NARS Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm Review, Photos, Swatches
Orgasm
NARS Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm ($28.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light-medium pink with soft, warm gold pearl. It’s supposed to be a “sheer wash” of color with a “radiant finish” paired with hydrating ingredients (like monoi oil). The texture was smooth, lightly creamy, and had a moderate amount of slip–in short, it felt like an emollient lip balm that slid around on my lips while worn (but was comfortable to wear).
The base color was sheer as described, but it yielded a noticeable sheen, light shimmer, and a barely-there pink tint. For someone who has naturally pinker or redder lips, I wouldn’t expect much effect or impact, though. The formula was lightly hydrating, but I found I preferred a lot of other lip balms over this for actual hydration. The shine and most of the shimmer seemed to disappear within a couple of hours. I didn’t notice any scent or taste.

This is an easy skip for me. This would look like a regular clear lip balm on my lips.
It’s pretty, but too basic for its price tag. Let’s be honest we want it for the packaging ?
This is really just a glorified, expensive, yet not sounding terribly effective, lip balm. Easy skip!
Hmm, I wish there was a cheap dupe of this. It’s pretty, but ridiculously overpriced for what it is.
Well I want to love this. It sounds delicious and it looks really pretty. But like others have said, there must be something less pricey for the payoff.
I was so excited to see Nars come out with this, but when I swatched this lip balm at Sephora, it was barely discernible on my lips. I’ll just stick with the Dior Lip Glow even though it is more expensive.
Me too. Lip Glow is wonderful. What shade do you have?
l currently have Holographic Purple because I wanted to try something new. I love it so far! I love the original pink one as well. I’ve went through three tubes of that one. When it’s fall and winter, I go for the Berry lip glow which is probably my favorite of the lip glows.
Beautiful shade for winter days when you need a lip balm.
Based on the swatch, I feel like it’s extremely similar to L’OREAL nude Balm in the shade Rose Elixir.
The packaging wouldn’t be as glamorous as this product’s, but I bet if you really wanted a matching lip balm without buying a new product, one could DIY this with the actual Orgasm blush mixed with clear lip balm/petroleum jelly (or a cheaper dupe)!
Does this seem similar at all to the dior lip glows (if you’ve tried those)?
I don’t think I’ve tried one in awhile, and I know Dior reformulates often enough that I couldn’t speak confidently on today’s version!
Not very hydrating and a barely noticeable tint? What’s the point? I’m glad I spent the extra $6 to get Dior Lip Glow, which has a gorgeous tint (I bought the shade Berry), is creamy and hydrating, stays on well without slipping around, and has very pretty packaging. Yes, it’s expensive for a lip balm, but I love it.
That’s not pigmented enough for $28, even for a lip balm. Skip for me.
It is ridiculously overpriced, but I went in store to swatch it and I still want one ? Thank goodness it was out of stock in the store (we have very few Nars stockists in my country)
