Haul: My loan funds today 😛
Weekend: I’ve been doing a lot of hard adulting and that doesn’t seem to stop. I really need a quiet weekend with 0 responsibility but I’m not sure that will happen. Today is a recall on my car, physical therapy, and a full workday. Tomorrow will be shopping and trip planning with some cleaning thrown in. Sunday will be working through items and getting ready to toss/donate.
I like all jewelry pretty equally. My ear holes are closed 🙁
Congrats on the loan funding!
Between now and until you move, it will be very hard yakka and sometimes you just need a break from it all – I really get that Erin. See if you can plan in even an afternoon or morning somewhere of R & R….
What’s wrong with your car – is it a recall because of a manufacturing error? I just hope it’s not at your expense…
At least where you are going to, you probably won’t be needing lots of winter clothes.
Omg I cannot with that card.
HAUL: Nothing, but I am starting a little project pan. Panning is not really my style but I want to make a go of theBalm Balm Desert bronzer before trying MAC Harmony. This was a case where I couldn’t see owning both but couldn’t make myself destash Balm Desert because it’s a great product. I’ve been using it every day and applying a bunch on my neck to make it the same color as my face. When the weather warms I’ll dust it on my body, too. Hopefully I’ll see a dent in it this way. I’ve panned eyeshadows in my day but never come close on a cheek product.
WEEKEND: Olympics, baby!
I find most jewelry to be a bit of an annoyance in some way. I would say earrings but the nickel in most hardware is very irritating to my ears.
Just love watching the Olympics too – I had my grandson over last week – he’s two and was entranced by the skiers – running and jumping around the room, yelling go, go!
Aww love it. The skiing has been exciting. Maybe one day he’ll be out there!
Pink is a great shade for Mellan!
Haul: I don’t think I got anything this week…but there are a few things on their way…to be reported next week!
Weekend plans: Friendship and packing/sending a fun package to a friend who is having a rough time. And then maybe a Toronto day excursion tomorrow!
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings?: I hate bracelets…something about jewelry resting on my prominent veins…ick. Rings are okaying, necklaces I like, but play with! And I LOVE earrings!!
That’s so sweet of you!
What a good friend you are Joan, I am sure your friend will appreciate your gift.
Haul: I’ve started practicing mindfulness since I started my new job two weeks ago. I’ve applied the skill of just nonjudgmentally being aware of my thoughts without acting on them to my strong impulses to buy makeup. It’s pretty funny to observe. My mind has been “on fire” to purchase for the past two weeks and I’ve silently observed the fire but have not purchased anything. This is purposeful. There are many new products that have captured my attention and even if I could afford them all, I could never use all of them, so I am letting the dust settle before I buy anything. Given time, my mind will ultimately settle on the things I want the most.
So my wish list: Pat McGrath Mothership IV, Viseart Tryst, the Sonya G Fundamental brush set, Natasha Denona’s Aeris and Joya 5 Pan eyeshadows (holiday 2017), Wayne Goss holiday 2017 brush, Pat McGrath LuxeTrance lipsticks in Unfaithful and Lavish, and Natasha Denona Darya Diamond and Blush Palette. I also have a nearly irresistible urge to buy multiple foundations but I am forcing myself to use my GA Luminous Silk, which is absolutely lovely.
Shopping my stash: This week I made myself spend the week with Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk and ABH Prism Palette. I have palette goals to meet before I buy any more eyeshadow palettes. I have been using UD’s Vice lipstick in Nonsense and love it topped with Revlon’s Ultra HD Lip laquer in Rose Quartz. Also have been wearing Tom Ford’s Seadragon and Aperture.
Weekend plans: Watching most recent season of Game of Thrones. Maybe a movie, maybe not. RPM class every Saturday and weights on Sunday (as always).
Earrings only. I wear my wedding rings and earrings.
I forgot to talk about my non-makeup haul: I have been seeing these ads in my Instagram feed for yoga pants from Betabrand. They look like work dress pants but are comfortable and stretchy. I was concerned about the company and quality but I went ahead and ordered two pair. I LOVE them ?! I will be ordering two more pair next month!
Also, in case anyone here has thoughts on the foundations im thinking about purchasing, here is my list: Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Natural Perfection, Dior Forever Perfect Foundation, the new Dior Forever Undercover, Fenty Pro Filt’r, and Marc Jacob’s Shameless foundation. I have combination skin, aging (52), and don’t tend to do well with overly dewy formulas (they break up in my t-zone in 3-5 hours).
