I think I might like the setting powders better without the “shaver” – that way, you have the option of swirling them all together or just using one colour if you wanted (a bit of the green to correct redness, for example).  I find the “shaver” concept to be nothing more than a fad (I’ve got a Smashbox one….it seems so unnecessary).

Stila has some really wearable selections. The lip and cheek stain is a great color but isn’t that brush a little small for the cheek area?

The One Step Illuminate sounds so promising since illuminating products tend to emphasize lines and blips and things on your skin.  I wonder if it delivers on all it’s claims.

You know how much I love serums, so that part made me sit up and look closer. But, after having read the description 3 times, I’m nonplussed. I don’t think I get it.  A serum is supposed to penetrate deep into the skin. But this one has bronzers in it??  Either I’m a dolt, either they’re using “serum” in a whole new way, or this is just not a good idea. Maybe they meant “skin-nourishing, oil-controlling primer illuminator” instead?? And, frankly, that photo is a bit alarming to me. It makes me think of some scientific specimen jar with mini, floating organs stacked up like sausages. Or one big long strand of intestinal gut.  I would be very interested to see what you think if you ever test the “serum” but, for now, I think I’ll pass.

@Kafka I think in this case they’re using “serum” to mean “primer”. From what I can tell it’s supposed to be a moisturizing/nourishing primer with tint and illumination in it? I think? I wouldn’t even call it bronzers, really, since it’s supposed to luminize more than bronze, but…

@blueraccoon  Heh, good catch on the luminize vs. bronze discrepancy too! Yep, the whole thing is one definitional mess. I would *LOVE* to see how Christine reviews this since she is so precise on a product’s specific language claims. <grin>  That said, I think my greatest issue with this product may be that photo. I really don’t think I could use this product if it really looks like that. It’s probably just me with my overly vivid imagination but still, mini-organs (kidneys?) or intestinal gut…  just…. no.  <shudder>

@Kafka yum yum..entrails!  Laughing my guts out.. hmm bad choice of words?  Oh good, I’m not the only one confused as to exactly what this is supposed to do.. everything! it’s magic!

I got a mini size of the Stila One Step Bronzer (in the same DNA-y tube) with my latest Birchbox. At first I was pretty interested in the product, then VERY skeptical when I deposited a small amount on the back of my hand. It looked like dark mud. I poked at it and then decided to be brave (hey, I can wash it off if I hate it, right?) and put it all over my face. I have to say, it’s a bit of a strange product. It gave me a bit of a glow, but with a fair amount of shimmer, and the product seemed to stick very much on dry skin, which created unsightly little dark spots (and I don’t have extremely dry skin!). I wonder if the illuminator will be different. I’d love to see Christine test out the bronzer, too!

hey christine!

im really confused, i’ve seen people with stila eyeshadows in like a black pot form, but whilst i was watching missglamorazzi, she had a stila eyeshadow in the gorgeous silver pot thing with a removable lid, and the lid said stila on it-how does this work?! thank you 🙂
