What was the last makeup item that you finished?

Burberry Trench Eyeshadow… that is my second or third, I believe… just a soft beige, mostly matte finish – use it as a brow bone shade when there’s no real options in a palette!

Must have been an eyebrow pencil. I’m currently using up a backup from Lumene’s new higher-end range but it will be finished soon enough, and I sort of want to update my routine after I’m through this one! It’s nice and I like the mechanical pen format, but it doesn’t come with a brush. I always do my brows whenever I wear any makeup at all so I do want to try other options too!

MAC Plumful lipstick. It and Craving are my 2 “go to” MAC lipsticks so I’ve always got a backup waiting. To be honest, I rarely finish anything just because I’ve got so much “in rotation” – eyeshadows, blush, liners, etc. – but lipstick is one of the few things I actually do finish. Also, I’ve got a pot of MAC Painterly that is really close to being finished.

Realistically mascara, but I feel like everyone goes through that fast since you’re only supposed to have them for a few months. Apart from mascara then probably a brow product – I finished glossier boy brow and a pot of dip brow around the same time a month or so ago (though the dip brow wasn’t actually used up, it had just dried out beyond repair).

I don’t think I’ve ever finished an eye shadow (only have really gotten into eye shadow in the last year or so), and same with cheek products. I also don’t think I’ve ever finished a lipstick because it’s not something I wear on an everyday basis. I have finished foundations, but even then I’ve only gone through a handful. Most of the time I end up buying new releases before my old ones are fully used up. The foundations I have gone through are the tarte amazonian clay, the MUFE mat velvet, the marc jacobs remarcable, and I’m almost done the UD all nighter.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara. That and Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup are the two items I use up on a regular basis. I have so many eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks, I don’t know if I’ll ever use any of them up! But I did just hit pan on my NARS Orgasm Blush, so I will be getting a new one when it’s gone. It will be my third or fourth repurchase of it.

MAC eyebrow pencil in Lingering. MAC recently reformulated it, raised the price, and, I hear, it is no longer a good product. I am now using the only one of the discontinued formula I could get on Ebay. After that’s gone, I have what I hear is a good dupe from Maybelline. We shall see.

Probably It Superhero mascara. Not bad at first, but performance went downhill very rapidly. Would not replace it, but who needs to, with >10 mini samples unopened? Or FAB triple duty eye, if you consider it a concealer primer. Seldom hit pan on color, as am too acquisitive, not a good thing.

1. BECCA Pressed Skin Perfector Highlighter in Champagne Pop. That’s my jam. I wear some kind of highlighter every day, but I always get compliments from my coworkers when I wear Champagne Pop.

2. Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Wet black waterproof mascara. This is being discontinued, so I’m starting to hoard!

3. Still waterproof liquid black eyeliner

4. Laura Mercier translucent loose powder

5. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I fluctuate between shades, but I think I used up all of Macadamia.

So yeah, I tend to use a lot of staples in basic colors. But for the colored cosmetics like eyeshadow, blush, and lippies, I have a lot of variety and don’t hit pan unless something shattered the product.

Armani cream eyeshadow in shade 23, a medium neutral brown in a tube with a doe foot applicator. I would not repurchase even if it were cruelty free because it was difficulty to get a precise shape on my upper lid with this type of applicator. It also emphasized small bumps and imperfections on my eyelids that powders seem to glide over.

A few items:
1. Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Quartz (48). This is a HG shade for me and unfortunately I don’t have any backups and I haven’t found dupes for it. In the pan it looks more pink but when applied on my eyes it’s the perfect pink-lavender shade, so soft and luminous. Every time I wear it I’m asked what shade/ brand it is. I still have a bit left and I will take it to a Sephora store to check for possible dupes.

2. Lancôme Cils Booster XL (primer). I replaced it with the Grande Primer from Grande Cosmetics and while so many are raving about it, I’m a bit disappointed. The brush is quite big and the primer is creamier than my beloved Lancôme and doesn’t seem to dry down. Maybe it’s because it has microfibers and peptides and it is supposed to thicken the lashes, idk. I bought it thinking it will nourish the lashes as well and not just prime them. I will use it up but I don’t think I will repurchase it.

3. UD Eye Primer Original. Didn’t like it. I have a mini size of their Anti-Aging one but there is something about the UD formula that does not work for me. I apply a thin layer of it and it still creases during the day, although not so much as the Original one. I don’t want to apply a translucent/setting powder on top as my eyelids are on the drier side. I want to try MAC Pots (either Painterly or Soft Ochre).

I’ve learned the hard way about Chanel: If you really, really love something, buy a backup. This brand turns over their ‘classics’ on a dime. Nevermind LE. I’m talking regular stock. Here today and gone tomorrow. Quartz IS really pretty. Hope you can find a dupe. If it was a peach color you needed, you’d only have a bazillion choices. It’s a conspiracy I tell you. A conspiracy! ?

You should try the NARS Pro Prime eyeshadow primer. It’s supposed to be great for people with oily lids or whose eyeshadow tends to crease. I have really oily lids, and MAC paint pot creased horribly on me. It wasn’t a good primer for me, but everyone is different. The Primer Potion worked for me. I hope this is helpful for you!

I really like Benefit Air Patrol shadow primer. But a little goes a long way. It spreads out easily with a brush, and it’s great for my eyes. I’m allergic-y, so I get dry flaky patches along with crease grease. This product deals with both and keeps my shadow on and looking the way it did when I first applied it.

Leah Avatar

Does the Benefit Air Patrol have a scent (even a subtle one)? I am highly allergic to all fragrance. (I have to take Benadryl any time I leave the house because if people are wearing perfume, if there is air freshener or scented candles, or if people are wearing any scented product (even regular laundry detergent!!), I get very ill and nearly pass out—even with the Benadryl!! So, I have to be extra careful.). At the moment, I am waiting for my Sephora delivery of the Kat Von D eyeshadow primer. I hope it works!! Fingers crossed!!!

LORAC eyeliner in bronze. Not too heavy — light shimmer and neutral — which suits my coloring, good for daily office wear, very long lasting. I already had a back up. Unfortunately, discontinued recently.

NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Gobi. Very solid performer, great finish, but won’t repurchase until I’m done with the other foundations/tinted moisturizers 4 I have open. And when that happens, who knows what the industry will come up with by then? 🙂

My beloved MAC 24hr extended eye base (prep+prime). Already replaced.

Also, my Burberry Full Brows is on its last leg. It is expensive, but I love it so much, worried that I will not be happy with anything else and have to fork out the money.

I’m at the end of my favorite foundation, my Bobbi Brown Skin Stick Foundation. I’m really finished with it, but I always like to finish something until it’s empty. I’m so finished with it that the container is scratching my face as I draw it on my skin. Lol! Are any of you like that, too?

NARS Cruella lip crayon. I got this as a Sephora birthday gift along with Rakugan which I preferred. Cruella,s formula became dry towards the end however I did get quite a few compliments when wearing it. Would not repurchase.