I LOVE the Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Natural Perfection, I’m 31 with anything from combo to oily skin, it really seems to very (I’ve learned using moisturizer really helps keep it at bay). On my the foundation is medium coverage and last all day on my combo (I think that’s what I would say I am now) skin. I love that the coverage is good but its not so full coverage that it looks cakey. I still have a fair amount of acne (though I’m finally figuring that out) and lots of acne scars, I find it covers all of this well enough. I use a little concealer if I want more coverage. I don’t find this overly dewy but its not flat either. I think you might like this one. I’ve tried a lot of foundations lately but I find myself back to this one.
I just got the new Marc Jacobs in the mail, I’m excited to try it tomorrow.
The Dior Forever Undercover I returned. I’m Fair to Light with either fair undertone or netural depending on the foundation. I got it in the second shade 14 fair almond, it oxzidized on me so bad. I tried to switch it up for three days to make it work but ultimately i couldn’t make it stop. I looked straight up orange on my neck even though it should have matched being a very fair pink. I can’t comment on the rest of it because this threw me off so much. Maybe its just my chemistry.
I traded the Dior Forever undercover for Bobbi Brown Long-Wearing Weightless Skin foundation which I really adore. It has a really nice natural finish on me. I wear it when I’m not wearing the Guerlain. I find it has a little more coverage than the Guerlain so I like that on bad skin days.
I”m such a foundation junkie lol. I have the Fenty one but I haven’t really worn it, I need to give it more attention.
Well I guess I’m not alone, I’m trying to reign in my desire to purchase all the foundations! I forgot about the new Bobbi Brown foundation, that is getting some of the consistently best reviews of any of the newer foundations. I think I would really like to get the Guerlain and Bobbi Brown. I’ve researched them to death, but I’ve been trying to stop myself, as I already have three foundations I love: Luminous Silk, Teint Idole, and Doublewear.
Tammy, I have to tell you – as much as I love Wayne Goss, I was kind of let down by the Holiday 2017 brush. It’s sooo long and sparse that I often find it difficult to pick up pressed powder, and then can have some difficulty applying evenly. I strongly recommend his #14 instead (maybe you already have that one?) for delicate blush application.
And, OMG I am also in love with Betabrand’s Dress Pant Yoga Pants! I used to call on an out-of-state account and often had to go straight from the airplane to meetings – those made my flights so much better. I have a couple of neutral pairs but I’m sorely tempted to get the Pinot and Forest colors… maybe during the next sale!
OMG, I just checked out Betabrand’s website. These look awesome. So glad you both mentioned them.
ShariP, I hope you get them, they are so nice.
Tammy, I’ve been looking for some new work pants, thanks for the tip! I checked out the Betabrand’s website, and I’m thrilled it comes in petite sizes and so many different colors! I will definitely be giving a pair a try!
Julia, Thanks for the feedback on the Wayne Goss brush. There are many other brushes I want, so this will be an easy pass.
I didn’t know Betabrand has forest green yoga pants. Those sound pretty! I want to get khaki and navy next.
Wow – that’s some self restraint! Good for you; it’s also very smart! With respect to foundation, I would comment that I got the free deluxe sample of the new Marc Jacobs in shade Y210 (the lightest one they offered). I found that on me, and I have neutral undertones, it pulled VERY yellow. I do think that as their online vid states you can work with the shades so a range of shades might work for a single person. BUT I do not find that the coverage is as they state. It’s supposed to be a medium, buildable foundation. It is not by any stretch of the imagination medium coverage on application. It’s light coverage but it is somewhat buildable. I would say it’s somewhat lighter than true medium coverage. For what that’s worth….
I am going to wait for more reviews on the Marc Jacobs before I make a decision. Thank you for your impressions.
I wore it today Tammy. I was able to make it work. I had to do 2 passes to make it medium-light coverage – which is ok for me. Over the course of the day, and I did not use setting spray, it began to pull into my fine lines at about the 5 hour mark. I was able to “smooth it out” by running a sponge over it. So for me, it’s ok but I don’t think I’ll buy the full size.
