There are so many fantastic reds available on the market these days, but I managed to narrow it down to this list of five that I think would make an incredible ruby red pout for Valentine’s Day.

  1. NYX Too Chic — subtly blue-based red with a semi-matte finish
  2. Guerlain Liu — glossy semi-opaque red with pink
  3. MAC Ruby Woo — blue-based, matte, not budging
  4. NARS Mascate — matte, deep red with very subtle cool undertones
  5. MAC Prolong — subtly blue-based red with a natural sheen

Guerlain Rouge Automatique in 120 Coque d’Or! My boyfriend is very tolerant about my makeup experiment (heck, he likes the wackiest nail polishes I have), but he can’t stand most lip colors (that’s just on his radar of too much makeup). I tried Coque d’Or on and tentatively showed my face in front of him. To my surprise this one got green light! I got it a couple of days ago and I’ll probably wear it for V Day.

My favorite red ever is Hot Coral from the Revlon Moondrops line. It’s bright and lovely, and it doesn’t age me like most reds tend to do.

I might consider wearing something a little pinker for Valentine’s Day though…I haven’t worn Maybelline’s Flame yet.

My favorite red is Giorgio Armani’s Rouge D’Armani Lipstick #402.

Some might say it’s more of a berry color, but with my complexion it comes of the perfect red for me!
