Urban Decay Backtalk Palette Coming Soon
Urban Decay Backtalk Palette
The Details
Like two palettes in one, this travel-ready case holds eight nude-mauve, soft berry, and muted rose eyeshadow shades on one side and four coordinating shades of blush and highlighter on the other.
This trend has never been hotter, and these shades are made to be flattering on all skin tones. Feeling pretty in pink? Add 3 Sheets, a satin pinky peach shade, to lids, while highlighting cheekbones with the crazy-shimmery highlighter, Party Foul. Or, get deep-blending Shade, a fuchsia satin, into the crease, and finish off your look with Cheap Shot, a medium pink-nude highlighter. No matter the vibe, Backtalk has your eyes and cheeks speaking volumes so you can show your unstoppable femme power.
Backtalk Palette takes no prisoners, and fits 12 gorgeous pigments into one sleek palette. A double-sided, removable mirror acts as a divider between the eyeshadow shades and the blush and highlighter shades. These shadows are just as advanced as their packaging: Every shade features UD’s proprietary Pigment Infusion System™ for velvety pigments that blend easily, stay rich, and last for hours.

There are also seven new Vice lipstick shades listed as coming soon on the UD website.
What a pleasant surprise after the big boring reveal of the Naked Basics Heat! This feels like a smaller, more diverse version of the Naked 3 (which I wanted but didn’t get). The cheek colors seem interesting too. I hope it’s good quality!!!
Nice. Could be my first UD in years. Hope you approve. (Bec you KNOW it depends on you…)Colors coordinate well, and the family is pretty wearable.
This one I need. Pinks and roses are under represented in my collection. Gorgeous!
I love it. I am going to buy this one.
Wow. That is the first palette I’ve been interested in since last summer. Hope it scores well with you Christine! (as always, I wait for your review)
COOL TONES! I am gonna be all over this like lint on a black dress. Thank you so much for the notice!
LOL! Lint on a black dress, nice one.
The eyeshadow shades look like they’ll definitely work for me, and I can probably make the cheek shares work, but I’m having trouble getting past the cardboard packaging… For $50, I want something that looks like it was actually made for adults… Don’t get me wrong, I’ll most likely buy it (and possibly one for my daughter-these shades are *perfect* for her age & coloring!), but I’m getting quite irritated with all the cardboard…
OMG, I totally agree. I steer away from cardboard palettes. Even when I cave, I eventually get annoyed when the packaging gets messy. (I clean my palettes after every use; other than dips in the pans, all my palettes look nearly new! …I’m a little bit Monica about my things. *blush*)
THIS! It is really annoying to see so many cardboard palettes from them lately! I don’t purchase any in cardboard. I’m not good at depotting.
Omg finally. Hope it is permanent.
After the unweildy Heavy Metals palette, this looks streamlined and I like the separation of the blushes and eyeshadows. The packaging is quite versatile for travelling. The shades, whilst not my colours, are well co-ordinated and there seems to be a few mattes in there too. Hopefully, it will be of good value.
They kept the ‘mirror in the middle’ but actually made something that works this time. Good thing they learned from that hideous palette!
The eyeshadows remind me of DOSE of Colors in the Marvelous Mauves palette.
“nude-mauve, soft berry and muted rose Eyeshadow shades”
“Forget about being a lady and give ’em what they deserve.”
Mmm…nothing makes me forget about being a lady like nude-mauve and muted rose.
RIGHT?!? Nothing against these colors for anyone who likes them, I’ve seen a lot of gorgeous, romantic looks with these sorts of colors. But admit that’s what you’re offering us, don’t give me “edgy” copy paired with colors my Mom could wear to church.
This is your Grammie speaking, and I resemble that remark! The pseudo edgy…bec so overdone and so sniggering up the sleeve as if they’ve put one over on someone… is bloody puerile. If doesn’t offend me or surprise me. It annoys me. UD is really about as edgy as their parent co. Reads kind of ‘trying to stay young and relevant’ to me, trite and cliched at this point. That said, grammie would/will prob love this palette, and I haven’t gotten a UD palette since a marked down V4.