I’ve been trying very hard to “let the dust settle” as well for the past month. Not only does time reduce the lemming for most wishlist items, I find that hauling a bunch of makeup items at once doesn’t allow me to effectively evaluate each item. I’m trying to focus on single-item purchases to spend a week with that product and really decide if it deserves a place in my stash.
I’ve also been thinking about how a Wishlist in a way becomes a To-Do list that never gets Done. And how that might be adding stress to my purchase habits. I’m wondering if I should ditch the Wishlist and actually return to a slightly more impluse-driven approach to makeup. That is, instead of building a long, curated list and telling myself I can buy one of the items each month…… I should just think, what do I want this month? A coral lipstick? And then research my options or head to the store to swatch.
Hope you are happy at your new job!
Ginny, I think this is a constantly evolving process. I honestly haven’t had a wish list for about 6 months, until suddenly my brain went berserk two weeks ago. I definitely won’t get everything on my wishlist. Sometimes I use a wishlist as a place to “park” stuff until I get over the impulse to buy it. It prevents me from buying all the shiny things that catch my eye. But of course you’re right, every purchase should be about what I actually want, not something I wanted three months ago.
I like my new job so far
Haul: MELT Rust and Assimilate shadow singles plus an extra stack mirror.
Weekend Plans: Galentine’s Dinner tonight with a couple of my friends. Also Husband and I are moving the washer/dryer upstairs so we’re going to start demolishing the linen closet.
Earrings/necklace/bracelet/ring: All of them!
Haul: Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Heathers, COVER FX Glitter Drops trial size in Mirage – 2.8 mL, GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper in Barely There sample.
Weekend plans: Still finishing those flowers. But I’m changing my project for Anime North so I need to get fabric and experiment with thermal plastics. 😉
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings?: Ring but only because my skin could not hander piercing.
I think that this is one of the cutest pictures of Melan. He looks just adorable.
Haul: Not much this week. I picked up a couple more shades in the Ciate Glow To Illuminate blushes. I got “In Too Deep” and “Date Night”. I really love these blushes. I picked them up from Sephora so got the usual 3 samples and purchased a 500 point perk. Got the Dr. Dennis Gross skin care as the only product I have tried is the Ferulic and Retinol Eye Gel. So anxious to see if I like any of the products. I also got a deluxe sample of the Josie Maran Argan Vibrancy Fluid Foundation. I usually don’t pick up foundation samples on-line because the shades are invariably not correct but this came with a nice shade range in small 3-4 day samples. I have only used it once this week but liked it. Not sure how it would hold up in the summer months as it is very dewy on me but so far, I like it.
Weekend plans: Headed to Missoula to see my daughter if the weather cooperates. It is snowing out right now so we will see. I don’t want to be upset with mother nature because we can use the snowpack but the timing just isn’t conducive to my plans!!
Jewelry: I am with you, Christine, earrings all the way. I have so many and generally wear just of few of them. They feed my obsession with anything shiny, glitzy and swinging!
Haul: Viseart Tryst palette, Kat Von D Divine palette, Glamlite Masterpiece palette, ColourPop Pretty Much palette.
Weekend plans: Put said haul away and declutter.
No jewelry although I used to always wear earrings. I took them out and the piercings closed far more quickly than I anticipated would happen (I had been pierced since my teens).
Please tell us what you think of Tryst, I have been waiting all week to hear a non- biased review.
i picked up tryst and have been playing with it for the past 3 days. all of the shadows are great quality and i’m fairly obsessed with the colors rendezvous (light pink shimmer) and darling (peach shimmer). however, tho the colors swatch differently, on the eye some shades look pretty similar to each other so i feel like i’ve been wearing the same look fit the past 3 days despite using different shadows. in the long run, i don’t think i’d enjoy using this palette on its own which, for a 9 pan, you should be able to do?
Haul:
MAC Studio Fix Finish in NC 15, MAC Eyeshadows in Swish and Blackberry. The CCO had a 50% off sale
Weekend Plans:
Taking my daughter driving
Earrings, necklace or rings : None. My ears are sensitive to every type of earring I have ever tried. I cannot stand wearing rings or bracelets. I fidget with them and annoyed so I take them off shortly after
Haul: nothing yet
Weekend plans: Celebrating the Chinese New Year.
Going to an estate sale, book sale, and visiting with my sister. SO EXCITED
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings?: necklaces
Haul: 2 new Guerlain Lip Colour’Ink (they’re sheer matte lip stains) and a set of brushes from BH Cosmetics that should arrive today – I’m so excited!
