder. Both are products that I will always have in my routine so have back ups for both of them.
Neo Strata 10% Glycolic Acid serum. I’ve gone through a few of these, but picked up the Pixi version to try as it is half the price. Time will tell if is of similar effectiveness.
Drunk Elephant B Hydra. I already had a backup waiting. Third purchase. I mix it with a pump of their C serum and three drops Marula oil, and that’s my total morning routine.
Burt’s Bees Sensitive Face cleanser – it is fabulous and I already have some more. Very creamy and moisturising – no scent at all. It even takes off mascara easily.
Body Shop’s Drops of Youth Concentrate – (a facial oil) Picked this up at the San Francisco airport. It was okay. Will not repurchase. Meh.
I literally just finished the No 7 Early Defense Anti-Aging Cream and I’ve re-purchased it many a time.
I finished The Ordinary Niacinamide and 2% Retinoid in Squalane. Repurchased both, except that I bumped the retinol up to 5%. They are amazing and I highly recommend.
I’ve also recently used up and repurchased Make P:rem SPF 50 and Holy Snails Snowbang. I’ll try a little lower for my sunscreen next time though because I think such a high level of protection is actually exacerbating vitamin D deficiency (suuuuuper common where I live due to climate), but the product is nice in spite of fragrance. Love Snowbang, my skin feels nourished, hydrated, and calm after incorporating it into my routine.
Anew Clinical Skinvincible Multi-Shield Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 50 and Clinique pure vitamin C
Belif – The true cream – Aqua Bomb. I will definably get another one.
Cera Ve moisturizing cream love by itself and how foundation glides over it.
L’Oréal Revitalift products gets my face clear and brighter. Love the pads and serum especially but scrub is mild also I keep in shower and use twice a week.
Got back ups of all these stuff.
Paula’s Choice CALM Redness Relief Moisturizer for Normal to Oily Skin
The Neutrogena Make Up Remover Eye Remover Oil Free 112 ml. It’s a great product at a good price. Gets all the make up off and doesn’t leave any greasy residue. I especially like the twist cap bottle: it’s so good for travelling as you know it will never accidentally open and spill. I’ve gone through soooo many bottles of this, and it’s easy to recycle too.
