Have you ever done makeup on your significant other?
Nope, I haven’t! He doesn’t mind makeup on me (however little or much I wear, however crazy it may look on any given day…), but it’s not something he’s ever asked me to do! I’m just pleased to have him cleansing and moisturizing 😉
Yes! I did my wife’s makeup on our wedding day (as well as my own – we’re both women). It was one of the most special parts of the day for me, and I really enjoyed doing a few trials with her beforehand to settle on a look she loved.
I wish she would let me do her makeup more often for date nights and such, just because she has such a pretty face and I have so many ideas I’d like to try on her face – but alas, the wedding was the only time she’s actually let me do it. She’s normally quite a bit more low-maintenance than I am and only wears a little pencil eyeliner and mascara 🙂
Reading your comment made me smile. What a lovely memory. ?
The thought of that made me smile. My boyfriend of 16 years is such a rough around the edges guy that I cannot even fathom it…although he has no problem telling me how much better I look with makeup. Yeah, he’s a real charmer.
Haaaa…my boyfriend is one of those too, but he doesn’t really like makeup for me either. He thinks it’s fake, false advertising. Or maybe he just says that because I call his video games little pretend wars with cartoons.
Yes. For Halloween. My collection of eye pencils came in handy!
Never. He’s not interested in makeup at all other than liking how I look when I’m wearing it.
No – that would be a huge turnoff and a dealbreaker. I like my men rugged and masculine and quite frankly, I wouldn’t want to share any of my makeup anyway. Friend or relative, fine but if I’m dating you, I definitely have my preferences.
Same here!
Haha I have! Make-up for men was a part of the MUA course. So I asked the guy I was dating at the time if I could practice on him. He was excited, he really wanted his undereye bags covered. The eyelash curler did scare him though… The look was very very subtle so he even went out to meet his friend wearing make-up.
A few years ago when we were stuck in the house because of a winter storm; he did my makeup. It actually, came out pretty good. I asked him once if I can practice an eyeshadow look on him and he turned me down.
Only a bit of concealer! But they have expressed an interest in trying out black eyeliner so we’ll see 🙂
Mostly my partner is more concerned with skincare and hair products. There have been a couple times they’ve spent more at Sephora than I have, ha ha.
Nope.
No, it’s not for me; I like men who are more rough around the edges (though with a kind, good sense of humor, like someone who would laugh if I asked him if he wanted to wear my makeup). I’m all for everyone’s doing whatever makes them happy. This is just my own personal taste.
That’s a no from me.
I have not (yet). The last guy I was with said he was willing, but he despises glitter and anything anywhere near his eyes so that never happened. My boyfriend now is sitting right next to me and I asked him. He said yes, so I guess my answer will change after tonight! 😛
One time probably 30 years ago. My ex-husband has a full beard and mustache and I was putting on makeup and I really don’t know how it happened but the next thing I knew I was putting makeup on him. It actually looked really nice as he has really big eyes with super thick, full lashes. As I recall, I wanted to take a picture but that wasn’t happening, LOL.
Yes, I did! One may wonder how that worked out, all things considered, since my ex could be mercurial to say the least. This was only a year into our relationship and only once, to be fair. He was actually quite amused by it, though! And he made for quite a pretty lady once I got done with him, LOL.
I sure have! One Halloween my hubby, who’s a bartender, dressed as little red riding hood. The other bartender, a female, dressed as the wolf. Apparently many ladies that night asked him who did his makeup! I felt like a proud momma! ?
No – it has never even occurred to me to ask. He won’t even let me pluck out the wild, crazy random hairs out of his eyebrows, so I don’t like my chances 😉
A have a few times for Halloween, but it’s been a while.
My boyfriend and I have both put makeup on each other! Last time I did his was for Halloween. He’s not the best model though, to be honest, ha ha. Very skittish and won’t let me close enough to his eyes!
Yes, Just for the fun of it! Obviously he wouldn’t wear that face out the door because as a joke I put my darkest lipstick, full on smoky eye, and a ton of mascara on him. Honestly tho, I love applying mascara on him because he’s not Asian like me and mascara actually does something on him instead of doing nothing (on me).
It would be a turn-off to me if he did. To echo others, whatever people want is fine by me – we each work that out for ourselves. I have playfully put an earring or two up to a handsome male face – just to picture him pirate-y…maybe not too far a leap into make-up, but somehow feels completely different. Luckily, women friends let me play out MUA fantasies on them.
Nope – not at all.
If Halloween counts, yes. He went as Dracula, and I did his makeup.
Yes, color corrector and concealer. He looks so young for his age, but he as very dark circles underneath his eyes (as do I). I’d put it on him especially before job interviews so he would look well rested. He knows he’ll be wearing both for our wedding. I think concealer should be made more socially acceptable for men. I remember my dad using oxy to try to camouflage his zits when I was a kid. Skin blemishes bother men too, and there’s such an easy fix to make them less noticeable.
No, I’ve never had a partner do my makeup, or done it on them. At least, not unless you count playfully daubing bright pink lipstick on my fiancé as revenge for him winding me up!
YES! Both my husband and one of my sons let me practice makeup application on them before I went back to work doing freelance makeup (because it had been a few years and I was feeling rusty, I felt like I needed some warm ups before I dove in first day back on the job!) what good sports they were!
My boyfriend and I both identify as queer and playing around with gender is something we both enjoy. He did drag and Rocky Horror before we met so makeup is nothing new to him.
I like sitting in the middle of piles of makeup and swatching things, he’d come over to hang out and just join in, letting me compare how things swatch on different skin tones. He’s got such large, lovely brown eyes with long curled lashes, I told him I was jealous because his eyes are just made for bold looks. He said I could do his any time and the rest is history. It’s not something we do a lot, but he’s always game. He’s also done mine a few times and boy can blend. I’m really lucky that I found someone who is so supportive and adventurous.
No, but I’d love to! Nothing crazy, just some concealer and maybe brow gel – the kind of look he might do if he decided he wanted to start wearing makeup. He’s been saying for years that he’ll let me do his makeup one day, but that day hasn’t come yet lol.
I have done makeup on my little brother though – he acted like he wasn’t too keen at first (“boys aren’t supposed to wear makeup!” eye roll), but once I did (concealer, but of brows, a lil highlight – nothing drastic) he couldn’t stop looking at himself in the mirror. I think he liked having his skin evened out – it runs in the family 😉
Yes and no. I was a stage makeup artist and met him when I put makeup on him to make him look like the devil for an opera in which he was a supernumerary.
But street makeup? Ha! Definitely not. Never even occurred to me. He’s a very manly man and I like him that way. Makeup would only be a disaster on him, no matter how skillfully applied — has has craggy features, sun-weathered skin, perma-stubble, and a slightly crooked, very prominent, gloriously Roman nose. I personally don’t care what other people do, but I would find it off-putting if he even showed interest in that (he hasn’t and wouldn’t).
The devil look really worked for him, though. 🙂
I have done his Halloween makeup 5 different times ?
No! I’ve never done makeup on my husband! Although, I am also proud because we’re slowly adding new things into his skincare routine. How he ever lived without moisturizer, I have no idea!