Weekend plans: dinners with friends, and I’ll be taking my husband to a spin class for the first time. That should be fun!
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings? None of the above. I’m not a jewelry person, and 99% of the time I’ll wear nothing but my wedding band.
Haul: Another week of nothing, but I really need to go out and get a new mascara because mine is getting goopy. Might just be lazy and walk to the Walgreens next door for that.
Weekend plans: My in-laws are flying in LATE tomorrow night, so tomorrow is going to be housework to get the place company-ready 🙂 Then Sunday, I am performing in a belly dance show and the rest of the day is kind of up in the air. We had thought about taking them to an outdoor market but the weather is supposed to be cooooooold with a mix of rain and snow, so maybe not. We’ll play it by ear based on how everyone feels.
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings? ALL OF THE ABOVE. I love jewelry 🙂
Haul:
Beautyhabit (20% off and I have $125 in gift cards from their Christmas deal): Lubin Epidor EDP, Chantecaille Lip Chic (Wisteria)
Beautylish: Jeffree Star Lovesick Collection Lip Ammunition (Calabasas, Androgyny, Sinister). I missed the palette. I am not planning on ordering it now.
Birchbox (20% off): Laura Geller NY Fortifying Lashes Eyelash Primer. My HG lash primer. I’m down to my last one so this is a back-up.
Dame Perfumery: Dark Horse
Dame Perfumery (10% off): Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood Woman EDT
Dermstore (20% off): Jouer Blush Bouquet (Flirt)
Devinah (20% off): Compact Concierge Scrub Pad, 6 Eyeshadows 26mm Magnetic Freestyle Palette (3)
Elf: Christian Siriano Tinted Lip Oil, Christian Siriano Eyeshadow Palette, Pop of Glitter Gel (Turquoise Twilight, Gilded Bronze)
KVD: Kat Von D x Divine – Eyeshadow Palette, Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick (Divine) – swatches will be posted tomorrow
Le Jardin Retrouve (20% off): Tubéreuse Trianon. My fav tuberose fragrance. Perfumer signed the bottle for me too!
Sephora: Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder (Supernova). The geniuses at Sephora “forgot” to give my package to UPS so even though it shipped 3 days ago, I won’t have it until Monday.
Ulta ($5 off): Nyx Professional Makeup Always Keepin’ It Tight Eyeliner (BOGO50 – Nude, Blue), IT Brushes for Ulta Love Beauty Fully Blending Concealer Brush $203, Physician’s Formula Butter Highlighter (BOGO50 – Pearl, Iridescence), Essence all About the Magical Forest Eyeshadow Palette, Skinfix Face the Day Cleansing Trio (GWP)
Walmart: Kokie Cosmetics – Professional Eyeshadow Palette (Indigo Nights), Professional Velvet Smooth Eyeliner (Bright Blue, Royal Blue), Professional Brow Kit (Black), Professional Nail Polish (Something Blue)
I also received a bottle of Grange from the perfumer (Perfumology) to enjoy. I posted my review of it this week on my fragrance blog.
Weekend plans: Hair cut (desperately needed) on Saturday. Mani. I have tons of swatching to do so will be working on that, blog posts, and writing fragrance reviews. I have the brand new release from Dame – Cactus Orchid – and I’ve been testing it for the past 2 days.
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings?: Earrings. Although I love all jewelry.
I picked up Chantecaille Wisteria last weekend too; I love the Lip Chic formula! I also grabbed another CdP gloss in Rose Crystal.
Ooh nice! I haven’t tried the Lip Chic formula yet but since it’s Chantecaille I expected it to be good. Really happy to hear you love it! I might end up waiting for another 20% off to get other shades 😉
It’s beautifully hydrating, smells amazing and there are so many color options to choose from! Tea Rose has been one of my favorite shades for years. I have a half dozen shades in this formula. I may need to go back for Foxglove for when the warmer weather comes, but Wisteria was calling my name right now.
I went for Wisteria thinking it might be a close dupe for the Urban decay in Rapture. I’ve had Rapture for some time so I thought I should rotate it out. Happily, Beautyhabit often does % off sales so I’ll probably be looking to add other shades. I’ll keep Tea Rose in mind – thanks!