I agree. Another mom/grandma here, and having a stark white, a stark black, and bright chartreuse does not edgy make. Yes, I love the look of this Backtalk palette. I might even wear the shades to church, but that doesn’t make them boring. I’m so tired of seeing orange, rust, orange-rust, and rust-orange that this looks really good to me.
I had the same thought!!!
Sometimes it feels like UD has backed themselves into a corner with their “we’re so edgy” schtick. When they want to do something more appealing to a wider market they have to do this ridiculous copy to try make it look like they haven’t sold out for the sake of mass appeal.
Nothing wrong with this palette — looks like great colors that are way overdue. But … there had to be a way to make this relevant to their (previous) target audience without the recycled gobbledygook copy.
Or … maybe they mean “edgy” in the sense that every palette for the past two years has been warm and warmer, so choosing this makes you a rebel? Makes them rebels? Defies the norm? 😐
LOL! When you’re right, you’re right.
If the quality is there, then this one is pure love! As in, you can bet I’m getting this one if it’s good. It has elements of Naked Heat and Naked 3 going on. If those 2 had a baby, this would be it!
Finally – a cool toned palette (*fanfare*)! Thank you Urban Decay 🙂 Perhaps now all the other brands will follow suit and do away with the tedious warm theme thing ….
Sigh, I was just thinking “why can’t someone do a purple palette?” This is so close! i hate the WTF color and there’s no ultra dark purple. I will definitely check this out in store. I’m pale enough that those similar looking shades might look different enough on my skin tone.
OMG, am I hallucinating??? A palette without the usual warm browns/reds/oranges. Sign me up!!! I love mauves, purples, and pinks like this
I may buy this busy because they were brave enough to make a palette without a black shadow!
But this is a nice take on the pink/red/berry onslaught of the last year or two, and makes a great travel palette.
If your review on this one is good, Christine, this will be one of my must-haves (and if it’s bad, then it’s money saved)!
Oh this looks beautiful! The only naked palette I’ve ever had is the Naked 3 so this looks promising. Can’t wait for your review. Thank you for putting this on my radar!
Oddly enough, I find this appealing. Not sure I love that it has blush/highlights attached since I’d honestly only use 2 of the 4 and I’m full up on blushes and highlighters that I like – but this may be the first UD item I’ve actually found up my street. We’ll see what it looks like swatched and in person thought. The last thing that I found somewhat interesting from UD, the colors I like it for were terrible.
First UD palette I’ve been into in YEARS (or at least it feels like years! Lol) and I so hope the quality is there!
Hope these are good. Like the included coordinated blush in the same palette.
Thank you UD for not releasing red/orange/neutral palette! This looks really pretty and totally up my alley. If it reviews well I will pick it up.
This will be mine! It’s so freaking pretty!
Pretty colors but I’ll bet they have carmine. I wish there was some way to get reds, pinks, and oranges without carmine. I can’t get that gorgeous Heat pallet for the same reason. 🙁
I love the concept of this but the eyeshadow colours really aren’t ones that suit me or that I like. I hope they continue this idea, though.
I like this except for that brown shade. If that’s as warm as it looks, it doesn’t belong in this palette.
I really like this!! naked 3 is my only UD palette and I use it weekly. This is tempting.
This looks interesting. I have a lot of travel planned for late spring and this would be perfect to bring if the formulas are good.
The colour scheme reminds me of Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue in medium/tan shade. I’m gonna buy this anyway.
Finally, a cool toned palette! *angels sing*
It seems lots of us were waiting for this… I havent’ been this excited about an UD palette since Naked 2. I hope the reviews are good, because I’ve already started saving to get this.
I’ll be curious to know how they compare to the Naked 3 palette cause this just placed #1 on my most wanted product list 😀
Salt N Pepa reference in the copy? (Somebody’s Gettin on my Nerves) I don’t understand this with pink eyeshadow lol.
After outright dissin’ Urban Decay yesterday, I can absolutely see myself wanting this palette. This range is good for me and it would make a perfect travel palette with the blushes. Looking forward to review and swatches.
Love this palette. It is so refreshing!
So pretty! When, when, when?