Haul: I grabbed the Kevin Aucoin highlighter palette, the new Nars foundation, the newest Bobbi Brown foundation, the Natasha Denona Joyas palette, Lancome Glow Subtle creme highlighter, Lancome Grandoise bendable liner, and an Artist Couture highlighter.
Weekend plans: babysitting my 13 month old nephew, working on my pole dance routine for the competition in March, working on my pole dance poses for the photo shoot next weekend, going to see Black Panther, and hopefully getting some sleep somewhere b/c I am exhausted from this week.
I’m not big on jewelry but I guess I’m more of a bracelet person. I used to love earrings, but I stopped wearing them for so long that my ears don’t really tolerate them for too long.
I am curious to know your thoughts on the NARS and Bobbi Brown foundations, and the Joya palette.
What do you think of the Kevyn Aucoin? It’s been on my Sephora list since it released. Worth it?
@Tammy I really like both foundations. I have oily skin and both held up really well. I wore the Nars foundation for about 16 hours and it still looked great. I powdered once, but that was just b.c I had been blowing my nose a lot and I had lost coverage b.c of it. The BB foundation I wore for about 6 hours and it looked fresh the entire time (granted I was sitting in a movie theater for half of that time and it’s winter here, so I wasn’t doing anything strenuous). I like the Joya palette. It’s definitely an accent palette, but the quality is there. Also, 2 or 3 of the shadows are more like toppers, but you can get them to be more pow with a bit of glitter glue and a damp brush.
@Michelle I really do like the Kevin Aucoin palette. It has a bit of a learning curve b.c the product is pretty flaky, but if you have a stiffer brush you can get it to work wonderfully. I used a large eyeshadow shader brush so the bristles were dense and I was able to pick up the product and blend it on my skin with little issue. A regular highlighter brush isn’t going to work with this product. I don’t regret my purchase at all.
I hope that helped.
Jessica – thank you – very helpful!
Mellan is forever young! Several years ago, but he still looks just as bright eyed today.
Haul: I couldn’t help myself, so I did buy the MAC x Jeremy Scott Bumpin’ Jamz lip palette. Nostalgia is strong with this collection, but there is the strange practicality of this piece, that one could refill each pan as they use them up. Also placed an order directly from Nars site for Fetishised blush. Could never find that one in any store back when it came out!
Weekend plans: Nothing far from my usual routine. Hair, meeting on Sunday, nails still look alright even 6 days later, so I’m good there. Just another quick trip back to SFS for some clothes on hold.
Earrings, necklace, bracelet or rings? All of the above, except bracelets! I always wear my customized nameplate necklace I bought in NYC a few decades ago. Plus, I have 2 rings that I always wear, too. Usually have earrings in both my back and front ear holes, typically a pair of studs in the back holes, and fairly large hoops in the front holes. Sometimes I wear something more fancy, but not often enough considering that I have some really beautiful or cute ones!
Oooo, I forgot about Fetishized! How different is it from Impudique? What are your thoughts?
Well, it was *supposed* to arrive today, but so far, nothing. And it’s nearly 7 p.m. here, so I likely won’t get to use it until Monday or Tuesday at this rate. Oh, and while I was able to view the tracking info a few days ago, yesterday and today, it comes up as an “error” window! But it had said delivery would be today when I did view it.
Haul: Batiste dry shampoo, TresEmme heat protectant, Essence Satin Love blush
Weekend plans: husband is still traveling so nothing really. Lots of laundry and laying around with my dog.
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings?: I only wear my engagement & wedding rings and a necklace my husband gave me when we were dating. I’m not one to accessorize really. And my ears have closed up twice. But if I had to choose, maybe necklace 🙂 they’re typically not fussy.
The Essence quality has really improved lately. I haven’t tried the blush yet. Do you like it?
Hi Michele!
The Satin Touch blush is one of their older products so I can’t attest to the quality of their new stuff. But! I really like the blush. It’s actually a replacement; I lost my other Satin Love! And at just $3, it was an easy purchase 🙂
Thanks for the feedback! I just put Satin Love 20 in my Ulta wishlist for my next order. should have checked your reply first bc I already placed my Ulta order for today…but there’s always more. 😉
Awwwww! I love the Mellan Valentine pictures. 🙂
Haul: Violet Voss The Rainbow Eyeshadow Palette.
Weekend plans: Nothing special. We’ll probably just run errands, do laundry, and grocery shop.
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings?: Earrings!
That Violet Voss Rainbow Palette is the *real* 80’s palette! Jeremy Scott et al should’ve gone this route for authenticity.
Yes, and the Violet Voss quality if much better!
Haul – zero ! I’ve been good !
Weekend – relax after hitting all my Accounting and Finance deadlines at my jobs”. We are sup’d to get 6 plus inches of snow so I’m excited !
Jewelry – don’t make me choose !
Haul: A new bottle of Pixi Overnight Glow Serum (I can’t believe I’ve actually finished up something!), Smashbox Primerizer and O’Keefe’s lip balm (I finally found some – the one in the stick format).
Weekend plans: gym tomorrow morning then Shoppers (20X the points tomorrow) and then my mother in law is treating us to dinner at her seniors’ apartment; Sunday, a housewarming (this is new to me….my niece and her boyfriend have moved in together and my sis in law – whom I adore or I wouldn’t be going – is having a “house warming” for them, complete with a gift registry….hmmmm? So I bought them some great tea towels and a Tiffany blue casserole dish (that’s her colour of choice) and we’ll spend a bit of time visiting.
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets or rings? Depends on the day; I always wear the diamond studs that belong to my late mother; today, I happen to be wearing a necklace (gold and leather) and some days, it’s a bracelet – either a heavy but tailored gold bangle (our house was burgled a long time ago and I was able to replace all the pitzy bits of jewelry with one big piece) or the Pandora bracelet my children have “built” for me over the past few years.
…oh, I’m not sure if I should be counting the Elizabeth Arden Eye Cream (I think it’s called 24 Hour Perpetual) that seems to have been discontinued but which I found at Marshall’s after looking for it a few places. Not sure if I got it in time for last week’s FFH or not.
Haul: I haven’t really bought anything for a while, so I kind of splurged this week! I bought the new Dior Lip Glow in the Matte Pink and it’s super pretty. Not worth the cost but I hadn’t expected it to be, it was just a little frivolous luxury. Then yesterday I went to the mall with a good friend who also loves makeup, which is so dangerous. At ELF I got the Prismatic Lip Gloss in Rose Quartz and Blue Onyx (the most unique lip gloss I own by far), at ULTA I got a new tub of the Nip+Fab Glycolic Night Fix Extreme pads, a two-pack of Real Techniques sponges, an Essence eyeshadow in Dare to Wear!!, and the birthday gift (a lip oil and one-use lip mask), and then at Marshall’s/Homegoods I got a NARS Dual Intensity shadow in Pool Shark. Lots of stuff but the ELF was cheap, I had a birthday coupon for Ulta and the stuff was already inexpensive, and the NARS was only $10!
Weekend Plans: Tonight I’m going in to NYC to meet up with some friends I haven’t seen since September, and tomorrow I’m going in to see John Mulaney at Radio City with one of my best friends!
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings? I’m not a huge jewelry person, but if I’m wearing it, it’s probably a necklace, followed by earrings. I don’t think I really own any bracelets or rings! I do have a watch that was a 21st birthday gift from my dad that I wear a lot. It was his mother’s from the mid-century and he had the bracelet-style band changed out for a black cord style band so that it’d be more practical in fieldwork! I love that one because the actual face/metal part is tiny, so it doesn’t weigh a lot and aggravate my wrists (I have ganglion cysts in both wrists). I think family heirloom watches are a pretty traditional 21st birthday gift, my dad’s favorite uncle passed down one of his when he turned 21!
Happy Birthday Kat!!
Thanks!!
Happy birthday!
Haul: Nothing as I got a ring and a necklace from Mejuri so there went my money. But they’re gorgeous! I got their Gemini signet ring and Gemini necklace (the latter in sterling silver as I prefer silver to gold, the former in gold vermeil as that was the only option for it). They were really affordable for Mejuri too!
Weekend plans: Enjoy the peace and quiet? Or try assuming my downstairs neighbors aren’t loud AF for once.
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings?: Necklaces, then rings. I can’t stand bracelets as they slide around too much and I don’t have pierced ears.
Ooh, Mejuri has some lovely items. I didn’t know about them, great to know.
Mellan has outdone himself in cuteness!
Haul: Nothing this week. I am trying to shop my collection.
Weekend plans: I volunteered to be on my college reunion committee and I ha e to make phone calls to get people to come.