THIS WILL BE MINE! My first experience with a usable palette like this was the BH Cosmetics It’s My Raye Raye palette and I love that thing. As I am playing with my Naked Palettes recently, I feel like Urban Decay is dropping this right on time! That said, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for this!
Ruh roh.
This is lovely. Looking closely, I’m pretty sure I have dupes for nearly everything. However, having it in one palette is always my downfall; why I keep buying…
I love these mauve tones. This palette is definitely giving me Naked 3 vibes but I think it has a better range of shades and I love the blush colors included in it.
I am really intrigued, even though I don’t generally like cardboard palettes or dual blush/eyeshadow palettes. But I’m a sucker for anything purple/violet! I think I’ll be waiting on the swatches from this one in anticipation.
Wow, super pretty, smarter packaging, and four blushes! I agree with Nancy above, like Naked Heat and Naked III’s baby, haha.
These eyeshadow shades seem different than what they normally put together – I like it! I’m intrigued to see the blushes swatched! This may be a great palette!
Omg please don’t be shitty quality. This is so pretty.
Looks like UD is acknowledging they botched their rose/mauve palette attempt in Naked3
Yeah, rosy makeup isn’t really my go-to for a badass look. Odd marketing here.
Not for me, I’m one of the few who warms and oranges completed my life, but WHAT is with all the cheap cardboard packaging from UD lately? For the prices they charge, how bout some metal or plastic?
The rosy tones remind me a bit of Naked 3 which is my favourite of the Naked series palettes.
I love the look of this and will pick it up if it performs well. It’s certainly a range of colour which works very well with my skintone.
I just realized this is a Sephora exclusive.? I have been hanging on to my ULTA points waiting for something special and I thought this was going to be it. Whaaaaa!
Boo. I like to see in person before I buy, and we have no Sephora closer than a 3-hour drive away. 🙁 I hate store exclusives. If a company wants to sell a palette or anything else, make it easy to see and buy.
Very eager to see swatches and read reviews on this! This could be the one that makes me break my “no-more-palettes-ever” resolution.
I’m pretty stoked for this. I’m loving the color scheme, and it looks great for travel.
Yessss. Just in time for my paycheck too!
This is so pretty. I am sure I have dupes for most of the shades but still I want this. Crazy how many of these shades I seem to need. I hope it reviews well and that there are enough to cover the immediate desire to own as I think a lot of people are going to want this.
Oh man, I really hope this is good! I use my Naked3 regularly, and I’d buy this in a heartbeat if I knew the quality was there. I’ll be waiting for your review to find out! The “WTF” shade looks like it doesn’t quite belong though, like it’s a bit too warm. That could just be the photo though.
Also, I’m glad they kept the design with the mirror separating the eyeshadows and the highlighters – it’s such a nice touch.
I really hope this is as good as it looks. I can’t wait for this one. My first ever UD purchase was the Vice Liquid Lipstick in Backtalk and it’s still my favorite lipstick of all time. I know their liquid lips are not the best but I actually like the color it dries down to better than the regular lipstick in the bullet.
It’s gorgeous and I fell in love with it immediately lol, so I’ll most likely get it, although I am a bit concerned regarding the face part. I have fair skin – don’t have an exact M.A.C reference but I’d say NC/NW15-20 – and the highlighters look a bit dark. The blushes, you can make them work, but the highlighters, especially Low Key, hmm… I’ll have to go to a store to swatch them. UD showed swatches on a fair skin, and I wasn’t fully convinced. The new Becca Parisian Lights was too dark and golden for me for instance, so yeah, slightly worried, but I’m sure the 4 face products would work beautifully on the eyes as well!
You can make them work. I’m fair/light right now and I”m to get it to work. Cheap Shot I just do it really lightly and then blend with my real techniques sponge. Another way is to do Party Foul first and then just add a little of Cheap Shot.
Hey Emily, thank you for the input! What about Low Key ? Not too orange-y on you ? I guess you can also mix it with Party Foul. And how does Double Take look on you ?
I am excited for this, but I will make myself wait for it to go on sale. One day, I will learn to not pay full price for an LE Urban Decay palette… One day…
i love this palette, my sephora put it out early, had it about a week.