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets or rings? Always earrings and sometimes necklaces. I wear a wedding band. I don’t own any bracelets.
Happy Lunar NY Christine & Mellan! And it’s the Year of the Dog 🙂
*Ulta -20% off – BH Cosmetics Zodiac Palette ( OMG, stunning!!!! Have only swatched, but the mattes are very pigmented and smooth, as good or better than Viseart, the metallic are gorgeous. If the shadows wear well, will be one of my top fave palettes ), NYX Strictly Vinyl Eyeliner in Dauntless ( I swatched on my arm, and it’s still partially there, 3 days and 6 hot showers later), Wet N Wild Megaglo Liquid Highlighters in Rosy & Ready (not rosy at all, more of a cool white with pink but pretty) and Halo Gorgeous ( pretty!), Flower Beauty Flower Pot Blush in Warm Hibiscus (stunning) & Wild Rose ( will need dense brush, but pretty colors and pigmented), L’Oreal x Balmain lipstick in Confession, ABH Mini-Matte Lipstick Set ( Dead Roses, Kiss, Soft Pink, Spice), PTR 20% Glycolic Jumbo Peel Swab (re-purchased), The Body Shop Aloe Day Cream (re-purchased), Lulu Diva Shower Cap, Essence 4 pan empty shadow palettes, and a bunch of brushes from Elf, Eco Tools, and Morphe
*Ulta – MAC x Jeremy Scott Hi Lo Shadow palette — I grew up in the era of boom boxes, so the design is stealing my heart, but I’m heartbroken over the shadows, as 95% of them swatched horribly, thin, hard, dry, and sheer. Shame on MAC & Jeremy for ruining what could’ve been a great product, definitely not worth $ 75
*CP Shadows – Slim Fit, Salt Water, Crown Jewel, So Jaded, Come & Get It, Get Out, Too Birds, Pretty Cruel, Sandbar, Making Moves, Double Date, Silver Lining, Hung Up + 3 free empty shadow palettes
*Weekend – not sure yet, but will involve at least 1 family outing to some local attraction
*Not much into jewelry, but prefer necklaces
Haul: Makeup for Ever Star Lit Glitter palette, from QVC Becca Undereye Primer and Brightening Setting Powder $39 deal
Weekend Plans: Chilling at home helping my daughter recover from foot surgery she had on Valentines day. She’s non weight bearing on that foot until Tuesday so lots of running around helping her.
Earrings, Necklaces, Bracelets or Rings?: Earrings are a necessity next necklaces. I rarely wear rings or bracelets. I wear my Apple watch everyday, it really comes in handy when I’m out and about I can quickly check texts and calls.
Haul: Just a replacement Korres Wild Rose serum and some Tocca Florence perfume. I have a big Colourpop order on the way but won’t get it until next week.
Weekend plans: Nothing much, my husband has gone to the coast to go fishing so it’s just me and the cats hanging out. I’m going to wash all my makeup brushes, watch some of the Swedish Word Rally and eat junk food.
Necklaces for me at the moment! I make my own with empty cup chains and Swarovski crystals so I can go completely crazy with colours and create really unique pieces to suit myself and I sometimes do custom stuff for friends and family, but it’s a fairly expensive hobby to maintain. I do earrings and bracelets as well but I can’t wear rings at work, so I maximize my bling by chucking on a sparkly necklace with my lab coat and steel cap boots, LOL.
Haul: Sugarpill Little Twin Stars palette. Can’t wait to try that beautiful aqua matte eyeshadow
Weekend plans: Going to see Black Panther, other than that taking it easy and going through clothes in my closet.
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets or rings?: I love all! I can’t wear earrings anymore, but I’d wear them all the time if I could. Necklaces are my favorite out of all, however.
That one aqua shade has me drooling! I’m trying to stop myself from buying the palette just for that one color, which is hard because the other shades look cute too.
Star Ribbon (the aqua) is really, really pretty. My favorite out of the palette so far.
I was a bit disappointed in the coppery shade Wish. It was hard to apply dry or wet, not much pigmentation. I’m going to start working it more, but ehhh.
The pink shade Sky Candy is beautiful as both an eyeshadow and a blush!
Haul: Marc Jacobs Shameless youth Foundation , Natasha Deona Diamond & Blush Palette Darya ( so spendy but I couldn’t resist, my “tax treat”) , MUFE Star Lit Glitter Palette
Weekend plans: Not sure, but its a long weekend. I’m taking my mom to a move and lunch Monday since its a holiday. Love doing that with her. Probably do some simple things with the boyfriend over the rest of the weekend.
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings?: My ears grew up after being pierced 25 years. I only wear my college ring on a daily basis but I like simple necklaces as well.
What movie will you see with your mother?
Haul: This may seem a little sketchy, but the 2 new NARS highlight palettes that haven’t been released yet. I got them from Poshmark, from a seller in SoCal. I was just trying to google pictures and swatches and came across the listing, which had just been posted. I’ve already received them and I really think they are genuine, so I think they were samples or something? “Rêve Salé” and “Coucher De Soleil,” they’re beautiful!
Weekend plans: Nothing too crazy – get the house in order, do some grocery shopping and vacation planning
Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings?: I love sparkly things in general, but I’m really a die-hard earrings person.
So our resident highlighter girl managed to score highlighters that aren’t even released yet??? You’ve taken this to a whole new level, Julia!
I’m out of control… send help, lol!
Not quite sure that Mellon likes to be posed next to a teddy – I’m a big boy now, I don’t need teddies! Cute photos Christine.
Haul: I got in a slew of Elizabeth Arden lipsticks this week – some backups (Ginger, Cocoa Bronze and Goldmine) as well as a Cayenne Pearl (Gorgeous red/brown) and Cinnabar. I also picked out a couple for my daughter in law – Coral Peach and Honeysuckle. She just loves them – so creamy and moisturising on the lips and they last for a long time.
Priceline was having a 40% off skincare this week, so I bought some more La Roche Posay’s Ultra light sunscreen SPF 50 and a couple of other skincare items -when these sales are on, I find it’s good to try other brands and see how they work.
Weekend Plans: On Saturday I am going out to a fashion shop on the other side of town as my twin sister has been asked to model their new range of autumn clothes. The brand (Taking Shape) likes to ask customers to model the clothes so that others can see they are about real life people. So I am going to cheer her on and possibly/probably pick up some new clothes
Sunday – just housework I think at this stage.
Jewelry – I am not really a big jewelry person. My twin sister could open up a shop with all the jewelry she has. But I do like necklaces the best.
Haul: Viseart Tryst (enjoying a lot); Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules for eyes (working through a an allergic reaction to something around my eyes, so trying out gentle, moisturizing products); Revlon Blank Canvas lipstick to try out for every day MLBB
Weekend: nothing in particular — usual errands, pilates, etc; am traveling next week so some prep things like getting dry cleaning in, picking up a few travel items
Earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets: tough one — I love jewelry and have favorite/special items in each category. I’ll say rings or pendant — my next purchase is either a ring (with bonus, have had my eye on a pomatello ring for years, may finally go for it) or pendant (having one made from inherited jewelry)
Haul: I ordered the Bare Minerals Elegant Neutrals loose eyeshadow kit for $10 and free shipping! Three shadows and a brush.
Weekend plans: Olympics, AHL hockey, and lots of food
Earrings, necklackes, bracelets, or rings?: Bracelets! I won’t pierce my ears, hate things touching my neck, and my fingers swell all the time. 😛
Mellan’s the best Valentine ever! (shhh, don’t tell my boyfriend)
Haul: only getting in my five 50% off “damaged” eyeshadows from Makeup Geek, plus my Buon Fresco single from ABH finally got here (they sent me Suede a few weeks ago on accident instead of Buon Fresco).
Weekend plans: Studying and relaxing with my man, as always. I have a few exams this week and then a whole week off for “Spring” break
Earrings, bracelets, rings, or necklaces?: I’m not big on jewelry, but rings for sure, followed by necklaces as a distant second. The only necklace I really wear anymore is a delicate silver chain with a pendant of the Virgin Mary on a green background that my mother found YEARS ago at a pawn shop (I’m a likely soon-to-be Catholic so it’s comforting to wear it). I wear that every day, but I still in general am more of a ring person. My left ear constantly closes up, so I rarely go through the stress/pain/frustration of essentially repiercing it every time I want to wear earrings. Also, having things on my wrist generally bothers me too much, but on the rare occasions I do wear them they’re usually too big because I have tiny wrists/hands.
